  1. I think frustration is anger directed at oneself. Lower your expectations and/or if your having a bad day, stop keeping score and concentrate on practicing. I think it's different for a pro. When they have a bad day, they are losing income.
  2. Color does not matter if you're not fitted for the towel...
  3. I have lucky days where I'm playing poor but scoring nicely. Topped a 6i but it hit the pin and dropped a few inches from the hole. For me, good ball striking is more important than scoring good.

I remember seeing the logo in tennis boutiques but that was about 20 years ago.
  5. That's a great link Alf; thanks.
  6. I've been there many times and I guess it's obvious that it's my favorite vacation spot. North Carolina is a great state.

    Camilo Fans

I think he's a cool dude trying to gracefully get his eye as close to the surface as possible. Maybe there's a little show business in it, but I like it and he's good for the tour.
  8. True, but Wiki provides the data for calculating the average and your response raised a few questions, at least in my mind or what's left of it. I wonder what difference there would be if one caculated the mean and median par 3,4, & 5 on a given set of courses. I might do that when it gets too cold to play. I do have one serious question that is not worth a new thread. Does the handicap formula adjust for the difference between blue tees and and white tees (i.e. slope and course rating)?
  9. Fly fishing reels and related trappings such as fly boxes, etc.
  10. Actually it depends on whether it's a long course or short course meaning the answer could be anywhere from 4.8 to 5.2. Seriously, according to Wiki: The length of each hole from the tee placement to the pin determines par values for each hole primarily, though not exclusively. Traditionally, holes are assigned par values between three and five strokes. For a casual player from the middle tees, an average par-three hole will range between 100 yards (90 m) to 250 yards (230 m) from the tee to the pin. Average par-four holes range between 250 yards (230 m) and 450 yards (410 m), although tournament players will often encounter par-four holes as long as 500 yards (460 m) or more as it is not uncommon for short par-five holes for normal play turned into par-four holes in championship play. Average par-five holes are between 450 yards (410 m) and 600 yards (550 m), but in the 21st century holes of over 600 yards (550 m) are becoming more common in championship play. Other considered factors include terrain and objects that may require a golfer to take fewer or more shots to overcome (such as trees, water, hills, or buildings).
  11. OP: You did not mention if you need a cart or stand bag. Sometimes you can find a good deal on a bag at Dicks's or Sports Authority. The Ogio Section bag has 6 full dividers and is under $80. http://www.tgw.com/customer/category...artTableAnchor
  12. Some of Nike's stuff is over priced even when compared to Polo and Brooks Bros.
  13. I played both and they feel the same to me.

    Loud Crowds

When Tiger was on the 17th on Saturday, I heard, on my TV a very high pitched scream that hurt my ears. I'm assuming it was a female, but that does not matter. He or she let out that insane scream before he teed off and just after. It was worst than Bethpage. IMO, that's not the way to save the Buick Open.
  15. When I was an active golfer, 1978 - 1993, I could never hit a (real wood) driver or 3 wood. I was very good with a 5 wood and a 7 Ginty. Hence I'm looking at the Diablo 5 wood and a hybrid. I'm very comfortable with my 3 iron. A local pro likes the Diablo fairway and hybrid better than Ping G10s. Tried both but don't feel a difference. Any thoughts?
  16. I'm taking lessons but my next or 3rd lesson will not be for another few weeks. My grip, stance, posture and distance is good. My striking is only good when I: (i) hesitate at the top of my back swing; or, (ii) my grip is so loose that the club "wobbles" in my hand at the top of my back swing. If either of these do not occur, I'm hitting flat or very low like a punch. Otherwise, I'm having trouble cocking my wrist at the top of the back swing. What should I be doing? Any advice or link to a thread on the subject would be appreciated.
  17. Re the guys that ran over your ball: is it possible that they were not the groundkeepers, but outside construction workers? If so, you really need to report the incident.
  18. In my experience at a course that is still under construction, yes.
  19. There was a thread (that I can't find), asking who does not carry or use a driver. I was suprised at the number of people that do not use a driver even though they may carry one. I don't use a driver even though I carry one. I could never hit a driver. Now, my only problem is what fairway wood brand to buy.
  20. 5'9" and was measured for 33.5" and use a 34."
  21. Those Bridgestones are nice looking. I wonder if another company is making them for bridgestone.
  22. As a Callaway fan I have to admit Mizuno's are sleek and classy looking.

  25. Ping putter covers are magnetic (at least the two I have) which prevents them from falling off.
