  1. I completely agree with you on several things. I hit my first ace last Sunday as well. 147 yd playing more like 135 and hit a perfect PW that took one hop and trickled in. If it would have been a terrible shot and gone in I'd still count it and be excited but since it was absolutely a thing of beauty I'm just all that more excited. Good shots can be repeated lucky shots cannot. Don't forget to contact the manufacturer of the ball and clubs you use. I've already recieved a sleeve of burner balls and a hole in one divot tool from taylormade. Expecting my hole in one pewter bag tag from titlest in a couple of weeks.
  2. I really don't understand the debate between walking or riding. I personally enjoy walking when I can (allot of courses don't allow it) but even there are times when I just don't feel like walking. I'm young as in 33 so I have no physical limitations keeping me from walking either. There are some days however when I just feel like relaxing and driving around in my 4 wheel hoverround. I've been paired with as well as stuck behind walkers and riders who have all been slow and I've had the exact opposite as well. I personally feel that the bigger problem is that courses these days just do not unforced the rules. Marshals look the other way when people are playing slow and even when people break the rules and goof off on the course. Get rid of the drunk morons and disrespectful jacka**'s walking or riding and I'd be happy. A golfer with respect for the game and the course is ok in my book no matter how he gets around the course.
  3. If you don't mind me asking where did you play? I didn't brave the rain this week but considering it tomorrow. I'm still waiting to break 90 myself. Have been close but so far haven't gotten it done. My short game has seriously been letting me down
  4. I've gotten a raincheck before here in socal. I played a course during the first big storm we had this year and unfortunately around the 9th hole it just got too wet to continue playing. They ended up giving my buddy and I rainchecks for half a round. Being that this was a 100.00 round that $50 was appreciated. I guess it never hurts to ask
  5. Clicgear 2.0 black Taylormade r9 5wd R9 fairway headcovers for my 3wd Nickent 3dx pro irons (gift for a buddy) Replacement brushes for frogger brush
  6. Most websites your clubs can be ordered to your personal specs. You just need to call them rather than order from the site. Most clubs however can be adjusted by a club maker or at most pro shops just depending on how much of an adjustment is needed. You can also send the clubs to the manufacturer and they can adjust them for you at a price but it doesn't seem to be much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    rc cars

It's been a while but I used to race 1/8th scale buggies for Mugen. Been almost 10 years though but had a blast when I did it. Even travelled a bit with the mugen team to races in south Carolina and vegas. I couldn't imagine paying for rc cars and golf haha. Both are extremely expensive hobbies Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I personally only wear visors. I hate baseball caps bit want something to shield my eyes from the sun. I dislike wearing sunglasses while golfing so the visor is my only option. I happen to think I like damn good with a visor on. My gf agrees haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the advice guys. Well the situation is that after today I'll be out of work for the next couple of months. Unfortunately the economy has finally caught up to me and I'm being laid off. Luckily I'm in an ok situation financially so my plan is to enjoy a few months worth of golf. If all goes as planned I'm hoping to play at least 4-5 times a week. I'm new the game actually so I really want to spend some time working on things. I may have to get out and try the shorecliffs course. I've heard from a few people who have played it recently and it sounded as though the new management company has really done a good job and improved the course. My one problem with a membership like this was playing the same course daily. However being able to just pay one flat fee and play as often as I liked would save me a ton of money. I have way too many expensive courses in my area so playing daily could get extremely expensive. I live right next to aliso creek gc so monarch beach and pelican are my other local courses. I'm not doing that good financially haha
  10. Was curious if anyone was familiar with any southern california (orange county) golf courses that had good unlimited golf packages available? I've so far found 3 courses that offer them however 2 of them are a little more than I wanted to spend (at least right now) and the other one I'll have to check out the course and see how it is. Here is what I've found so far Shorecliffs Golf Club - San Clamente, CA They offer a monthly unlimited golf package that runs $239.00 a month. I may seriously consider this one but want to go checkout the course first. Also want to wait tell we get past next weeks rain and a little closer to summer. Oak Creek Golf Club - Irvine, CA They offer a year unlimited golf membership for $5000.00 While I would love to take advantage of this and have heard its a rather nice course spending 5k right now might not be the best idea. Talega, San Clamente, CA They offer a year package for $6000.00 Again looks like an amazing course and I'll be playing here in 2 weeks but a little more than I wanted to spend. Oh yeah and Monarch Beach They also offer a package for $5000.00/year Just like the previous 2 but I've also heard their course really isn't worth the price either.
  11. I'm currently playing the raylor and have been extremely happy with its performance. However I noticed Nike announced they will be releasing the new V series of hybrid along with their driver and fairway woods. Really anxious to try this one out and see how it performs.
  12. Thanks for the great review. I'm extremely new to the game so I've been looking for a good ball to play thats on the cheap side since I'm rather good at losing them. I lucked out on got a great deal on some Taylormade TP Blacks and a couple dozen Titlest Tour Distance SF that I found at costco for 30.00 for 2 dozen. To be honest though I really didn't notice a difference which I guess is expected for someone with my skill level. Both seemed to find the water and the bushes equally well haha. Where does everyone buy there balls actually? I've been searching ebay as well as some other websites to find a good bulk deal. Im thinking I should start buying them by the 100 as that should cover me for a few rounds.
