I recently bought a used Scotty Cameron California Series Del Mar (35", LH) from a local dealer who has a very good reputation and I've known for years. The price was reasonable and I plan on playing with the putter - I'm no collector, but the shaft band has me confused. I can't find any explanation so far as to what it's meant to be or why it is on there. Check out the pic, but as you can see it says it is "Custom Built" but has no measurements, etc marked in. I was hoping someone could tell me a little about where this putter, or at least the band, would have come from? I'm pretty confident it's not a fake - it passes all the "tests" and was bought from a reliable source. Any help would be appreciated!

What is the brand of your Driver shaft ?
Redstar2112 replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have several as well, but I have a Matrix X-Con 6 installed in both my Diablo Edge Tour and 909D2 right now. Fabulous results with both! -
Anyone try emulating the R11/Superfast 2.0 look?
Redstar2112 replied to zanga254's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The fella in this thread here did it and it looks OK. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/43290/who-needs-an-r11-when-you-have-a-can-of-paint It's still on the first page of this forum. Give it a read and you might get some tips or opinions. It's not for me, but it's sure cheaper than buying an R11 or Superfast 2.0!- 1 reply

Callaway Performance Center - fitting
Redstar2112 replied to rstyle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've done it and it was worth every penny! I also play Callaways and I didn't get a hint of a sales pitch at all - he actually recommended the same irons I am using but suggested a stiffer shaft. Same with my driver. I don't know which one you're planning on visiting, but the one I went to (Concord, Ontario, Canada) gave me full printouts with my fitting info and recommendations and photos, links to videos of my swing compared to several pros to view side-by-side (pretty cool!), a Callaway Golf hat and a sleeve of Tour i(s) balls. I'd do it again just to try out the new gear even if I didn't need a fitting! -
Filling in the thin lines on the back of the FT insert was surprisingly easy. I thought the texture of the "tunite" would catch all sorts of wiped off paint but it was fine. This was my first time paint-filling clubs too and I really enjoyed it. I can't believe the difference in look on the VR wedges going from red/black to green/white!

Vintage Spalding Putter - What do I have here?
Redstar2112 replied to Counterbalance's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
"Spalding, this calls for the old Billy Baroo. Ooohhh Billy, Billy, Billy." It all makes sense! Did he also find a full-length knit cover up there? -
Looks like the link is down already - at least for me it is.

You are right. A lot of tasteless stuff gets said on the course that should probably stay there. I should have left that one in the bag.

When a poor golfer makes an OK shot: "Well, I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while". When you completely miss the ball: "I caught a FISH - F#@& It's Still Here". Chipping in or making a long put for 8+: "That's like winning a gold medal at the Special Olympics".

Awesome shafts. I have 5 so far including 3 Studio line and they're fantastic. So many options for weight and flex even in the lower-priced models too. If you're on Facebook, look them up there - they run a really active page and are great at answering any questions you have. I actually won a hat from them a couple weeks ago and when I called to give them my address I wound up talking to the Sales Director for close to 20 minutes! They're presence on tour is climbing rapidly too. According to the recent Darrell Survey ,the most popular shaft model on the PGA Tour (in drivers and woods) is the MATRIX OZIK HD6. They're a small company pumping out some real cutting edge technology here and I think people will become more aware of Matrix shafts real soon!

uPro Issue/problem
Redstar2112 replied to juanrjackson's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I just had the same problem with my uProGO and it's only a couple months old. I haven't contacted anyone just yet but it sounds like we're in the same boat. -
I have a Squareway 5 wood that I picked up used and it's fantastic in my opinion. I took out the original Fujikura M- Fit-on and put in a Matrix Studio 74 shaft and this thing launches high and straight every time from the tee and off the grass. I've never hit a fairway wood well before this one and it's a complete 180* now! Something about the square shape and flatness of the whole head just seems to promote the whole "sweeping" motion that your swing should have with a fairway wood.

I think they're great. When I switched from X-18s to these, I gained both distance and a bit of control. Some of that is probably due to improving my game in general, but the feel of the irons is amazing and even for a GI iron, I find you can adjust your shot trajectory more than others. The other nice thing is that when you hit a nice solid shot, the feel is like cutting through butter - all the good stuff you want to feel is right there without any vibrations. After just a few holes you know what a good shot feels like and you can rely on it feeling the same every time.

I love my FT-IQ. It is for sure the best driver I've played even with the weird shape. I was able to get a really consistent and reliable ball flight after just a few rounds and the distance was well beyond my previous FT-5. I have a FT-IZ now, but I've played so little with it that I'm not sure how much, if any improvement it is over the IQ. I would definitely recommend the I-Mix option if you can swing it. The availability of shafts is really growing on places like eBay now that the system is a few years old and even places like Rock Bottom Golf are getting new ones from time to time. For the price they are right now, it's a great purchase in my opinion.

I think you're on to something there. I was in the Golfsmith in Sterling Heights, MI on Saturday and every employee was wearing MacGregor t-shirts over their regular clothes and there was a huge display inside the front door. I've never seen them push a brand like that before.

I use the Nike SV Tour wedges and think they're great. I switched from Vokeys to these and haven't looked back. RBG as mentioned before has them for $50.00 apiece too. They also have a set of 2 Nickent 4DX wedges (50* & 55*) for $39.99 that I just bought for my father in-law. Good luck!

Callaway FT-5 vs FT-9 Driver
Redstar2112 replied to etlreams's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I only had an FT-9 for a very short time (bought it used for the I-mix shaft), but I really preferred the FT-5 much better. Other than the sound like the other folks have said, the whole club just felt better to me and looked better at address. When I hit the FT-5 it gave some nice crisp feedback that let you know you creamed it - the FT-9 felt like butter to me no matter where you hit it. I actually find the feel of my FT-iz at impact to be very similar to the FT-5. -
Cheers to that! I can be heard yelling a lot of stuff after a shot, but none of it is directed towards the ball! The whole "get in the hole" thing is funny sometimes if you're playing with friends, especially if it's a terrible shot, but as a spectator I would be humiliated to yell that just based on how I feel about, let alone most folks on here!

What custom shaft is on your driver?

82 in my first round of the year. Hit the first 6 fairways too!

does the Callaway FT-IZ replace the FT-IQ?
Redstar2112 replied to localhawaii's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The technology used in both the FT-IQ and FT-iz (and the rest of the Fusion drivers) is aall based on multiple materials being used to displace the weight. After that, they go in all directions. I own both of the clubs in the original post and while they perform similarly for me, the feel is quite different.
