6iron

I was on vacation at the beach and got paired with Sara Evan's guitar player, who was vacationing also. He was a really nice guy. I got paired with a young guy one year who kept making phone calls and telling me how much money that phone call just made him. I wasn't impressed at all!

My son and I were looking for his ball that had rolled into a ditch in the fairway. He was walking beside me and almost stepped on a coiled, ready to strike, 4' cottonmouth (water moccasin). I saw it and put my forearm across my son's chest just before he stepped on it. I went back to the cart and got my 4 iron and hit it like chopping a piece of fire wood. It crawled off and was gone before I could hit it again.

I just never use it. I use my 56* for everything close. I just started noticing that I never use the 60* and though I would use the 21* more often.

I think I'm going to change a couple of clubs in my bag. I carry a 60* wedge but never use it. I'm thinking about pulling it and replacing it with a Ping 21* hybrid. I would have a 4 iron 21* 19* 3 wood 15* I think this will work better for me.

I bought a Titleist 913h 19* and a matching 913F 3 wood. I tend to close the clubface on them and hit a hook but if I take my time and setup correctly, they are awsome.

I used Ping Anser putters for the first few years that I started playing golf because they are so popular. I switched to mallet style putters and it helped my putting quiet a bit. I was at Golfsmith in Birmingham a few years ago and wound up buying my SC KOMBI 35". The red lines behind the ball really help me and I love the looks and feel. The only negative thing about this putter is the glare from the sun I get during mid-day rounds.

I keep lots of hand size towels in my bag. I know which one (white) is for my face and which one is for grips and clubs. I carry a small microfiber towel in my back pocket to clean mud and grass stains from my ball. My face and hand towels usually stay on the cart unless it's cart path only. I never walk.

I was playing alone last week and got behind a threesome on #14. It looked like a father and his two sons. One was about 12 and the other boy looked to be 15 or so. They were hitting numerous balls everywhere and laughing at each other. The dad hit a tree in front of him and the ball bounced back to the pro tees! They were just having a good ole time and would look back at me, as if they were entertaining me. After a while I realized that they didn't understand what they were doing wasn't acceptable on a golf course so I just sit in my cart and waited penitently while they finished the last three holes. I didn't have the nerve to address the problem. If I had been on the front 9, I would have ask to play through.

I'm not a expert but I saw a guy check his with his thumbnail. He just slid it up the wedge face and said it should catch at every groove. I have a groove sharpener that I bought at Golfsmith. I keep my Cleveland CG14 grooves clean and sharp with it.

I keep my truck in my shop. When I pull in, I put all my irons in a 5 gallon bucket of water. I go back after a hour or two and brush, rinse, and dry them. I wash my driver and woods in my shop sink. My white Ping cart bag gets wiped down once a week. We have bag boys but they have never offered to clean my clubs. I've seen the bucket of water and brushes at the cart drop off area. They just put them on the cart for me. A few have offered to carry them to my truck after a round but not often. I guess they need to be trained! I usually tip $2 to $5 when they greet me.

When I first started playing golf, I played with my brother-in-law and his friend who had his card at one time. I had heard what a great golfer this guy was from a lot of people. He was red headed and had played collage football at Georgia . Well he was a really good golfer and pleasant to play with until about the 13th hole when he hit a bad approach shot. His face turned blood red and he threw his club at a pine tree as hard as a pro baseball player! He completely lost it to the point that he scared me! I have never since seen anyone become so violent on a golf course! CRAZY!

Pocket 1. ProVs Pocket 2. Shag balls Pocket 3. Advil, Band-Aids, change, sharpies, etc. Pocket 4. Rain shirt, extra socks, FJ gloves, tool for driver and woods. Pocket 5. Rubber snake, and towels. (I carry more towels than I need.) Pocket 6. Wallet, keys, and watch. Pocket 7. Sunglasses, alcohol wipes, ball mark tools and ball markers. My Edwin Watts tee bag and range finder case hang outside my bag.

I was playing alone when I made my only hole in one. I usually play with my best friend. We try to play two or three times a week.

I bought two small white bath towels at Wal-Mart just for my golf bag. I use one of them to wipe my face and hands. The other one is in my truck in case I need it. I have a red Cleveland Golf towel and a white Club Glove towel hanging on my bag. They all get washed after every round.

I'm inconsistent with my driver, plus I seem to blow up with my irons on a few holes. After I hit one in the woods with my driver, the next drive is usually straight down the middle. With my irons I seem to just loose it (shank) and it's hard to get back to par golf. I played today and shot a 89. my putter and chipping is the only part of my game that I'm happy with. I'm playing next Tuesday and Thursday, then the lesson Friday morning. I'm very stressed out over my round today! Thanks guys!

I will be getting my first golf lesson from our club pro. I'm self taught so I have no idea what to expect. Is their any suggestions you can give me to help be prepared? What can I expect him to cover? Thanks.

My 56* wedge is 14* bounce. I'm thinking about buying another 56* wedge but wondering if a lower bounce would be better. What degree bounce do you use for fairway shots?

I have Cleveland CG 14 wedges in 56* and 60*. The 56* is my scoring wedge! I have a lot of confidence with it around the green. How much better would the new RTX cavity back wedges be? Are the ROTEX grooves any better than the ZIP grooves on the CG 14s? Thanks.

I usually hit my 50* G25 U-wedge when I have 100 yards to the pin. My next wedge in the bag is a 56*, so the 50* is a lot smoother swing for me.

I really like this thread! I'm using a hat clip marker that I got at the Masters tournament this year. It's white, green, yellow, and gold that has 2013 Masters on it. I also have others in my bag. Two orange Auburn Tigers markers with the blue AU on them. Two white and black Titleist makers that came with hats that I've bought. A gold plated Susan B. Anthony $1 coin that I keep polished.

I only eat a pack of peanut butter crackers if I eat anything while playing 18. I carry 5 hour energy drinks in my bag and will drink one if I start feeling tired. My swing goes to pot when I get hot and tired. I'm working on getting in better shape and losing a few pounds. I'm 53 years old.
