  1. If the scratch golfer gets to hit from the ladies tees.. sure he could win :)
  2. ^totally agree. demoed the 3dx today..
  3. true. i see lots of new sets in a local golf shop that are sold as 1/2" to 1.5" lengthened. it definitely is cheaper than buying a completely custom set.
  4. I've never been "fitted" for clubs and i'm doing just fine.
  5. Tad is not really 5'1". I've seen him around the island before (i live in hawaii and on the same island he does) and he is not much shorter than me and i'm 5'8". I'd guess he's probably 5'5" or something. He is also not as nice or happy as he seems on tv. Ever heard of napoleon complex or "short-man's syndrome?" well, he has it.
  6. your 20* hybrid almost replaces your 5w all by itself.. stick with the 3wood
  7. what glove are you using? FJ WeatherSof usually lasts me at least a couple of months.
  8. I'd just buy it used if it's in good condition and you like the club. I'm personally looking for used clubs right now to replace my 5wood and 3wood.
  9. I know how you feel. Recently my grip had gotten a bit strong and i too was hitting push/push fades. What's funny is I always thought strong grips created hooks.. oh well :) Simple fixes that ultimately do solve the problem are always nice.
  10. Before I graduated from highschool I played golf year round (Hawaii weather, go figure) but this year (my last year of undergrad) I'll have played from April to October or whenever it gets cold. Leaving Hawaii in 4 days and bringing my clubs with me :)
  11. Well i was more concerned with swing analysis or analysis of what their practice cage might indicate. I don't know what appropriate ranges of ball speed/swing speed/smash factor are so I wanted to see if you guys thought the golf galaxy staff was educated on the matter? I know very little about the technical aspects surrounding golf. I know my swing and i can generally figure out what is causing the problems i experience, but aside from feel and results (ball flight, shot shape, distance) I have no idea how to find the club(s) that's "right" for me.
  12. nevermind, agreed. golf began as a gentleman's game and i think should remain as such :) Old guys take you seriously if you hit better than them. :)
  13. I only use one glove per round. unless of course you mean you buy a new glove every single round?
  14. I chose square shoulders + square stance but honestly my stance tends to be a little open at times.
  15. I use the stock tour velvet grips that come on most titleist clubs. I also bring along a sweat towel for me as well as a towel to wipe the grips.
  16. are the bobby jones' hybrids really that good?
  17. Sounds like you're playing on a pretty serious course. As a higher handicapper I avoided those courses like the plague to avoid getting discouraged. good luck to you :)
  18. cheapest wooden tees i can find :) Or if you're really cheap just build your own tee with the divot replacing sand in the cart.
  19. Very true. There's a cone on the range I hit at thats about 158 yards away.. i can literally hit the cone once or twice every 10 tries and put it really close the other 8 or 9 times with a 7iron. Ask me to put it within 20 feet of the pin from 158 on a course and i'll maybe do it 2 or 3 times out of 10.
  20. Yea growing up playing here really gets you accustomed to all the wind :)
  21. Does anyone know if I can "trust" the golf galaxy employees to know what they're talking about when it comes to replacing my 5wood and 3wood?
  22. seems like its blocked for a reason eh?
  23. I don't know about your coaches, but at my first highschool tryout the coach was not impressed with my then natural draw. He asked me "So what if you need to hit it straight or need a fade?" At the time I couldn't really control my shot shape like I can now so when he asked me to hit it straight or fade it I pretty much failed. So if i were you i would work on your shot shape control :)
  24. I tend to adhere to the rules when I'm trying to track my handicap, but I don't care if my friends take mulligans or don't finish putts or stuff like that... they're probably 20 or so handicaps. That said, I still go out and play a lot of rounsd where I just practice and hit lots of balls from various areas of the course. It's ok not to follow all the rules all the time :) Just have fun
  25. I've always used the FJ WeatherSof (I think thats the model.. it costs like $9 or something). I use one for the range and one on the course. I'm going to estimate that the range glove lasts for at least 4000 balls and even more practice swings. Seems like a lot doesnt it? I estimate 4k balls because i've gone to the range almost everynight for the past two months and hit anywhere between 100-200 balls each time. so thats probably a minimum of 4000 balls and my glove still hasnt peeled or torn or gotten crusty at all. I've never had a "good" glove though so i don't know about the feel quality or anything of that sort.
