I found an actual article so you can read rather than listen if you want. http://www.golfwrx.com/521108/confirmed-ernie-els-did-beat-the-crap-out-of-steve-marino-aboard-a-private-jet/

Anyone hear about this? Podcast Fast forward to about 51:20 for the story of Ernie Els flying Steve Marino on his private jet. paraphrased snippet: Ernie says, “Are you having a good time Steve? Yes? So now we fight!” And Ernie proceeded to head butt him, hard. Then he started throwing Steve around the cabin until the copilot ran out screaming at him. ... the copilot may or may not have said “not again Ernie!” The Big Easy. Until he starts pounding beers.

I’m a 10 index but I’ve never broken 80. That seems to be kind of unusual.

You will definitely make it. And you will make 100% of your 30 footers as well in just a couple minutes. That’s the main reason this is easy.

I made some practice swings in the back room the other day without a glove. The club went flying out of my hands and straight through the glass door. Worse yet, I damaged my new 4 iron crossover. Lesson learned.

I prefer tough courses by a large margin. The caveat is that it’s a beatutiful well manicured course that’s tough because of fast greens, lots of hazards and tight fairways. I don’t want a course that’s tough because it’s in such disrepair that you can’t find a good lie, smooth putt, or your ball because there are too many leaves.

Driver. I’m around a 10 index but if Corey Pavin hit all my drives for me I think I’d be a 2. I often hit them crooked. Then, when it gets too much in my head how crooked I’m hitting them I start to get tight and not swing aggressively enough and just start hitting them really bad. The other day I hit 6 tops — only on holes with a forced water carry, water left, and danger right. There were three holes like that.

Didn’t he blow them away on the first two rounds because of his putting?

It could be back to back majors for Reed. Or back to back U.S. opens for Koepka. Or back to back tournaments for DJ. Pretty cool.

A fade or draw is a good shot. A slice or hook is a bad shot.

Doubt it. But he can do something the rest of mankind can’t.

He was 10 shots worse than the second worst in the field. That number means nothing. A typical, not great, score of 75 is what you need to compare against. I think the whole “An average player would shoot 25 strokes higher than their handicap on a tough tour event” thing is overblown.

There are many shorter holes as well. Even on those two holes I think I would have a (maybe long) putt for par relatively often.

Hmmm. I was expecting an emoji with that first sentence. It’s a joke right?

I’m just watching Hole #2 for the first time. Is it impossible or what?

Yes, I was referring to the slope with this line: It's 140? So the 10 index is a 12 and the +6 is a +7. So they are 19 strokes apart. You can add another stroke for the .96 multiplier and that makes it 20. So if the pros are shooting 75 out there, @lastings has a chance to shoot 95. The specifics of the course might stretch the difference a few more strokes, but we've got some wiggle room to break 100. He'll need to bring his A game. Often a 10 shows up and plays like a 20, which won't do at all. Also, I'm assuming a good 10 handicap (plays the ball down, counts them all, plays tournaments). I'm a 10 index and when I watch "10s" at the Pebble Beach pro am I'm thinking I would hand them their lunch every day and twice on Sunday.

The best players are only about +6 handicaps so simplistically you should only shoot 16 strokes worse. Although if your index is 10 and theirs is +6 your course handicaps at Shinnecock will be a bit further apart. That assumes an apples to apple comparison where you get all the practice rounds and caddies that they get. And they are probably yet a couple more strokes better than you on this course thanks to their experience with difficult conditions. Unless there is something I’m missing that adds up to you having a decent chance to shoot in the 90s. I agree you might shoot your 117 on a bad day though, since it’s punishing out there.

Oh yeah. And Angel Park and Vegas National both rent Golf Boards.

Rhodes Ranch can cost close to $100 for out of towners during prime time. But for locals at twilight you can often play for $15 plus 2 free beers! You can get a pretty decent rates before twilight as well. Memberships at the semi private Spanish Trail are $900 per month with no down payment or minimums. You get 27 holes, huge pool, lit 24 hour tennis courts, locker, extensive clubhouse, bar, restaurant. Your significant other is included in all of that. Having your own pool is worth it if you like going in pools. Not if you don’t. They make more sense than in upstate New York of course.

Missed it. Pics?

I've been throwing around a kettle bell for about a half hour every couple days for a pretty nice workout. Simple stuff like cleans, overhead presses, and squats. I look up some new moves every once in awhile. Nice core, cardio, and full body workout.

Open versus Closed Clubface @ Setup?
allenc replied to saevel25's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'd say it depends on the player. I don't believe I hit it as well when I try to set up with an open or closed club face as when it is square. That's made me wonder the same thing as you, but I've never tried to video record each setup to see if there is a difference in my swing. -
I think with 5 1/4 hours, unlimited mulligans, and a golf cart I shoot -4 easily. I’m a decent putter and that’s enough time to make everything inside 20 feet, for one thing. No real idea how many mulligans I’d use though.
