  1. Finally watched Kimi, birdie, makes me want to catch up with all the recent Soderbergh I missed. It's a contemporary take on Rear Window, even the score, Cliff Martinez (Red Hot Chili Peppers) throwing in synthesizers in his ode to Bernard Herrmann. The movie is not entirely an indictment on virtual assistants, it goes both ways. Movies like this don't screen at theaters anymore, it's straight to streaming. One niggle, you'd think tech pros would figure a way around the assistant activation word, but hey, drama. Rewatched Contact (25th anniversary), birdie, in a theater, 35mm, with all the grainy splotches. There are some unforgettable moments, the opening, the bathroom cabinet, the discovery, but the romance bit could have been cut. And the audience laughed whenever old clips of the President came on. Would like to watch George Miller's version. Rewatched Star Trek The Wrath of Khan in a theater (40th anniversary), eagle. Probably the most liked Trek movie, and deservedly so. Captains quote Shakespeare at each other and tell us it is cold in space. Ricardo Montalban was shredding way back then when not many were. This is a Star Trek submarine movie and it is spectacular. Aft torpedoes, FIRE!
  2. Tiger Woods missed US Open to prepare for 150th Open Championship at St Andrews - BBC Sport Tiger Woods says he missed last month's US Open to "give it at least one more run at a high level" on the Old Course at next week's 150th Open... So now we know he likes to read Dean Koontz.
  3. I've forgotten much of the show, I know it's a simulation and robots, but it's not a simulation of the Matrix type, the fake world is manifested physically right? Even a robot with a perfect swing and super speed can't do this. Apparently this scene has kind of gone semi viral?
  4. I'm not watching the show, I did not like the last season at all, but heard about the scene and hey, it's already on YouTube. He makes what looks like two albatrosses in a row with a not great looking swing (that's fine, can't expect all actors to be athletic). Dunno what course this is. Western US somewhere?
  5. How legitimate is the rumor that a women's version will be created? Not sure if the social media posts I saw were a troll or a joke. The holiday came and forgot about it never really played close attention.
  6. Was just watching Wimbledon and they could spilt screen more often. Sometimes they’ll wait for someone so long to play his shot only to go to another hole. Show more shots simultaneously and you can show more… shots.
  7. I think my problem is my tendency is that the face opens from A4 on. And my top of swing position can vary too widely from across the line to laid off. Trying to figure out which works best, getting it in the middle.
  8. This is a lindy hop video, but the band is really good.
  9. I totally missed this! Will get the practice and starter pack.
  10. I also mark up my rubber tees with magic markers, I've been accused of stealing rubber tees, then I show them the unique coloring, it's my rubber tee. Mine!
  11. So I posted about this awhile back. It's definitely not my idea, I saw someone else do it and just copied it, lol. Obviously this won't work with those tall rubber ties, you'll have to snip it down.
  12. Yes, I meant don't, thanks, fixed. Rip out the lip of a 3 ball box, fold it up and stick it in rubber tee. Then stick a regular tee in it and it'll hold. You could use a receipt, a business card, any kind of paper. I saw Rory McIlroy do this awhile back. Be prepared to have extra paper as it'll fly out, just put it in again.
  13. Looked into getting a Perfect Putter, I'm just going to be causally using it, to find straight putts and for putting practice and it's kind of steep at 300 USD. Looked into a stimpmeter, dunno why it's 150 for something that looks so basic. Then found this product from Eyeline Golf, at a reasonable 125. Anyone use this? It looks like it's a pretty true roll, there's no bounce as it comes off the ramp. Sweet Roll Rail System SEE MORE VIDEOS This visual tool demonstrates the perfect combination of speed and line. 14. I often see people walking the range looking for rubber tees here, they tend to get stolen. I don't get why people don't bring their own, a bag of tees is just the cost of a couple of moderately priced coffees. While I'm talking about tees, I don't see people employing the trick of getting variable tee heights with rubber tees much. You just need to stick like a piece of paper, say a little piece torn from the box that holds a three pack of balls, into the tee and then a normal tee will hold and you can move it up and down.
  15. Also having played or walked the course a number of times makes it more fun to watch. Oh yeah, I know this shot, this putt, etc... Let's see what this person does with that. Playing it on a videogame doesn't cut it to be honest. Gotta see it live. When the camera crew gets a good angle of an escape shot, that's cool. See the ball curve. Better with 4K, not possible in the old cathode ray tv days. Also, stating the obvious. Two words. Tiger Woods. Especially when he's playing well.
  16. I think I'm finally starting to understand this, athletically and instinctually. Although for me it's more the lead wrist flexing than the trail wrist pizza pie pan holding extending.
  17. Last week I got grouped with a firefighter whose coworkers died doing their job at WTC and he was livid.
  18. Fun movie. So over the top. Remember, wherever you go, there you are. Lol.
  19. This is a less important aspect but I'll still toss it out anyway because it's somewhat relevant, with the commissioner tweeting about it. With added pressure to keep players in the PGA Tour, it doesn't seem like there will be any fewer ads on the broadcasts, maybe more. It's a tough ask, I know, but this is what I'm guessing will happen.
  20. Where is the PGA Tour going to get the money from? I guess the reserve fund? Or whatever it's called. I guess higher revenue from the upgraded events?
  21. I didn’t see anything else on car indicating golfer though. So maybe not.
  22. I got a decent angle of Fitzpatrick back in 2019 practice round.
  23. Fitzpatrick is 108th in driving distance at 298 according to PGATour.com I thought it would have been higher.
