Tiger*************************************************************************************************************************** ***************************************************** BTW - as far as Kuchars season went, i´m convinced he will have a very solid Ryder Cup

You see this kind of finish in a couple of female players (dont see it much in make players though) - and i wouldnt advise to try it, you might break something (seriously), and just cuz you make the club point 30° left of your target wont help your ballstriking one cent. And trying to create finish positions in general isnt a good idea, they come naturally from what happend before.

I agree - that course seems to be a great fit for a US Open and actually plays like a Links course, not like wannabe Whistling Straits, and i´m really looking forward to it.

Dont think so, otherwise the Golfchannel would have had a 30min special on that - afterall it has to do with driving "you know"

I just watched it from time to time, but he didnt struggle too much this week against his competition, did he? Anyways, thats a nice birthday present for him!

She won a tournament, "you know!" I think we forgot to make a thread about the discrimination thingy a week ago...

Well, i´m sure Johnson didnt step into the bunker and said to himself, well - screw the rules, i´m going to ground my club, neither did Inkster when she applied the device to their club. So in their mind, they were acting within the rules of the game. But they violated them and got penalized - thats how it works. But those two ladies KNEW they were acting outside the rules and didnt care - they even tried to cover it up - so thats a whole different matter and therefor the consequences, at least imo, should be different, for ANYBODY who tries to pull such a stunt.

Read a story about 2 LPGA players during this weeks Canadian Open, playing the wrong ball on the last hole, realizing it while on the green and trying to cover it up, signing the wrong scorecard, but after one caddy threatening to expose them, they seem to confess and get DQ´ed from the tournament. http://www.geoffshackelford.com/home....html#comments A DQ from a tournament for trying to collude and cheating on purpose? That seems to be a bit on the other side of extremes what we have seen so far, and imo whoever tries to cheat on purpose in a professional environment should receive a lot harsher penalty than just a simple DQ. What do you guys think?

Are those charity contributions tax deductable for companies and/or privat persons? Because that would make it a lot cheaper then...

How did you get the spot? Company sponsoring or did you purchased a package? If you or your company paid for it, would you mind sharing the info? Thx.

Poor schmocks who went straight to the bookie and bet the farm....

Just check out the Tournament websites and look under "Sponsoring" i think. There they have listed all the options, that also include ProAM spots. But Senorchipotle is correct with his estimation of the costs. For an example look here - http://www.wyndhamchampionship.com/proams/wednesday.htm I was wondering, when you read about some of the ProAms you frequently come across the better known players who often seem to play with "buddies" - is this a fair draw or can players invite guys and prevent this way to play with "unknowns"?

50-60 degree wedges all go the same distance
kafka01 replied to Sandtrapper's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
You might have a look into flipping. I remember this from my past very well. Could hit it as hard as i wanted, didnt went anywhere - contact was garbage despite being somewhere near the sweetspot. It always made such a thinnish sound. As i got better and got rid of the flipping i basically went from a full swing to a bit less then a half swing with my wedges on the same distance. -
I actually thought about this if it would come useful being able to hit a shank on purpose - e.g. if you are blocked by a tree or if you need to shape it, but you are in the thick stuff where you dont get any spin on it anyways. Those are the practical things i could think about when shanking on purpose would be useful. But if you want to do this to "increase" the bets a bit on the first tee, you definetly should work on topping your driver a couple of feet in front you so that everybody on the range can see your duffed balls right in front of you. And then you need to finish it off with some nice T-bone steak like divots that are pointing 30° left - and you have yourself a payday . Did anybody here ever on purpose did "sandbag" somebody like that? That could make for some intresting stories.

You watched Rory´s swing lately? A dipping head is nothing bad... -

How can this be even called close to realistic - just take putting for example. If you putt like this for real you would end up anywhere but close to the hole with all the movement going on, and here it goes right at it - LOL. You could probably swing that thing in a minicircle and get a 300y drive - yeah right. So what about proper hinging actions, forearm & shoulder rotations, proper sequencing of the release? Its a nice gimmick - but other than that, this thing teaches you absoultly nothing about a golf motion. -
Do you remember the 2008 Dubai Desert Classic, where Kaymer finished Birdie Birdie Eagle for second place - 1 shot behind Tiger. I guess that shows some mental strength, considering back then Tiger still had it all together.
-
I follow the EPD Tour a bit - most of the guys will never make it anywhere, then you have the guys who slowly grind it out and will make it to the higher tours eventually. And then you had Kaymer - he just crushed his opposition within a short time span and moved on. Back then you got an early idea that something was in the making. Learning to win is great, but i dont know how much that helps you if your opponents are just so much worse than you. Are you serious? Who cares what your swing looks like - it has to be efficient, thats all that counts, correct Mr. Trevino?

The REAL Fiasco at the PGA - Fans wearing Golf Shoes!
kafka01 replied to pittpanther's topic in Tour Talk
I think they are actually not allowed to wear golf shoes. Even in a local event we had, Caddies had to wear non-golf shoes. The only real reason i can think of is for less spikemarks on the greens. -
Because he is hyped and marketed by the PGA Tour? Stats comparison: Kaymer vs. McIlroy Scoring: 69.4 vs 70.9 Driving Acc.: 57 vs 62 Driving Dist.: 291 vs 300 GIR: 70 vs 66 Putts per GIR: 1.7 vs 1.798 McIlroy seems to be the worse putter (he is currently ranking around 130th in Putts per GIR). Other than that they seem quite similar. But putting nowadays is just so important.... Keep in mind, Kaymers stats are from the European Tour and McIlroys from the PGA Tour and all stats are from 2010.

Does anybody else get the feeling, that the media tries to undermine the rules of golf, by all this reporting about how fair or unfair it seems when somebody gets penalized/DQ´ed lately? Yesterday i think, during the LPGA Coverage the GolfChannel ran a public poll where people could vote if they thought it was fair or unfair that Inkster got DQed. Well the answer to such questions always seem obvious, everybody seems to feel its unfair, but imo this kind of reporting/manipulating of the public is a disrespect to the rules of the game. When a player steps on the first tee, he accepts the rules. And if he doesnt follow them, he gets penalized - there is no fair or unfair in that, cuz its the same for everybody. A couple of years ago when i was relatively new, i went to the driving range to hit a couple balls during a tournament - back then i didnt know about it, somehow it ended up with the tournament director and i got DQed. Back then i thought it was unfair - nowadays i think if you do it knowingly, its just plain cheating.
-
You can do whatever you want before your round - but you cant change anything after you started playing. Huh - why would you do it in the first place then, if it doesnt affect your game?
-
Thats pretty much it. When we as amateur take a 6i - we actually hit a 6i - when they do it, they have like a 4i in there hands (if they want to), since the bottom of their swing is so much further in front than ours. And when you combine this with "golf fitness" and sweetspot, everybody can do it, really. Problem is, those 3 terms dont sound like much, but to get there is A LOT of work.
-
And you can practice properly, even without having a coach looking over your shoulder 24/7. I´m wondering if Arnold, Jack or Ben Hogan had a swing coach/fitness coach/mental coach/short game coach on speeddial 24/7. They were pretty good at what they were doing back then, and they practiced a lot, so whats different nowadays, that you need a whole entourage of coaches to play a game of golf and beat the other guys... Maybe its the coaches who make you think you need them 24/7....... Ever thought about that?
-
Yeah, it seems like a really bad idea, not spending money you dont have and instead creating some revenue...... Isnt California taxing golf, because they dont have a nickle to their name anymore?
