  1. 1. Get my handicap under 10 2. Break 80 at least 5 times 3. Now that I have some disposable income and am a respectable golfer I would like to play some of the nicer courses in the area
  2. went in late and got a round in early in the morning
  3. I realize I am on the course to have fun and just take a deep breath and relax
  4. As a Pastor, I have a lot of freedom to sneak out and play golf. Especially since there are probably 10-12 members of the church who are regular golfers and are inviting me out on to the course with them on a consistent basis
  5. 39, 3 bogies, 6 pars 16 putts 3/7 gir (misses weren't bad, besides one) 4/9 GIR (2 fringes, so ballstriking was pretty solid for me) 2/5 u/d Game is feeling pretty good. Ballstriking has gotten better, which has led to increased distances. need to work on getting up and down and making some of those 12-15 foot birdie putts.
  6. Where do you work? I am assume at some point in the chain of your job there are customers, and if the customers weren't there you would not have a job. Are you out meeting all those customers giving autographs?
  7. yeah a guy in a tournament to win 10 million, wants time to himself. What a jerk. Sometimes people have ridiculous expectations of athletes
  8. Played a beautiful course this morning. It will become a regular in my rotation in future seasons Score: 80, 39/41 Rating: 70.4/124 Scores: 11 pars, 6 bogies, 1 double GIR: 10/18 FIR: 8/14 Putts: 35, U/D - 1/8 Struck my irons very well. Very happy with my greens in regulations, but had 5 or 6 10-15 foot birdie putts that I just couldn't get to drop. I need to work on my putting and start to sink some of those. My chipping was also very poor today which hurt my score, as I failed to save par several times. Most of it was my putting though, just couldn't figure out the speed. All in all very happy with the round
  9. Short Par 3 that plays about 125 yards. Have to carry the water 110 yards, and then 2 big sand traps to the right. Flag was playing middle left. Ball hit 4 feet past the hole 1 hopped and settled for a 6 foot birdie putt. Of course I missed the putt, but the shot off the tee felt great
  10. Lansing area here
  11. I am 26 and use a pull cart. I messed up my back in high school and I have no desire to make it worse.
  12. Handicap 12.2 Average drive - 240
  13. yeah I know and have read it. Now I am asking to make sure I understand it properly. But thanks for your help
  14. Lately I have been hitting a substantial straight draw with my mid and long irons. My short irons and wedges are generally straight or a slight 2-3 yard draw. However my mid and long irons start straight but then draw probably 10-15 yards. My understanding of the ball flight laws is that the club face is square at impact, but I am swinging to far inside to out which is causing the huge draw. Is that correct?
  15. Its not Northern Michigan, but Eagle Eye just outside of Lansing is a must play
  16. Don't have him do 100 practice swings unless he wants to
  17. Shot a +2, 38 this morning Didn't hit a single fairway, but was in complete control with the irons and was in good positions just off the fairway on most holes. 38 2 bogey, 7 pars 3/5 up and down 15 putts 4/9 Gir
  18. How would one know how big the cone should be?
  19. Arcadia Bluffs, I have played it once and want to play it again and again and again and again
  20. The tips and drills you mention throughout this board, have completely changed my golf game. I came into this year without an official handicap, but I would normally shoot in the mid 90's, with being in the 100's not out of the question and it was frustrating and not all that fun. With the hip slide, deep hands, and keep the weight on the left side tips and drills, I have become a much better golfer. Over the last 5 rounds(scorecard not updated, hope to soon) I have hit 65% of fairways with an average driving distance of gps measured 244 yards and good drives are going 260-270. Even better is I have hit 57% of greens in regulation and my ball striking has become very solid and I am now confident hitting a 5 iron into a green when I need to. Over those last 5 rounds I have shot 76, 79, 82, 80, 78. Some of the absolute best scores of my life and I would not be anywhere near those scores with out the help all of you provide. I now believe I can begin to focus on putting and the short game and watch the scores really begin to drop. My golf game is forever indebted to all of you. So once again I say Thanks, and if any of you are ever in the Lansing, MI area I owe you a round of golf.
  21. I have gained distance with it and much more consistency in my swing. I went through about 1 1/2 month spell this summer where I could not figure out anything below an 8 iron, but I have been making this change and my scores have dropped steadily as my long irons are now very consistent and are about 8-10 yards longer then they use to be. Caught a 6 iron extremely well in a round this morning that was gps measured at 184. It is use to be my 160-165 club, and now is my 172-178 club.
  22. Will be doing this. Haven't decided which course I want to play at though. If anyone in the Lansing or Jackson areas of Michigan wants to play let me know, my regular partners didn't sound like they wanted to participate
  23. I have the Rife Antigua and I absolutely love it. But I tried probably 20 putters before settling on one. Head to a golf store and hit them and find the one you like, putters are a very personal thing
  24. you couldn't visually tell the difference between 40 yards and 120 yards?
