  1. tour striker pro for me....really helps groove good contact and keeps you honest during practice sessions.
  2. I had the same problem. The video by Phil Mickelson changed my game..."Secrets of the Short Game" shows his technique for chipping/pitching and I incorporated them into my game. I cannot tell you how much difference it has made. Good luck to you.
  3. I am a firm believer that they are both great systems. I personally subscribe to the slicefixer technique but there is quite a bit of overlap to the two systems. All systems can be a path to great ball striking...ya just got to stick with it and get some help from a pro. S and T would probably be easier to do that with...good luck
  4. number of reasons you can pull but it is hard to see without a video....you are over the top to be sure but what is causing it is the question. Not shifting your weight to start the downsing....throwing your shoulder at the ball.....swinging with too much arm movement and not enough body....too flat of a swing etc. Definitely have a pro look at your swing and find out what it is that you are doing. Videoing yourself can really help you see it. In the interim try putting a glove in your left arm pit and keeping it there until well into your follow through. keep your spine angle and that may help give you the right feel. good luck
  5. don't doubt that you can do it.....but doing it in flip flops is incredible. I can knock it out there (but can't average it) but I have to really use a bunch of turf interaction with my cleats. impressive
  6. I rotate my left forearm a bit more going back and allow the arms to raise a little bit to steepen the plane. It is a feel thing for me and the difference is not that much from looking at my swing on video...couple of inches maybe. good luck
  7. interested to see the feedback you get. I have the same problem when I swing too flat....as a one plane type swinger I can really over cook a draw big time and get that 15 yards of draw with a pull. What happens to me is that when I get too flat and inside I tend to come over the top and pull draw it....at least that is the feel that I have. I concentrate on just a touch of lift as I turn and it goes away.
  8. you my friend are a putting machine
  9. Iacas or one of the pros on here can probably give you better advice. Personally, I think your backswing is where it is starting. Your right elbow seems to be really high and behind you and the club looks well above plane. This is causing you to lunge at the ball and lose connection with your left arm through impact and cast at transition. I know that doesnt seem like it would cause the movement of the left foot but the transition required to get that club back to square is making you overswing....just my opinion by the way good luck and hopefully one of the pros will be able to give you a better idea.
  10. I have played with high handicappers who can indeed smack it 300 yards......most of the time with out of balance lucky army swings with lots of roll. I have yet to play with one that demonstrates any measurable amount of consistency. 300 yards and in the next fairway is kind of bad. I can smack it 300 when I really step on it but I would have to accept that I would cut my fairways hit by about a third or more. I am happy with 275 or so but more often than not in the fairway. Most....and I would be willing to say 80% plus of golfers that I have been around think they hit it 45-50 yards further than they really do. Can't tell you how many playing partners that I have had that have said "wow, you must have smacked that one 325 yards". I just say thank and drive my cart to my 275 yard drive.
  11. assuming that you have a fundamentally sound swing......the biggest problem I see with guys I play with is that they think about way too much when they are playing. On the practice range you initially concentrate on what you are trying to work on and then get comfortable doing it. Sometimes this is 3 things at a time. If you do that when you are out on the course it will cause all kinds of problems...for most people. I had to make a conscious effort to think of only one thing when swinging on the course....for me that was tempo. I take practice swings until I feel the correct action and then step up and replicate the overall feeling not concentrating on any one piece. This is why ingraining is so important in a golf swing.....once ingrained it frees your mind up and lets you concentrate on generic tempo or connection. Good luck and try not thinking about...."left arm straight....head still....cock the wrists....don't flip....turn through impact....etc etc etc....golf swing is less than 2 seconds and there is not time for a bunch of thoughts.
  12. shot 38 for nine today....struck the ball very well bet left a couple out there from bad course management decisions
  13. had the same problem and it kept me right around your same handicap for a while. What finally changed my chipping especially is using the turn of my hips to swing the club. I stay connected and use the same setup as you but start back letting my hips turn away with a hinge and hold as my lead hip rotates back....I had to get the feel of a more rounded chip keeping my head still. I think I got the information from a Utley article I read......made a huge difference for me as I used to hit all chips fat it seemed. Good luck to you.
