Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
jpalermo replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
had all of my wedges regripped and had them check the lofts. $29.00 out the door with a cliff bar and a diet pepsi. lol time before that; Taylormade R11 3wood and hybrid time before that; Taylormade SF 2.0. time before that; Footjoy Streets -
have them soft step them once ( you will have to buy one matching shaft ) and they will play about 1/3 less stiff, you can actually do it one more time beyond that and they will play 2/3 less stiff and closer to a 5.0 and a higher ball flight. better than buying a whole new set of shafts and it beats playing with shafts that will "mentally destroy you"

Completely totalled a 2011 Burner 3 wood.(pic)
jpalermo replied to Made 2 Taylor's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
are the faces welded? I'm sure not that far into the clubface but I thought all the faces of woods were welded to the body of the club. call tmade. maybe they will replace it. for free? -

would have made a cool YouTube video. -
I thought that the girl she was playing with had a nice swing. Yang I think her name was? looked pretty solid from start to finish. nice turn and very well balanced all the way through never really paid much attention but kerr's swing looked weird to me.

Annoying Things Golfers Say and Do on the Course
jpalermo replied to Lag Rag's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have become completely annoyed with the whole "honors" thing. if you've got em, go hit the f'n ball instead of jacking around for what seems like 10 minutes. -
Annoying Things Golfers Say and Do on the Course
jpalermo replied to Lag Rag's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I hate the guys who walk or have the rented pull carts that leave them on the front left side of a green that the pin is tucked on the back right corner of a 30 yard deep green and then have to walk all the way back to get their bag/cart, stand there and write their snowman on their card then mosey their way to the next tee box while everyone else is wAiting for them. I personally find it hard to get into a rythmn when the pace is slow. I usually try to get to the course early and bring my iPod to listen to while I play. can usually knock out 18 holes in under 3 hours if I get there first. my all time pet peeve is the jack ass that says "one" when you accidentally knock your ball off the tee. even worse when your paired up with some morron that you don't even know. -
iron covers are usually a dead give away. was a victim of the counterfeit club game a couple years ago. did a bunch of research on them and actually started frequenting the Chinese sites that sell these things. mizuno, titleist, callaway and ping were the most popularly counterfeited ones. if he uses the term OEM factory they are fake. it appears to me that he copied and pasted the listing from someone else's listing or is somewhat knowledgeable to a small degree with the whole upright thing. most of the Chinese counterfeiters just list them clubs. dead give away here in the us is ems shipping. screams fake. not sure what you guys use in Australia. he may have bought them as fakes and is turning around and selling them off. who knows. best to buy clubs at a store or do your homework. if you don't want them, don't pay. sounds horrible, but in the end it's your dough and not that big of a deal. you get a non paying bidder strike and the eBay police won't come knocking on your door to take your to jail, I promise.

after posting about my worn out wedges yesterday i went out on a whim today I bought a three pack of wedges from a guy on eBay that refinishes wedges. got a set of mizuno mp t's that he supposedly re cnc's the grooves, mills the faces, spine aligns them, ports them and refinishes them in a black chrome finish. he had good feedbacks on eBay and the pictures sure made them look pretty, he had a small mix of wedge offerings, vokeys, Cleveland, scratch, mizuno, and a lot of blueprinted and spine aligned iron sets. I might have them by Wednesday and will report.... anyone on here ever bought any wedges or irons from tiger_nick golf?

I play the mp-t raw haze, the are rusty and have marginal grooves left at best. after working on making better contact all summer they all come back at least a foot on full shots. they are my favorite as far as feel and weight are concerned.

How to choose the right Hybrid?
jpalermo replied to jswang519's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would get fit for a driver and then go from there. you are going to use your driver much more than any hybrid or fairway wood. hit you longest 2 irons on a launch monitor or simulator and look at the distances. then try to add clubs in between your driver and long irons to fill gaps based on the courses you normally play. otherwise you are going to be wasting money on clubs that don't really suit your game. I can think of about 10 clubs that I bought new and took a bath on because I "self fit" myself. -
Had a few... Don't remember the first one... I will never forget a skulled hybrid to a down hill green that I never saw go in for a double eagle.... Spent 10 minutes looking all over the back of the green, the next tee box, etc.... my buddy walks up to pull the flag and my ball pops out.... Awesome way to start a round, -3 after one hole

What do we think of these clubs...?
jpalermo replied to Aleks7243's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
so many options besides those for a g ball. I would buy a set that maybe you need to grow into instead of getting something you are going to replace again as you get better still. if I were to drop a grand on forged I would go mizuno or titleist. -
Shaft recommendation to help reduce ballooned drives
jpalermo replied to erock9174's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Big fan of the Comp NT 65g shaft. maybe that in a regular flex? probably a crazy combination of things going on there. look into that 39g Miyazaki gold shaft, I tried it today and it was wicked light... I was ballooning balls 260. it was definitely not right for me but it's worth a look to some of the lower swing speed guys out there -
hello gents, just replaced my ping i15 20* and 23* with a R11 21* had them adjust it to +1 setting based on simulator stats. Also picked up a 15.5* R11 Adjusted to 16* to replace my trusty BB titanium 16*. this is my first venture into the adjustable club genre and I have never been a taylormade fan but after hitting and buying my SF 2.0 I figured they were worth a try with the sales and trade up thing going on at golf galaxy. anyone have any personal pros/cons with the R11 line? based on what was happening in the simulator I bought the 2 but always open for input from people who already game them.

How often do you use your 4 iron?
jpalermo replied to anotherday's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Update.... ditched the 3rd hybrid... back to the Callaway 3 wood 16* (rope this thing 240 off the tee with a slight draw, never got that from the 17* hybrid), ditched the 5 iron and added another wedge.... working for now.. -
get on ebay and get yourself the BB Titanium 454, still a few around and IMO the best Callaway driver to date. Still have a couple of them laying around one for course play and one set up for long drive contests.... not that i do them but it fun to take to the range when there are a lot of people there...lol

jpalermo replied to dmband8985's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
"oxymoron"? what is your TST handle? "T......WI?..... Cleveland? Do you play any? Everyclub manufacturer has overrated and underrated products. look at my sig, not loyal to anyone or any brand.... I use what works for me. Always leary of someone touting a brand name when their entire sig is all one brand. -
Are these deals too good to be true???
jpalermo replied to rocky74's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Fake clubs..... Just bought my ap2's from my friend who is the head pro at a country club, upgraded shafts and grips, 10% over his cost and they were cheap but not that cheap. 5-pw $708 -

Never use(d) mine.... Hasn't been in the bag since I got my first Hybrid... Ben Hogan CFT years ago. Carry 3 hybrids now, and don't miss the 3 or 4 irons at all -
Which to use SuperStroke putter grip: Slim or Fatso?
jpalermo replied to BigMike06's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Same problem with the lag putting. Still use the fatso though. I have figured out the I just need to stick it closer and problem solved. Lol. Aside from the lag putting, I have never putt so well..... Love the grip, if you get it also get the sleeve for it getting it in and out of the bag is a royal pain in the ass