  13. As I kid I grew up sneaking into that place to go fishing. They have some incredible sized largemouth bass and have been kicked out on many occasion.
  14. I guess I'll put my list down for the week while not all purchased from a store persay. Visor - Adidas Tee's TM Burner 09 Iron 3-SW TM Raylor 19* TM R9 460 (Building a new bag) Now I need to order the TEE CB3
  15. Hello from Laguna Beach.
  16. I'd second the golfsmith off of Lake Forest and the 5. Its right next door to best buy. I went over there the other night to check it out. The place is huge.
  17. Was curious if anyone has had experience with this school? I'm considering taking a two day vacation course they offer up in Napa, CA. i'm a new golfer and since I was already looking to book a trip up to napa I thought it would be fun to add this to my trip. Wasn't sure what their reputation was as far as golf schools were concerned.
  18. Was curious if anyone has had a chance to play these? Hit them a little bit in a shop but haven't had a chance to try them out on the course. I'm not good enough for the MP line of irons but really liked the look and feel of these.
  19. Curious if anyone has had a chance to try out the Adidas Power Band cart bags? I'm in the market for a bag and really liked the looks of these however haven't been able to find any reviews. Right now I'm torn between this bag, the Bag Boy Revolver Pro, and several others. There are just so many bags out there.
  20. Is it just me or is starting out in golf one of the most confusing things you've ever done? haha Just like you I'm extremely new to golf and I'm currently looking to build my first set. Every store I go they recommend a different brand/club. Every online forum you get 500 different opinions. Confusing I say!! Congrats on the pings. I've actually made an appointment for this coming saturday with a club fitter so I'll be ordering my irons/wedges saturday. Cant wait tell I can start my "Building my first set" thread.
  21. I found this company in Irvine, CA called championship fitting. I was curious if anyone has used their services or has anyone used another service which uses the Taylor Made MATT system? I just made a reservation for November. They currently have a $100.00 off on the service and include a free custom made Taylor Made Rossa putter so I figured what the heck.
  22. While I'm not absolutely sure with regards to golf pro's I do know that with most sponsorships the free items you receive are yours to keep. I used to be a sponsored bass fisherman and received several new rods/reels and other fishing tackle for free. Whatever I no longer used I was able to sell or give it away however I wanted. Also had several friends who had boat sponsorships from the likes of Ranger and Champion boats etc. They would receive a new boat each year. After receiving their new boat they were allowed to sell their old boat and keep the proceeds. My guess is they give the old golf equipment away to friends, family or they donate the equipment to charities.
  23. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm as new to the sport of golf as they come. I started dating a girl a few months back who loves to golf so last saturday when she asked if I wanted to go play I figured what the heck. I've played maybe 3 rounds of golf in my life (I'm 33) and hit balls at the range a couple of times. Well after hitting a couple large buckets of balls on saturday I was ready again to go on Sunday. Now I'm hooked. I was one of those people who hated the sport and talked badly about it my entire life. Maybe it had to do with my third round of golf I played back in my early twenties. This was a trip to Tustin Ranch golf course in Tustin, CA where I managed to hit a house and then almost killed two guys sitting a cart (evil slice off the tee that went between their heads and under the roof of their cart). So after this trip I was a bit turned off by the sport. Somehow my outing on sunday I was actually able to consistently drive and hit the ball straight with every club I put my hands on. So I guess not being terrible made me feel a little better and got motivated to give the sport a serious try. Both of us are currently looking into signing up for some lessons now and I'm in the market for a set of clubs. I'm keeping my eyes open for some Demo Days locally so that I can get an opportunity to hit several different clubs. Again just wanted to introduce myself and I'm sure you'll see me asking a bunch of stupid questions in the very near future. I do promise to give the search feature a try prior to posting something thats been asked a million times before. Thanks Again Steve
  24. I've been an avid fisherman for 20+ years. I have a feeling though that now that I've got the golf bug my fishing is going to take a back seat to that. As far as fishing goes I've been into the following: Started out competitive bass fishing when I was in my late teens. Fished in several pro/am tournaments around california/arizona/nevada. Unfortunately due to school I had to put the bass fishing on hold. Took allot going out to lakes 2 weekends prior to a tournament to prefish then the actual tournament. Difficult on a 18-19 yo's budget. After I finished college I moved onto deep sea fishing. Was lucky to know several people in the fishing industry so I opportunities to do some long range trips 5-16 day fishing trips out of san diego, ca. Its amazing how at 21-22 I could afford not only the gear, trips itself, and the time off. Now that I'm 33 there is no way I could get away on a 10 day trip. Glad I had the opportunity when I did though. A few years back I got pretty heavy into the kayak fishing thing. This allowed me the opportunity to get some exercise and get out more often. Always nice to be able to get out for a few hours after work and just paddle around and relax. Its amazing how therapeutic a day on the ocean can be when work stresses you out.
  25. Its almost impossible to compare the two players. Tiger has more technology available to him which gives him an edge. I would have to say that Tiger has done far more for the game of golf than Jack. Again though its still hard to compare due to the age we're in. If Jack was playing today with the media coverage and marketing done for players these days he could have also made that type of impact. Though I do feel more young players can relate to Tiger.
