I replaced my 15* 3 wood with a 17* 2 hybrid until I can get it working for me. Whenever I pulled it out I was already convinced I would top it, so best to give it a break. I do intend to get the 3 wood working, been working a lot on my tempo which may help a lot. We'll see how the coming season goes.

Decided to go with Callaway Hurricane winter boots, I looked at the FootJoy winter boots, but this years have a suede toe. Why on earth would they put suede on a winter boot?? I'll get shoes in summer and then at least have different ones for in and out of season, may slow the damage :)

I find it alright for about 20 minutes, then I get bored. I will hit fine and then as my concentration lapses I start making stupid mistakes and shanks. That's when I know it's time to stop. Putting practice is different, I last about 5 minutes. I get so bored.

I will take a look at the green joys. I always associated leather shoes with better quality and longevity but clearly that isn't always the case. Thanks for the suggestion, I will check green joys out.

I'm trying! Finding it difficult but it's a work in progress

I seem to have a problem with golf shoes wearing out very fast. I to tend to over rotate on the downswing which causes my right foot to go over on the toe slightly. Now as a result I am going through shoes fast. I bought a pair of dry joys about 7 months ago and they are wrecked. Friction has worn away the entire toe area and there is now a hole forming, so time for new shoes. The obvious answer is of course to fix my swing, slow the tempo or swing a little less but that's an ongoing battle. Does anyone have a good durable,strong option they recommend?

I have a 6 year old who quite likes putting and chipping when he gets to the range, but getting him there seems like I am torturing him. Not sure If i should lay off and just not encourage him at this point. He's got a decent little swing but looking out for ideas to make it something he asks for more. A way to make it more fun.

I agree with Runnin on that one. it may have been genuinely thoughtless or maybe he was looking to put you off. Really, just take a moment, realign and putt. No point letting little things annoy you.

I have no natural talent for the game at all. I did about a 4 month block of weekly lessons just to get to where I am at now. It was just pure tenacity and refusal to let golf beat me. Breaking 100 felt like a miracle! Now I am usually around 90-94 on an average round. They do work for sure, but it takes a lot of practice too.

I was also looking at split cavity Nike VRs at the start of this year. I ended up going for the Nike Slingshot HL's They do have a slightly bigger sole but looking down on then you would never know, its disguised well and not offputting. Also they dont feel chunky liek the Big Berthas with fat soles do. I am a high handicapper and have seen significant improvement with the slingshots.

If I hit the ball at a driving range I have mainly good, straight shots yet when out on the course I tend to slice alot. The driving range is not always a good place to fix your swing problems. i would say the best way to learn golf is by playing golf.

When we figured out they were counterfeit I tried contacting ebay/paypal but they have a 45 day rule. If you dont complain in 45 days then its your problem. The seller of the clubs has since removed his ebay account. I am told he had several hundred positive feedback which is why she thought it was ok. These people take advantage of novices and people who know no different. My wife isnt a golfer, she didnt even know fakes existed so was not looking out for them. I have to agree also that purposely buying counterfeit clubs is wrong in my opinion. There are moral and legal reasons for me saying that but also quality. A low budget clubs will probaby be a better starting point, or 2nd hand clubs.

Because I have only been playing under a year I was worried I was learning to hit bad clubs well. If I later moved on to "real" quality clubs I may have developed an unorthodox swing which wouldn't work. I didnt want to risk that. I think of them as worthless because I dont want to risk it.

It depends on what camera you have, does the snapshots go on a SD card? My canon HV30 is HDV and works using HD tape so not all cameras have the SD card facility. Did you try any of the suggestions in this thread?

I have a Titleist 503-H which is awesome. my Nike irons come with a 3/4 Hybrid which I very rarely use. I much prefer to pull out my Titleist hybrid.

I have to agree it's really really annoying. I play with my brother in-law (because I feel obliged), he is a Hcap 18 and I am 27. I have been playing under a year but coming along not too bad. Still often hit around 105-110 though. He often tries to get me to move my feet, hands, etc. I know he is trying to help but it really just hacks me off and probably makes me play worse because I'm annoyed. He is also really bad for saying things like "ssssh that guy is taking his shot" even if Im whispering. Then he wont shut his trap when I am taking mine. So I know just what you mean, except I feel roped into playing this guy often. At least you can never play him again!

Have you installed camera drivers on the laptop? How are you checking for recognition? Are you expecting a drive to appear in "my computer" or are you loading your editing software and its not showing there? have you looked in the windows XP camera and scanner wizard to see if it shows in there?

Some really nice courses in East Lothian, Enjoy. My wife is the main reason my handicap is high. If I had my way I would be out every day.

I often find myself at the side of the green in 2 or 3 and then walk away with a 6 or 7. My shortgame is really really bad. my chips always seem to go miles away from the hole and then I end up 3 putting! or worse! I need some solid time at a par 3 myself. My wife hates that I spend time playing golf so often so its hard to get out much midweek. My point is, it could be worse, it could be like mine

Yea, ebay seems riddled with fakes. Especially from Singapore etc but as described in my experience from other places too. If a price seems a little cheap then stay away I would say. I also got burnt buying concert tickets on ebay so I have given up on that site completely.

Just a heads up for other Callaway users out there. My wife bought me a set of callaway X-20s with graphite shafts last year. I used them until last month without too many problems. After learning she had only paid £370 for the set I was a little suspicious. I then found out she got them from a Calafornia seller on ebay. I phoned Callaway and provided the serial number from my 8 Iron and it matched an exact set, so I thought she got lucky and kept using them. Last month to be sure I took them to American Golf. They did a magnet test on the head which passed, they looked almost identical to the real deal. 2 things gave them away as being fake. The kerning on the word "Callaway" on the back of the heads were very very slightly larger and the grip had a strong rubber smell. The salesman said it was one of the best fakes he had ever seen. The shaft was cheaper than it should be but they actually hit fine. So we are £370 worse off and the not so proud owners of worthless clubs. It did give me the perfect excuse to go shopping for new clubs though Just a heads up for anyone who thinks they can get a bargain on ebay. Don't.

I am new here so a quick introduction. I am from Edinburgh, Scotland and I have been playing for just under a year. My current handicap is 27. If i can cut down the fairway duffs and tighten my putts then I have a chance at getting my handicap lower! I went to see a pro for a lesson the other day and I was told my main problem is my wrists dont come around quickly enough, so as well as the odd duff a lot of my shots go to the right. I am one of those guilty of knocking my tee shots about 250+ to the right hand side! My wife is due a baby any day now so this year may end upa write off, but then I will have a child to make into the next tiger woods :) Enough about me anyway, look forward to getting to know a lot of you. 1) Get my HCap down 2) Fix my swing so I dont hit right all the time (I dont get my wrists around on time) 3) consistantly break 100 I've been playing for 1 year or thereabouts and have a 27 hcap. I always seems to hit irons to the right of where intended and I often slice my drives really really far to the right. All to do with my wrists a pro told me. I have a baby due any day now so I may not make these goals, I will try though!

I am 27 and have a 27 hcap too. I've been playing under a year and cant seem to get that hcap down!
