People say vinegar will work and it does... however my dad used it to take some rust off his black scotty it took the rust off, but it also took the black paint right off

Oakley sunglasses

I've got a pair of twenties and a set of wire frames. I wear the wire frames for everything except golf which the twenties are designated for. The twenties have blue lenses and the wire frames have smoke lenses. I do not wear the glasses all the time on the course but when i do i don't usually putt with them on. -
playing without a glove
millencolinman replied to clearwaterms's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I would like to get out of New England and play some courses. Its not 100% the heat thats responsible I'm just one sweaty son of a gun. Also, probobly doesn't help that all of my clubs need to be regripped. -
playing without a glove
millencolinman replied to clearwaterms's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I play with a few people that go without gloves, its not really an option for me because my hands sweat more then any person i know so i need the extra grip. In fact in the summer when its really really hot i may break out the rain gloves they sweat so badly. -
It is refreshing to hear about and meet polite people at golf courses. There are far to many people that need a little lesson in manors. I found a wedge on a green the other day and ran it up to the group in front of me. The guy who's wedge it was didn't even give me a thank you. Just took it from me when i handed it to him and kept on walking.

The one time i was hit into when i was in plain sight i practiced chipping with their ball, of course the target was the near by pond. On the topic of hitting into people my biggest issue i ever had was someone trying to get me to do it. I got I was playing with my girlfriend and this lady wanted to play with us so I assumed it might be a good idea for my girlfriend to play another woman. The first hole is a short little par four so i waited for the group in front to get to the green before i teed off. She got angry at the slow pace and told me just to hit into them. It was a weekend so of course play was going to be slow. Anyway i assumed she was just kidding, but she proceeded to try to get me to hit into them on almost every hole. Luckily i have played the course before and knew my distances and wouldn't fall for her bs. To top it off she would not stop trying to give my girlfriend swing lessons. If my gf can hit her 5 iron further then this lady hits her driver i wouldn't be giving out lessons. Needless to say i was very happy to find out she was just playing nine holes.

I really don't mind starting with a par three but for some reason I really hate when courses end with par 3s something about it really bugs me. I've played a course where the last two holes are par 3s of almost exactly the same length and that just drives me crazy for some reason.

Frozen fingers - ideas?
millencolinman replied to Fat Slice's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I usually have success with my footjoy winter gloves and keeping my hands tucked in my pockets when not holding a club. -
When i can't golf I practice Jiu Jitsu. It has really helped improve my flexibility and helped me work through some lower back problems. Its a great way to stay in shape and i would recomend it to anyone.

The main problem with hitting off of mats is that they can hide or deminish mistakes made when you hit the ball. On mats if you hit a ball a little fat the club tends to skip and still make good contact unlike when hitting off of grass where the club digs and you chunk a shot. So you may feel like you where hitting the ball great then get on the course and find out you're hitting everything fat.

Back when i first started i managed to hit myself. I sliced a ball bad into a tree line and lost the ball from my sight. As i stood there looking stupid i heard someone yell look out looked up and the ball came down and hit me in the hand. Felt pretty dumb for that one

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you have experience in setting up a charity event? I recently lost a family member to breast cancer and would really like to set up a tourny to support her son. Sadly, i don't think that i will be able to get the tourny up and running until the spring so i may have to set it up in her honor and have the benefits go towards cancer research. If anyone has any suggestions on how to go about doing this i would greatly appreciate it.

I'm not 100% sure but i think at least with drivers that the face can eventually go "dead" i've personally seen this happen. My father and another guy that i usually play with both played the same model callaway we began to speculate that my dads friends club was shot and we each hit both clubs back to back to find out his friends was considerably shorter then my fathers. So we came to assume that his friends driver was dead

MacGreggor sale at Golfsmith
millencolinman replied to SQ Bimmer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Gotta love people ragging on companies without giving an explanation why they don't like it. Unless you have a legit reason to dislike these clubs keep your posts to yourself. -
Thats a pretty good idea, I personally always keep my pants and extra rain gear in the trunk of my car and only pull them out when rain is in the forcast but i tip my hat to you for thinking outside the box

What ball do you use
millencolinman replied to aca247's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I usually prefer playing tp red. I happened to recieve a gift certificate the other day and used it to pick up some Z stars and have been very pleased with the performance of these balls -
MacGreggor sale at Golfsmith
millencolinman replied to SQ Bimmer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I was also curious about the newest line of MacGreggors i heard they were bought out by golfsmith and was hoping that wouldn't affect quality. I did read somewhere that the faces a prone to rusting how true this is I'm not sure. -
I remember my old warbird I loved that club probly never would have gotten rid of it if it hadn't been damaged beyound repair (dang clumsy kids back in high school). But if you want suggestions on 3 woods really just go with what you like. The only person who can tell what fits you best is you. All i can say is try to avoid brand loyalty and check out everything before you decide.

Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
millencolinman replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
I'll listen to music on my way up to the course but once i get there i don't think i could ever play a round with my ipod it would be to distracting. Plus like others have said i consider my time on the course sacred and don't like to ruin it with things like ipods or cell phones. -
rain gloves a nice quality umbrella golf is one of the most dangerous sports to have people christmas shop for, when left to pick for themselves inlaws love to find the craziest most rediculus gift to give you. So cheers to trying to not receive a bunch of brush tees and wiffle balls
