  1. Did a lot of things right today on the way to my best 9 of my short career. Ultimately a couple of triple bogeys and doubles negated 7 pars (5 on the back nine). I hope to gain a little more consistency before the season is over and I think I could be shooting low 80s instead of high 80s and low 90s. If only I could chip the ball as well as I drive it haha, my game is so backwards.
  2. makes senses, good luck with your round(s)
  3. Ill be solo tomorrow as well. I am just going to play a cheap par 3 course to work on my short game. Not to hijack here, but would it be counter productive to practice short game on a course with poor greens (slow, carpet-like)?
  4. +1 well said
  5. agreed, it was basically a demo session in which he went with a stock club that worked that day. Now don't get me wrong, as posted many many times, it certaintly pays to demo clubs, but that is not a fitting.
  6. I would look at used clubs on ebay personally. I have bought and sold several sets that I demoed until settling on the like new mp-58s I have now. I am very happy with them and they cost $500 less than if I paid for new ones.
  7. Great thread. Every guy that asks if he can make this or that tour in a couple of years while currently playing off a 10 handicap should HAVE to read this. Maybe the link to this thread can be given a spot next to the underline button for easy reference haha.
  8. So basically no one knows lol
  9. I don't typically see fitted clubs being cheaper than shelf clubs, but my guess would be that it skips a middle man. Anyway, if you have your specs you will have no problem. When you receive the clubs throughly inspect them, and if something seems off take them to a local pro and have them checked out. If they are not right the company they were purchased from should in most cases take them back as long as they were not used or damaged. Good luck.
  10. Age: 22 Height: 5'9" Where are you from: PA How Long have you been Playing: ~2 years Best Score: 9 hole: 42, 18 hole: 87 Favorite club in the bag: Driver Golf Books / DVD's that have helped you: This site would be the closest Where do you play: The Bridges Golf Club Best courses you've played so far: Heritage Hills Resort Things you enjoy most about golf: Learning everytime I get online, watch tv, and go to the course Goals for 2K10: Play a round with no hole higher than a bogey.
  11. As another option Dick's Has/had them for $9. I grabbed 2 dozen.
  12. If your distances are anything like mine I would take my 4i - 190yds, 8i - 150yds, and putter. I think you will cost yourself more strokes w/o a putter than w/o a wedge unless it is a course with elevated greens or a lot of protecting bunkers. Good luck.
  13. So during an up and down twilight round at a course i never played before, I hit two of my best shots ever. Shot 1 - Par 4 (327yds) - Awesome trajectory on my drive - starting out right and actually drawing back to the middle where I was aiming with above average distance that left me with a 20 yard shot onto the green for birdie. Shot 2 - Par 3 (130yds) - Pulled a PW back on a string about 6 feet leaving a very makeable birdie...that I missed : ( haha. My uncle says "I thought that was something they just added in on TV" Now I just need to figure out how to do it more often. Won't sound like much to most of you, but I felt like sharing because I was pumped.
  14. Thanks for all the thoughts guys. I am checking out all their sties now.
  15. Looking to get a couple of new wedges, and I thought it would be cool to look for wedges from a smaller maker that I could support. Anyone have a smaller maker they support, or could recommend?
  16. This is true, but at the same time it gives you an idea of what the difference would be between sets with different numbers of clubs. Also, if you click on the re-sale value instead of trade-in you will find that this falls in line with what clubs bring on ebay (often the cheapest place to buy clubs, not always, but often).
  17. It is a good deal, but I don't think it is great since it is a short set. That really hurts the value, take a look at the pga value guide and you will see what i mean.
  18. Very good point, if I am having a good start to the round (or am just in a good mood) hazards are not in my mind once I choose my club.
  19. Yep, a friend of my uncle uses his putterhead almost everytime. It does not make any sense because 1/2 of the time he has to bend down to repair the hole.
  20. That made me literally lol. We often make comments about our own shots. Ball is hit horribly fat: "Be right!"
  21. To some of you that question short game as being underrated: I was speaking from my own game. I notice that I will rush chips and putts, especially if I am not having the best hole.
  22. You guys have covered all of mine, but I wanted to say i gave this thread 5 stars as it has given me a few good laughs.
  23. I have to say the short game. It seems to be the biggest difference between my game and that of a scratch player I play with on occasion. Would you guys agree, or do you think something else is more underrated?
  24. Very nice. Hit them yet?
  25. Throw up a picture if you can, but it sounds like normal bag chatter for forged irons. I have the 58s and they would be bad if I didn't put covers on them for travel.
