  1. How fun is Arsenal to watch this year? Man they are fast. It's amazing that the average age of their midfielders/forwards is something like 23-24. Arshaven is a beast. I remember watching him when he still played for St. Petersburg and thinking that he wouldn't be there much longer... sure enough Arsenal signed him not long afterwards.
  2. 1) Michael Phelps 2) Lance Armstrong 3) Ali 4) Pele 5) Jordan 6) Babe Ruth 7) Ronaldo (Brazilian not Cristiano) - I only say this because if I say Ronaldo to my parents they know the Brazilian, but not Cristiano. Although these are only two people, I am pretty sure most parents would at least recognize his name. 8) Lin Dan - While this name means nothing to people outside of Asia, its hard to overlook that chunk of the world with their Billions of people... I made my list based on "Most Recognizable." Just their names, not their faces.
  3. I have a tee time at Indian Creek tomorrow at 2:30. With another day of rain apparently coming tomorrow (70% chance), would anyone be able to take a guess at how playable it will be assuming it does not rain tomorrow?
  4. I would say check out the Nike Victory Red Spilt Cavities as well. I went for the full cavity because I wanted more forgiveness than you would probably need. I have been amazed with how soft and pure these Irons feel when I hit them. I you like some of the Mizunos mentioned above, I would definitely say at least give these a look over.
  5. I love my CG14. Anything within fifty yards and you can bet I am putting it close. It doesn't spin as much as I want to, but I have been more than happy with the control I have shown with the CG14. They are both phenomenal clubs and I really think it is a matter of preference.
  6. Definitely check out the Nickent 4DX Ironwood, as well as Adams Hybrids, if you are looking for easy to hit 3Hs.
  7. I only have 2 sets... Tommy Armour 847 since I was 13/14 and recently purchased the Nike Victory Red Full Cavity. If you want an extremely smooth feeling club with a ton of "pop," check out the Victory Reds.
  8. I agree. I wanted to try some new balls out the other day, but didn't want to spend a ton of money. Bough a sleeve of TM Red and Bridgestone e6+. I love the way e6+ feel. I have also been very lucky since I got a new set of clubs - 3 rounds played 3 pro-v1s found.
  9. That "ball-fitting" thing for Bridgestone is dumb... it only lists the B3_ _, aka the more expensive balls. Just buy a sleeve of the two balls you are considering and test them out when you play...
  10. 83... I expect to break 80 in the next month though (Just picked up golf after a few year break, so still working on getting back to where I was). Q: What is your favorite hobby? (Other than golf)
  11. I bought a Scotty Cameron Red X5 and a Titleist 909F2 3W... but that's what I had planned for several weeks to buy.
  12. If I could swing like Fred Couples I would do anything... anything.
  13. I put Winn Excels on my driver, 3W, and Hybrid. I love the way they feel.
  14. I actually had 2 best shots... Both of em were about 30-40 foot chips that I somehow sunk. I was happier with the second one because I had to factor in a large swell between the hole and where my ball was placed. Both were for birdie on par 3s. Somehow on the back nine I managed to only shoot two over... those two birdies and two doubles, which were in the first two holes of the back nine. So for 7 holes I played probably my best golf ever.
  15. 7 Iron from about 160 away. I had sliced my drive pretty far right and couldn't see the green because of a big hill with a tree on it blocking my view. I picked a big branch on the tree to try and shoot over, put it about 15 feet from the hole, I was pumped when I hopped to the top of the hill. I missed the putt though.
  16. If you wanted the most recognizable sports star - Right Now... Michael Phelps, hands down.
  17. 3W, 5i, 8i, GW, Putter Driver, 3H, 5i, 7i, 9i, SW, Putter Driver, 3H, 5i-9i, PW, SW, Putter
  18. Nike Sumo - Hit both the square and normal to see what you like more. Taylormade R9 - Probably one of the best drivers, period. It is pricey though. Callayway FT-9 - I liked this one more than the R9. Nike Dymo - Don't know much about this one, but have only heard good things. Titleist 909 - Ended up getting this as my 3W b/c I liked the driver so much. These are the ones I was hitting a few weeks ago when I was club shopping, so definitely check out some more. I ended up going with the regular Nike Sumo. It's about half the price of the others and I had more control on my shots with it, so it won out.
