  1. Welcome aboard. Take some time and find out who Jack was/is and it will make you REALLY appreciate what Tiger is doing. Both are awesome talents in their own rights. Cheers
  2. Some people use humming/singing to help with tempo ie. if you hum while you make a swing the tone should stay the same throughout the swing. As for listening to music I have had people tell me that it helps them stay present and not "think" too much. Whatever works, I'm sure there are much stranger things that people do to help with their game. Good luck
  3. Good post - the embedded ball rule is one that many players fail to use or don't know. Cheers
  4. Thanks. It's such a thrill to see someone's eyes light up when they sink a putt or strike a ball well. If we can get someone started early in the game of golf - it can be a life long interest if not passion. It really is rewarding hopefully more golfers (the First Tee does a great job) will mentor someone and grow this great game from the ground up. Cheers
  5. That is the truth. I look at golf as a series of challenges - a bad lie, behind a tree and hopefully, sometimes, a perfect lie after a great shot. The rules of golf level the playing field for everyone and most of them make a lot of sense. If you don't play by the rules then you're missing out on some of those challenges that makes this such a great game.
  6. Go ahead and scream you deserve it. Besides then the next time we hear you scream we'll be thinking he must have shot a great round (but only you'll know the truth)
  7. Absolutely and unfortunately good range/ bad round also. As perplexing as it is I'll take bad range/good round anyday (low expectations and good results). Good range/bad round is very demoralizing. You come off the practice range thinking I'm just going to kill it and the next thing you know you're in a slow motion car wreck. Gotta love this game. Cheers
  8. Now you're just trying to make us jealous!! Just kidding. It is a great pastime for the whole family. Cheers
  9. And if your situation is anything like mine that's why she tells her girlfriends she lets you go play golf - "To get away from the ball and chain"
  10. It's a hard hole for all of the reasons previously posted. Any combination of those reasons plus knowing that if you screw up there 18 isn't likely to help you out much makes it pretty intimidating.

    golf dream

No really pick the pipe back up - I want to hear the end of this. Cheers P.S. When you got to J D and the little doggie - I got scared for a minute
  12. There was a reason that Tiger had posters of Jack on the wall. That reason - Jack was the greatest golfer of all time (considered by many). Maybe this is a 3 part question 1.) Who's the greatest ever and 2.) who's the greatest today and 3.) It is the same person?
  13. You're right. Until he admits he has a problem, he won't be able to get over that problem.
  14. Many of us share your frustration at a lack of "good" practice areas. Your single digit HCP speaks well of the practice you manage to get. Hats off to you - Cheers
  15. Start of a pretty sweet looking track - Good on you!!
  16. I'm trying to get my 5 yr old granddaughter interested. Just going to try to keep it fun and not push her too hard. We're trying to start up a junior golf league hopefully the girls will be as interested as the boys.
  17. I think he also said that hitting a ball straight was the hardest shot in golf. I must say it always surprises me.
  18. I think this is where a lot of people get hung up. On a short stroke it's easy to think that the putter is taken straight back and straight through but as the stroke lengthens it takes more and more manipulation to maintain SBST. At the same time those who think that an arc stroke is manipulated have trouble realizing that on a short stroke it is almost impossible to see it as an arc stroke.
  19. I'm a fan of the LPGA - try to watch whenever I can. I think that one of the biggest problems for the LPGA (and perhaps for the PGA someday) is that so many people just do not get it - golf I mean. If they haven't played themselves it looks like a slow, tedious game. Most of the other sports people have some sort of connection to the game, they've played in school etc. It always amazes me how many people I talk to that have never picked up a golf club let alone played a round of golf. It may be too late for the LPGA but they need to get women and better yet girls to get involved in playing the sport. Most people I know who play also love to watch.
  20. Real generalization (I know there are exceptions) + = amount of time High Hcp - Driving ++++, irons +++, wedges ++, putting + Low Hcp = Driving +, irons ++, wedges +++, putting ++++ With the pros the ratio is probably the same but the fact that they practice so much in a day the amount of time driving, iron play etc is probably quite long compared to amateurs.

    Captains choice.

That has got to be the net score - and it's very good for that!

    The Players!

I wonder if Steven Ames is thinking that (or saying aloud). One thing that has motivated Tiger thoughout his career is people making predictions of his demise.
  23. Barring a train wreck you are absolutely correct! Good luck and good playing!!
  24. Got to agree with iacas on this one. Straight back, straight through works on short putts but on any slow or long (and heaven forbid a slow and long) putt it can get you into trouble. My thought is that I don't want to have this stroke for this length putt and this stroke for anything longer. For consistency I vote for the arc stoke. Cheers
  25. Here's to hoping! Good luck
