Had my personal worst Sunday. Literally almost every club , except putter was struck way inside of the heel, many weak fades and the dressed S word. Even with driver ball striking off the heek/hosel area. Fortunately I never got mad and just laughed all day about it with my partner. The week before I couldn't miss hitting flush shots and bombing drives. Driver was an embarrassment of barely reaching 175 yards with a terrible slice and even worse sound of contact. Monday went to hit balls into my net in the back yard, going through my set up and wondering where it went wrong. My wife decided to hang outside and watch, she doesn't golf but she noticed on my downswing, my hips and rear shoulder looked like they were coming up. So worked on that and at initial set up I had my hands lower than earlier, made sure I stayed down through impact and ball striking was 100% better. Makes me think my setup on the course was a little too upright causing my weight to fall towards toes a bit Crazy how this game messes with your head. I know ill be back on the course hitting better shots, I've done it before, so I know I can do it again.

Recently she got promoted in the retail business here and now makes more then me lol. She wouldn't mind moving if there's a transfer possible. Her last job they wanted to promote her and take over stores, but was more North into Connecticut or Massachusetts. We don't want to go anywhere colder. The company she works at now has a store in Sawgrass, I told her if management opens there she better put her name in the hat lmao I have 12 years currently paying into NYS retirement, but sadly its a new crappy tier so technically I'm not "stuck" here. I do have my CDL so can def use it somewhere else. Plus most of my family is in Florida so makes that decision easier if we go

Currently here in lower Hudson Valley, 34 and rain. Was 70 a couple weeks ago but work weekdays and couldn't get out to one of the few courses open. Since last summer its like clock work, dry most of the week and weekends are a washout. My local course opens Monday.....I need to move south

My goals for 2024. - consistently break 90 I can do that by - fix erratic driver shots. Summer 2023 into end of season developed a bad slice. Obviously lost balls and shots, or many approach shots from rough or impossible shots to get on or around in regulation. Driver used to be my best club, nice, straight or even a slight draw bias - ball striking with irons and wedges. Ironically improved in 2023, however driver went the wrong way so they offset eachother. Luckily I have a net set up outside to hit balls here in New York. Thankfully Haven't had much snow to keep me inside - course management. What also kills me, is getting later in rounds getting fed up with poor tee shots, ill try something stupid hero shot and puts me in worse position. Also got to learn to just lay up when possible

Played in a simulator last week for first time, shot an 84. Add probably 5 strokes or so being its obviously easier off a mat, basically my normal day out on the course. Not looking for scores inside, just want to keep my swing throughout the winter. Might even take lessons from the guy, definitely need help with my wedges, I don't take full swings, but my tempo gets off, especially at the end of this season, and occasionally somehow hit and awful shank/45degree left shot with a severely open face.

Thanks, after this response it don't seem worth it to me Never hit them thought about trying them. However after a few replies it dont seem worth it. I don't have any issues getting my current 5i launched. Its good in the 175-185 yard range. But lower loft like you said could make it more difficult.

Fortunately my wife doesn't care how much I golf. We are both in our mid 30s. She doesn't play but loves tagging along and driving the cart. Shes there to drink a few cocktails, look for balls in the woods with a retriever and make fun of my game. We even went on a cruise to Bermuda this summer and let me play at Port Royal while she tagged along as well. Im off weekends and she works 95% of weekends so those are wide open for me

Keep swinging in a simulator in the winter to stay consistent. That's a big if being I plow snow for the town and can be called into work at any second My last round last week outside, back 9 hit 5 of 9 GIR. Amazing how much smoother a swing is when you're constantly playing. Im still a 18ish handicap, short game betrays me from time to time. Wish there was a better way in winter to improve the short game. I have an indoor putting mat and chipping net with soft balls, works good for ball striking I guess

Right now I have a set of One Length Cobra F8s. I really thought about getting the new Cobra LTDx One Lengths. The PW of the F8 is 44*. However the LTDx is 41.5*. The 5i of the F8 is 22.5*. The LTDx is 20.5*. My question is, there will be a bigger gap between a new PW and my standard length 49* AW (yea a 44 to 49 is a solid gap as well but its pretty well gapped yardage wise). And my current 4h will basically be the same loft as a new 5i. Will it be a waste of time getting new irons without buying a complete new set of wedges. Or is technology so far advanced in the shafts that the lofts don't mean as much comparing new and old irons.

Breaking 90 consistently. Which means I have to have a better short game. Been chipping and putting in my basement all winter. Went to the range once this winter to work on irons and woods, was actually a good session for not swinging in a few months. My issues last year was not being able to get up and down for par, or even bogey sometimes, thus running the score past 90

Well after back to back 86s at two different courses. Followed up past week with a 95, 102, 101. I was hitting my irons well with the 86s. Now I'm chunking, or hitting a weak fade coming up 10-20 yards short. Idk what's going on. Kind of feels like my weight is hanging back too much and/or my swing feels too steep

Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic

Shot an 86 last week, first time breaking 90 this season. Shooting a 39 on back nine was a great accomplishment for me. First time ever breaking 40 on a 9. Front I had 4 doubles in a row from 6-9. 9th hole is a uphill par 5. Duck hook driver 120 yards into right rough. Then 3 straight tops. Now I'm shooting 5 from 165 yards away, thinking here it is, the ultimate blowup. Stuck the green and 2 putted for a 7, crisis avoided. I was walking and pushing a cart, my out of shape a** must not like swinging a club while huffing for air in the Florida like humidity 😂 Scoring low 90s and better consistently, I see keeping the ball in play and putting is the main factor. -
I'm the same way. Get stuck behind slow play and I just lose interest

Played Stony Ford course today. ( barely made 640 tee time after seeing a 1 car wreck so I pulled over to call and help the patients). Shot my best round 86. Thought the wheels fell off holes 6-9, then somehow went +3 on the back 9

Last summer at West Point NY. Friend and I did a twilight 4pm after work. Was a 2sum ahead of us. About 12th hole we finally asked if they wanted to pair up to hopefully get 18 in. They politely declined, and told us to play through being they just messing around with their 7 irons. Realized one of them was the Colonel of West Point. So now on a tee on a par 3, Colonel watching....hosel rocket directly into the woods 😑😑😂. He chuckled and said to hit another, thankfully I stuck it to the green.
