  1. What he said, causes over the top-ness Try feeling your lower body swing the club with your arms and sholders just along for the ride
  2. I would not see a pro if you are under a 8 or so handicap. You already have YOUR swing. While the pro may be able to see things you don't, he may also try to change your GROOVED swing. Take Jim Furyk for example, He stuck with his swing, and how many teachers do you think would have loved to alter his swing? If you ask me, he does alright. Bottom line, don't change your ingrained swing if you are below a certain handicap where your swing has become to natural to make major changes to. Here is what I do when my game falters. When I practice, I try and move as LITTLE as possible during the entire swing. Most the time, when I am off, I have added an unnecessary change to my swing. When I move as little as possible during my swing, it usually results in me staying connected, compact, and most importantly, simple. The feel for me is; Weight to inside of right leg on backswing Head still Keeping the hands and arms secondary to the rotating core ROTATE the backswing and RELEASE not lift the backswing and throw These thoughts usually keep my swing as simple as possible, which results of better consistency, with the cost of tiny losses distance.
  3. Eh...I've played in over 100 heat. Misery, misery, misery...Heat index was 112.
  4. No such thing as break! You are just struggling off the tee. Hit 60% driver and I bet it will go further than a 90% 4-iron.
  5. The hands hurt the swing they do.
  6. Yea I saw it. It was amazing because if you look at his angles, they are the same despite the fact that he is running up to the ball! And he had to be joking by saying we should do it... Crazy Irish.
  7. My guess would be bad timing. Which would cause me to agree that you are probably over-swinging. Most people think that relieving tension only applies to the hands. No no no... Tension ANYWHERE kills. The only tension you should feel in the swing is in your lats at the top of your swing. Swing FREE and you will swing PURE.
  8. If we are talking long term average, than your handicap can give you a good idea. All statistics revert back to the mean in the long term...
  9. An 8 ball. Fine champagne. And strippers. Oh wait... Go with some tee times
  10. Compress leads to pressure. Pressure leads to hate. Hate leads to...suffering.
  11. Just curious. I work for a small capital management group here in Austin.
  12. Ah! So that extra 50 bucks for the FT's goes to warranty! Of course! it all makes sense now...
  13. Howdy there
  14. Your swing should always be in an arc, never any straight lines. You are over the top. I would concentrate on simply making solid contact for a few weeks. Don't worry about distance. You are a big, young guy and will probably never have to worry about distance, even into your elder years. Now is the BEST time to work on solid contact as a priority, without the bad habits caused by a grip-it-and-rip-it mindset. If I could just go back 15 years... When they say loop back, they mean that, although you take the club back somewhat steeply, the club will re-route itself on the downswing to a more inside plane, caused solely by delaying the upper body...which you don't do (look up one plane vs. two plane swing). You are too quick, which is why I advised you to focus on nothing but solid hits. Try and take 15 to 20 yards off every club in order to FEEL the club moving with your body weight, instead of your body weight following your club. I would say you are a stiff flex. Get ya some clunkers for irons, work on your tempo and over the top. After a month or six, once you stop coming over the top, immediately (I mean like same day) have enough cash to go get fitted and do it. Put the same swing on the lie board. You look tall like me which means you ABSOLUTELY need fitted irons to take your game to the next level, assuming that is where you want to go.
  15. I'm considering a gardening glove.
  16. Try 105 with incredible humidity...Might as well be in a shower. But Arizona is terribly hot too...but with awesome courses. In fact, the courses are so awesome, I wouldn't even mind the heat.
  17. This reminds me of Vijay during The Masters. I would link the youtube but I fear for our youth learning "highly technical golf language". Besides, anything a golfer mutters to himself very softly should not be broadcast. But he does seem like every shot is horrible unless it is in the hole. Maybe this is why he is so good?
  18. Can we go on that date now?
  19. I played golf for almost a year straight where I would par the first 4 holes or so and then I would hit an off shot...then it would be downhill from there (usually uphill and in the rough.) Keep focus, keep an amnesia-like memory, and you'll be good
  20. Glad it worked for you! Were you raising your right heel in the backswing? Becuase I would like to see that swing... Personaly, I like to keep both feet planted until my turn lifts it naturally during the follow through. Beware of band-aids. They work well for short term, but I guarentee it will come back to bite you.
  21. Played a round today and was very well prepared thanks to you guys. I had a cooler overflowing with ice and wash cloths, 2 L of water (should have just used the Camelback), an extra shirt, 2 more gloves, and a handheld fan...lol. Anyways, I ended up shooting a 74 with 4 birds. Putting was sooo much easier without having sweat dripping off my face like a small creek...and the extra gloves allowed me to relax my grip a little more which gave me alot more confidence off the tee. Knowing my driver won't be taking a first class flight into the pond on 17 really helped!
  22. I play MP-60's and when I first got them I was a stickler for keeping them super clean. But the metal is so soft that, after time, little pebbles from your divot will end up scratching your soles. Just keep the groves clean and you should be good. Mine are worn in the sweet spot quite a bit...but I think that just makes my irons look like a very accomplished player hits them!
  23. If its mostly with your wedges, my guess would be you are coming over the top with sholders.
  24. Ha I saw that yesterday! Gotta be the worst feeling ever for a pro...
  25. ^^^ Hit the nail on the head. Its such a light weight club compared to its size and length you think you need to rip the %$*@ out of the ball... But you don't need to!
