  1. The Departed, Casino Royale, and Borat were my favorites.
  2. Cleveland HiBore with a UST ProForce V2 shaft.
  3. I have the same problem. I have trouble off the tee with the Launcher Steel, and no trouble at all in the fairway. The Cobra on the other hand was the opposite. I was bombing it off the tee, and having trouble in the fairway. I think the difference is in the volumes of the heads. Cleveland Launcher Steel: 155cc Cleveland Launcher Comp: 160cc Cobra Speed: 192cc Callaway X: 167cc Nike SQ: 165cc Ping G5: 190cc Based on these specs (taken from Golf Digest Editors Choice 2006), I would say that a smaller head would be easier to hit off the ground, and the bigger head would be easier off the tee. Looking at the numbers, I'd say the Callaway X and the Nike SQ would be a happy medium (don't have the specs on the 906F2).
  4. Today at my home course Hood River Country Club I hit hybrid 19° off the tee about 230 (par 4, about 310 yards). I went a little right, leaving me behind a huge doug fir tree. I took out my 56°, moved the ball forward in my stance, and whacked it as high as I could. Sure enough, it barely missed the top of the tree and landed on the back edge of the green. 2-putt for par sealed the deal.
  5. I have the Launcher Steel 15°. It's a great 3-wood. The only thing I don't like is the shaft (it's OK, but not too high performance). The comp is more of a players club. I also liked the Cobra Speed (dynamite off the tee), Nike SQ (forgiving), and the Callaway X (good all around). I haven't tried the Hibore. Basically, it all boils down to personal choice. Try them all side by side.
  6. What part of Oregon are you from eddie?
  7. I started golfing about 2 years ago. I was varsity 5th spot in my first tournament (last year). I didn't do too well, but you can understand why. It was actually the second 18 hole round I had ever played. Since then I've dropped my handicap about 20 points.
  8. I might be interested wood. What's the asking price?
  9. Looking at your handicap, I would recommend the following: Driver: Nike Sasquatch, Cleveland Hibore and Taylor Made r7 460. All three of these drivers are easy to hit and are very forgiving. Woods: Callaway X, Nike Sasquatch, Ping G5. Same with the drivers, easy to hit and forgiving. Hybrids (I highly recommend, although others feel differently): Cobra Baffler, Cleveland Halo, Nickent 3DX Utility. Easier to hit than your average longer irons. They provide a higher launch angle and put more backspin on the ball, which in turn equals more distance. Irons: Mizuno MX-900. Good Solid choice. Very easy to hit, and very forgiving. Wedges: Cleveland CG10, CG11, Titleist Vokey Spin Milled. If your're looking for more forgiveness the CG11 is the way to go. If you care more about feel and shot making around the green, go with the CG10's or the Spin Milled's. Putters: Any one will do. Keep in mind this is just a guideline based on the clubs I have hit in the past few months (I was in search of new clubs also). The best thing you can do is try each individual model out for yourself and see which one you like best. I would also recommend trying the drivers on a launch monitor and getting fit for your irons. Hope this helps!
  10. Zero, although I did come close on two incidents. The first was on a par 3 110 yard downhill hole. I hit a half swing gap wedge, landed it right on the edge of the green. The ball then HIT the pin and rolled another 6 inches. If the pin hadn't have been there it would have gone in. The second was on a 162 yard par 3. I hit a 6-iron to the center of the green. The ball rolled around the edge of the cup, changed direction and stopped three feet away. Another centimeter to the right and it would have gone in.

    Loud Drivers

I know just what you mean. I hit my cousins Cobra 440 SZ at the range a few months ago. It was, by far, the loudest driver I have ever hit. I could feel the sound vibrating through my ears. My dad said that he could hear it from the parking lot. I had to stop after about a dozen balls. It was literally to loud for me to hit.
  12. Bounce actually has to do with the turf conditions you play in. For instance a CG11 1 Dot is meant for tighter lies and firm turf. The 3 Dot on the other hand is meant to be played in bunkers or softer conditions.
  13. Cleveland for a number of reasons: Driver: What more could you want? Hibore, Launcher Comp, Ti460, all great drivers. Fairway Woods: Launcher Steel is an amazing wood. Hybrid: I doesn't get much better than the Halo. Irons: CG4's are perfect! I went through many sets of irons before I fell in love with the 4's. The CG1's and 2's are also a blast to hit. Wedges: For obvious reasons. Putters: Never Compromise has really stepped it up. I hope to buy one soon.
  14. I have had a set for a few months and I love them. They're very responsive and they're actually a lot of fun to hit.
  15. Sunscreen, Advil, Water, Phone, Snack. I also carry a jacket during winter.
  16. The is my absolute favorite hole. From the tee box to the hole there is about a 500 foot vertical drop. It's so steep it's hard to walk down. If you hit a good drive it can stay in the air for about 8 seconds. It's not unusual to see a 400+ yard drive. The right side of the green is surrounded by an emerald pool with a fountain in the center. It's just a really cool hole.

    Nemesis Hole

Number 4 at my home course is my nemisis. It's a Par 4 430 yards. The fairway slopes up to a 50 foot deep gulley about 60 yards from the hole. On the top on that gulley is an elevated green with bunkers covering 75% of the hole. It's also the windiest hole on the course (always a headwind). On any given day, I'll hit Driver of the tee. The wind will catch and the ball will carry about 220 (instead of my normal 270). Then I'll go 3-wood straight to the pin. It either goes short and rolls into the gulley or it goes long into a bunker. I've only made par once.
  18. I have the Nike Xtreme Sport and I love it. It's light, full of features, has a lot of pockets, and overall it looks really nice (depending on the color).
  19. The Cleveland Hibore is the only driver that I have ever hit that never slices (for me at least). Even when I get a little behind the ball it still goes fairly straight. The Hibore is designed to put less spin on the ball, both vertically and horizontally. Of course, these are my opinions. The best thing you can do it try one. I also found that the R7 460 and the Nike SQ had about the same ball flight trajectory as the Hibore. All three are great clubs for a mid handicap player.
  20. I just bought the same camera a few hours ago!
  21. My all time favorite show is South Park. The Simpsons, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, and NCIS are close seconds.
  22. I've been hitting my CG4's for about a month now. They hold up really well, just about the same as the CG11's.
  23. We almost have the same set of clubs!
  24. I'd go with the bag/irons/driver setup over the complete set. The GT3's and the TaylorMade driver are higher quality clubs.
  25. Based on personal experience, I would go with the Wilson Deep Red's. I owned a set of Wilson Fat Shafts (the cheaper version of the Deep Red's) for years and I loved them. They helped me go from a 35+ handicap to a 11 handicap in less than two years.