  14. as a veteran of both types of swings......I feel that the one plane swing (mine for last year) is easier to repeat because it is not as reliant on timing FOR ME. I personally use the "slicefixer" one plane swing and can't say enough good things about it. I didnt notice a huge difference in distance but what I did notice is much more consistency and control in the flight of the ball. As a two plane swinger I had a pretty big bump and sling going on and when my timing was good I could really play well. When my timing was off I could hit bad shots all over the place. With a one plane swing/rotational......on my bad days I can still consistently strike the ball pretty well. Good luck to you and there are awesome golfers that use both techniques.
  15. shot a 77 at Anderson Creek....pretty solid round but my usual mental errors cost me. 70.5 and 130 slope
  16. I have the 800 pros and love the forged feel. Overall I am very happy with them and feel that they are a good compromise between workability and forgiveness. I am currently using them as my backup set behind my MP-52s with the main reason being that the 800 pros stronger lofts/hotter face build gaps into my game especially on the wedge side of the house. This is great if you are looking for a little more distance, but the additional length IMO comes with gap problems with the wedges. I hit my MP-52 PW 125....GW.....115.....SW...100. With the 800 pros I hit the PW about 135-140....so I am still working through getting some different wedges. You can't go wrong with the set, good feel and turf interaction. good luck.
  17. I certainly have a definite distance loss when the temp drops....however....at 45 degrees I get about a 15 yard drop at the most. As you mentioned the wind, that may be the culprit for the 30-40 yard drop. Seems a bit much to me.
  18. Funny....I have found the exact same thing....thought I was in the minority with this but when I hit my 3 wood off the deck I have to go after it a bit. If I try a slow smooth swing I invariably don't get good results. I am pretty comfortable with hitting it now and it really makes the long par 5s a little easier to get a chance.
  19. driver: 275 3 wood: 240 5 wood: 220 3 iron: 210 4 iron: 200 5 iron: 190 6 iron: 180 7 iron: 170 8 iron: 160 9 iron: 150 pw: 135 52: 115 56: 95 putter: 3 feet accurately...after that it is anybody's guess
  20. trying to mimic positions in the swing has always been difficult for me because it happens just too fast. I found that the Pure Ball Stryker (thread here on site) helped me immensely. by concentrating on maintaining that lag pressure against my forefinger, I was able to minimize the number of thoughts in my head and ball striking improved dramatically. Another key for me is that I swing hard but smooth. It is amazing how well you can strike the ball when you hit hard but relaxed feeling that pressure point. Good luck to you and check out the thread on the PBS. Good luck to you.
  21. I am a single digit and had a horrific experience at the course last year and shot a 95....so I would say yes.....an 11 occasionally can squeeze out a 100.....but it shouldnt be very often.
  22. honestly, my G-15 3 and 5 woods are some of my favorite clubs to hit. I think it varies from swing to swing but for me this is how it plays out. With short irons I have my most significant divots. As the club gets longer my stance gets more upright as a one plane type guy. For me the divots get less significant as the club gets longer but I don't change the feel of the swing. I swing exactly the same...I am just set up different and with the longest clubs am a little flatter/standing more upright. I still swing like I am taking a divot but because I am a bit more upright and my swing is a little flatter...again 1 planer...I have more of a sweeping motion with a 3 wood because of setup and not a conscious change in my swing. My ball position is about 3 inches in from my left heel and I just swing smooth. My weight is pretty much 50 50 off the deck....and 40 60 off a tee. works for me....I only make my swing adjustments by dialing in at setup and don't try to swing any differently it just happens.
  23. would reverse the title to "Stack and Tilt is PGAish".....lets not be revisionists here, I could say the same thing for any swing.....components have been around long before any of us. Why this constant need for affirmation?
  24. lag....IMO....should simply be allowed to happen....for me, I concentrate on maintaing the pp3 throughout the swing but I do cock my left wrist at the same time...happens naturally. I have no conscious uncocking of the left wrist at all at impact, I just concentrate on pp3 and let my core unwind my shoulders with soft wrists...the rest just happens. I think most folks have problems when they try and manufacture positions in the swing instead of just letting it happen.
  25. more than anything else I think the fact that he can completely retool a swing and ingrain it enough to be on the top of the leaderboard this fast is simply amazing. Regardless of whether it is stack and tilt or conventional or Hoganesque......to compete at that level and play the way he did just shows how special a talent he really is