  19. I have only played in 1 scramble. It was my first round of golf in 6 years. I was playing with 3 of my friends who had all played in high school and continued to play some in college. I would say they are all around a 10 handicap, just a guess. Needless to say, we did not use 1 of my shots. Is that a record or something? You would think one of my long puts or chips would have made it, but no - I just had to feel worthless for 4+ hours.
  20. Shot a 95 today... Every hole I would make one beautiful shot, only to have it wiped away by a previous/later horrendous shot. I also lost more balls today than I ever have. First round with new clubs, so it can only get better! I was also pretty pissed when I came across three straight holes who had white greens - soooo much sand. Putting well today (well for me) was impossible with greens like this. Definitely not going to play there again until it rains some down here.
  21. That's what my friends and I have come to know him as. Definitely linked to too many hours playing PS3 - Pro Evolution. Got nicknames for plenty of people... too much time on our hands in school. Eto - The Cheetah Giggs - Old Man Adriano - The Beast Drogba - The Pony Bosingwa - Unibrow Ronaldo (Brazilian) - Hamburgler
  22. Good idea. I also check the used cover bin at any golf store, just to try and get lucky. I also wish he made more mallet putter head covers, oh well... the Red X5 isn't too bad looking.
  23. I think that with the spotlight and ball going towards Rooney more this year, he will put on a show now that pretty boy isn't their main offensive tool.
  24. I can't talk about the irons or fairway woods at all. However, I have hit my friends driver and I have a 4DX 3h. These clubs are amazing for the price. I have heard Nickent is right up there with Adams when it comes to hybrids, and I couldn't agree more... although I have never hit a Bobby Jones, but have heard only great things as well. The drivers feel amazing and inspire confidence - I almost bought that driver from him until I hit the Sumo. Hybrids: 9/10 Driver: 8.5/10
  25. I finally received my new Irons from Golf Galaxy, after having them fitted and then shipped. I also have not seen much discussion of these irons here, and figured I would give my say on them after a few hours out on the range - looking forward to many of these with my new bag. Just to give you a background of my golf game: I have been playing Golf since I was 7, I am now 22. I took a long break at age 14 - other sports in High School and College were more important to me, I should have stuck with golf though, I was better when I was 14 than I am now. I started up again in June after graduating. My old clubs were handed down by my dad, Tommy Armour 847s, Titleist J903 (I think) driver, Big Bertha 3W (from like 94). When I was looking at other clubs, I enjoyed hitting the Ping G10s, Callaway X22s (man these were awesome too), and Taylor Made Burners. Back the the Nike Victory Red Full Cavities: These clubs were the softest feeling club I hit off the turf at Golf Galaxy. Everything feels like I hit it on the sweet spot, and the height and distance appeared as such. I was not hitting these far as the X22s, but my slice appeared less with these. After waiting what seemed like forever, I finally got them today and went straight to the range. My first impression, after hitting the 7 Iron was, "crap, these things pop em straight up." So I shifted my feet/stance around a couple of inches and felt more comfortable. Because they were new, I could tell where I hit each ball on the head. One thing I noticed was that even when I missed the sweet spot, the shot was not as affected as much as with my old clubs. I am sure this obvious as my old ones were technologically out of date, but I am still happy with the result. The two clubs that I enjoyed hitting the most were by far the 4i and PW. On some of the 4i shots I just sat there in awe, thinking - "wow, I just did that." The PW was also easy to control - I feel very comfortable with my shots 120-100 with these. The Nike VR Full Cavity look and feel great at the approach, and the contact, as mentioned; they also feel and sound phenomenal. For someone looking at new clubs and might have liked some of the others I mentioned, I would highly recommend these. For $509 I got a 4-PW at Golf Galaxy (there is a coupon for $100 off until August 31), so not too pricy I guess. I am very happy with these irons and am looking forward to the ups and downs we all experience with our clubs on the course. I am sorry if this is not very informative, but I am sure I will learn more as I become more comfortable with them.
