  1. FINALLY broke 80!!!! Shot 78(39/39) today...played exceptionally faster than usual also. Can't decide if playing a bit quicker helped me or if I would've shot the same had I played slower. Nevertheless, I'm ecstatic.
  2. Nike One Platinum...great feel, good distance, consistent spin and flight. Got 100 of them for 70 cents a piece at lostgolfballs.com. Cant beat it.
  3. Yeah it's terrible...basically the entire east coast is getting drenched on a regular basis. And I will play in the rain it's just that around here when it rains in the summer it usually has lightening with it...and I don't do lightening.
  4. Watch the 7:55 tee time of Ian Poulter, Justin Leonard and Robert Allenby. There are 3 dark horses that have not been mentioned. Maybe for good reason but I think one of these 3 will be up there on the weekend.
  5. 4 iron off the tee 52* wedge around the green
  6. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I have to wear a glove simply due to sweaty hands...in fact, I wear 2 gloves about 80% of the time. Not because I think "Tommy Two-Gloves" is cool but because if I'm trying to grip a club with both hands I believe I should have a glove on both. It really improves my game both physically and psychologically. And for anyone that is like me....you should really try the black 'rain glove' packs as opposed to buying a standard white right and left.
  8. Yeah I can too. It's sort of like having that same dream over and over with some minor details a bit different.
  9. Justin Leonard
  10. How many former #1 in the world does a golfer face for 4 days in a row at a major? More. How many different variables do golfers have to overcome in golf aside from other players? More. Which athlete could possibly be battling it out with more than one great player at the end of their respective major? Tiger. Maybe I'm just cripplingly biased.
  11. Flatten out your back swing. I have recently been crushing all of my longer irons just from this simple 'fix'. Slow your swing tempo down and take the club back lower and a bit to the inside. Make a conscious effort to do so and I promise you will see SOME amount of improvement. IMHO, most people can't hit a long iron because they are coming in too steep to the ball at impact. If you will try to swing 'around' your body more instead of 'up and down' it will help. Don't worry about 'hitting down' on to the golf ball, you are going to do that inevitably. Hope that made sense and helps. Good Luck!!
  12. I is twenty 3
  13. Putting. If I could one putt more often and 3 putt less often I would be incredibly satisfied with my game.
  14. I really do hope Phil does decent just for sentimental reasons but I like Stenson this week. He's obviously a great player, just to do what he did at the Players against the best field and a very tough course...I'm sure he'll have his game face on with only a week before the US open. I'll be looking for him on the first page come Sunday. I'd also like to think David Toms will be up there in contention on the weekend. He won this event in '03 and '04, add in 6 top 10s and he's looking solid for this week.
  15. If you have a more shallow swing that often produces a draw or hook you can try making your swing plane steeper and less from the inside...those 2 things together produce a nice high fade for me. Good Luck!
  16. The pitching wedge, as it is usually a part of a 'set' of irons, is rarely a true wedge, it's more like a 10 iron. So I don't believe we can accurately say he has 5 wedges. Take out the the 54 and leave yourself with the 52, 56 and 60...this is a more common set up and will take care of clearing some space.
  17. The Hot Bites are great but it is my opinion that they are almost the exact same ball as the Top Flite Gamer with a different dimple pattern but the Gamer is $10 dollars less. Callaway owns Top Flite so it shouldn't surprise. I've played both balls and they are very similar in just about every important category including durability in which they are both pretty poor. But distance, feel, and spin are all great.
  18. I had the same problems and fixed my slice the same way...AND I also started chunking my irons from time to time. The reason I was chunking was because I was getting my lower body and weight through well but leaving my arms and club behind so I could come from the inside more. If you just slow everything down a bit and work on your tempo and timing between top and bottom you'll figure it out. Hope that makes sense and helps...Good Luck
  19. Just curious...what's wrong with Golf Galaxy and the like?? Not sure about the others but Golf Galaxy's employ PGA Professionals, one for each store, as far as I know. I was thinking of getting the local pro at GG to do my fitting...so help me out here.
  20. The Nike One Platinum is by FAR the best ball for the price right now...at $30/dozen it's an extreme bargain and it is just as playable and solid as the ProV1.
  21. I was doing the exact same thing the other day so I just moved the ball back to where my club was usually hitting the ground first and started hitting it great. Obviously this is just a simple quick fix but maybe it will help you out during rounds while you practice a more permanent solution. Another thing you can try is keeping your eyes on the front/target side of the ball instead of the back. Good Luck!
  22. In my experience, if you really spend a lot of time hitting balls and working on your full swing you will start to understand and 'feel' what it takes to shape shot a certain way. I recently decided to eliminate, once and forever, my little fade/slice and battling through that swing change (from over the top to inside-out) I figured out how to work the ball pretty consistently. Maybe I got lucky and just worked and practiced enough to stumble into it. I think once someone understands the fundamentals and basic principles of how a golf swing works he will be able to control his ball flight quite handily. I'm not even close to a single digit handicap but I think I can get there one day and learning to shape shots is just a step along the way that one will reach once he understands the golf swing and his swing, more importantly. Hope that made sense.
  23. Clark misses yet another putt to win...
  24. Stick with it. Keep swinging and practicing. Watch some videos on youtube by Shawn Clement, 'ClemShaw' on youtube. He has very simple and easy to understand concepts/videos that will help you out. As long as you keep improving, even if it's the most minute detail, you will get more and more out of your rounds. It's an extremely tough game as I'm sure you've realized so be patient. Good Luck!!
  25. 60*--75y 56*--95y 52*--105 PW--115 9i--125 8i--135-140 7i-150-155 6i--160-165 5i--175ish 4i--185ish 3h--190-195 3W--210-220 Driver--240-250 total Note: My irons are brand new so these distances are a combo. of my old Nicklaus irons and the KE4s. The distances are my BEST estimate using the driving range. Can't wait to get a laser range finder so I can nail them down a little better.
