  1. That's great! Your single handicapper will probably take care of all your short game...unless you are a super short game stud. So I would concentrate on solid drives trying to put it out there a ways for either you or other teamates can help. As for etiquette, just normal golf. Play to your strengths and stay within your limits. Don't bring down the whole group with some negative thoughts!
  2. I would have to say keeping your head still. Jack said that was the key to his swing. As long as you can swing around a stable base "your head and thus your spine" you should be able to make some good progress from there...
  3. ^^^ What he said 1) plus it seems you come slightly over the top at the start of the downswing - Use lower body to drop club back down. You should feel like you are simply letting gravity drop the club back down. 2) and you seem to "come out" of your shot a bit through impact - Stay down by concentrating on a steady head through imact and keep turning!
  4. I'm no pro, but blocking can happen due to either what you said with getting the club stuck behind you. Also, sliding your hips towards the target can produce a blocked shot. Maybe focus on turning your hips and body through the shot rather than just a big weight shift. Start with smaller half swings focusing on starting the downswing with a turn of the hips while keeping the club in front of your body.
  5. I play MP 60s too. You may just not be used to your lie angle yet. The heel of your clubs are probably striking the ground slightly before the sole, closing the clubface a bit through impact.
  6. Eliminating wasted movements in the swing, i.e. keeping the head still, little lateral movement.
  7. Ben Franklin said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I play golf to hit that one solid shot. I don't always do it, but im hungry to keep swinging until I do. I guess I love golf... and Im insane...
  8. I see just a little bit of casting. Anyone else catch that?
  9. Yes, your left hand will lead the club to the ball and the right hand will release the club just before impact and then take over in the follow through. Your forearms should be rotationg over each other in back swing and follow through. But don't think about it too much when you swing. It's all pretty much automatic as long as you let your left hand lead the swing.
  10. good advice. You definately want to feel the left hand on the downswing. That was the biggest thing that helped my swing. I used to hit boring middle irons that flew very low and rolled off the greens. Now that I lead with my left hand, I can fire down into the ball with my right and can hit my 5-iron as high as my old 7. But remember, you still have to use the right hand at impact to square what is left of your swing. If you do all this your shots should really start "climbing" up into the air.
  11. A box of Pro-V1's. I still cry when I hit one in the water...
  12. Im sure they will feel about the same...it's essentially the same ball. I couldn't really find anything innovative about the new V1's on the titleist website. Just another reason to charge an extra 12 bucks if you ask me.
  13. 9-iron. Bread and butter club from 150 yards.
  14. I try to invision the target line through my ball at address and then swing along that line. If you have a somewhat decent swing you will automaticly have an in to out swing. For me, thinking about anything other than that line is too much during a swing. As soon as you learn to hit the ball straight or with a slight draw like that, you can change stance-clubface to draw or fade the ball as needed. Just my .02 cents
  15. I honestly don't see much difference other than they have the center line already drawn on it (people use it to line up putts so they roll better) and cost an extra $10.
  16. Ha! You're NikeRep! I knew that swing from somewhere...
  17. That's quite a shot longer...you are a club up on most people. That's a nice driver swing too...wait a minute...you wouldn't happen to have a bias towards Nike gear would you?? :)
  18. Don't try to kill it!! Swing easy and smooth
  19. 210? I think you might be de-lofting your club face a bit too much. I hit mine nice and high around 190. Most pros will pull out the 5-iron around 180-200 depending on the pro. Teeing it up on a par 3 is different though. Maybe then around 210 or 220 with a draw.
  20. hit down, ball first, accelerate through contact.
  21. 1) Hips should shift forward slightly first and then rotate. The forward movement helps put the shaft in "the slot" which in turn.... 2) Automatically lags the club. To get a feel for it try just letting the clubhead fall to the ball instead of trying to force the head to the ball. As for squaring the clubface, that just has to do with releasing the clubface throughout the downswing and continuing through the follow through. Harvey says, "shake hands with the target."
  22. hes playing in the father son tournament right now
  23. I think the right hand has alot more to do with the swing. I use it to square the club right before impact which creates more distance and backspin, and then through the swing i roll it over towards the target which gives me more accuracy and a slight draw. In short, when i use my right hand i tend to get the clubface to the ball and have crisper, better struck balls.
