  1. I used a couple Mizuno demos the other day and didn't feel this at all. I also have owned a set of Mizuno MP-32s for about 4 years and never had a problem with slickness, although I'll admit I have no idea what the grips were on them, aside from having Mizuno written on them. Have you used them a lot? Do you sweat a lot? Do you wear a glove?
  2. I would feel too much liek I had unfinished business if I walked away from a bucket... I do step away briefly to collect my thoughts, and other times simply switch to something else like punching wedges to shake whatever my brain is auto-correcting.. Nothing worse than over-thinking on the range though.. It's such a helpless feeling!
  3. looking at their website, I think they are only offering the e6 in colour, which is one of their easiest to compress balls.. It's a shame, because the e7 would probably be exactly what was needed!
  4. This is obviously the best outcome more than anything, but during my Sunday game, I had a playing partner skim a 5 iron across the water three times, hit a rock, bounce 30 feet in the air, and land five feet from the cup... He went from misery to celebration in 4 seconds hahaha
  5. Really? I have heard that the 5.5s are slightly MORE stiff than the s300 shafts... I have also heard that any of the project x (especially the flighted) shafts will increase your trajectory as well... So unless you're looking for a higher ball flight, why not just soft step some s300 shafts?
  6. I've slapped my putter, but never broken a shaft of my club because of it.. And you threw it out? Hope it wasn't an expensive wedge!!!
  7. Do you wear a glove? I usually get them after too many swings without a glove on.. Beyond that, they've never been an issue for me.
  8. I can't play top flites because I think they are comparable to hitting rocks, but I do agree that playing a ProV is total overkill. Any 15-25 dollar per dozen ball is more than sufficient nowadays..
  9. It's funny you make this comment, yet you drive around with the name of the car and car company on the back of said car. I would compare removing a dealership logo on a car to removing the logo of the golf course/shop logo that you bought the bag from.
  10. Big Blue Jackets fan here, but cheering on the Sharks to win the cup.. I really think whoever wins the series between Chicago and San Jose will win it all this year. The East just seems like it will fall short. I still can't believe Boston brought the Flyers back into the series the way they did. I know the loss of Sturm and Krejci was bad for them, but not four straight losses bad.
  11. I've been playing the Taylormade RAC tp wedges for over 5 years now, and I swear by them. Switched from Vokey's and probably won't go back, but I am in full agreement with those who say it's all about personal preference... Swing all the brands that have good ratings on any site, and find out which ones suit your swing style the best.
  12. Stand bags are way more manageable, and most manufacturers have designed hole setups that really spread out the clubs... Cart bags, unless you're ALWAYS on a cart, are awful to manage if you ever want to walk.
  13. You actually have a problem with people representing their equipment with their golf bag? That's an awkward beef to have.
  14. I much, much prefer carrying than pushing or riding. To me, that's golf.
  15. I've always felt that the bag should have some representation of what clubs you use, however, the more I think about it, the more I realize that frankly, the type of bag you are carrying may play a big factor in your game, and that one should buy the bag that best suits them (weight, size, features, etc).. Obviously using a Sun Mountain or Ogio bag is a different story, but my question to all of you, is do you think your bag should match some of your clubs, if your bag is associated directly with a club manufacturer? I guess it's more of a question of preference..
  16. Best shaft, ever.. I use it on my driver and both woods.
  17. I have a friend who swears by the burner, but I've tried to hit it and something about the weight is devastating to my swing. I play a Titleist 905T that is probably 5+ years old, and have yet to find another driver that fits my swing. My recommendation would be to get yourself to a golf galaxy and swing every single used driver they have available that fits your swing (aka don't swing a driver with a regular shaft if you're used to swinging stiff shafts) I tried to hit a Callaway FTi a couple weeks ago, and while the connection was great, the sound that the club makes made me laugh almost uncontrollably after every hit. I think it's pretty safe to say that at this point, the technology is good enough in any club maker to have a decent selection. It's all about what feels right in your hands.
  18. I think the best person to teach you golf psychology is yourself... I'll get on the course and start trying to do all these crazy, difficult shots that probably aren't actually in my bag, and slowly the course will start to play me rather than the other way around.. I do think psychology plays a big role in golf, but I think you can limit it. One of the major things I do on every swing is envisioning the proper technique and ideal swing each time I stand over a ball. I take a practice swing to loosen, but even when I am taking my practice swing I am thinking about exactly how perfect the right swing will propel the ball towards the hole. If you get busy thinking about your proper swing, you may stop thinking about the big traps by the hole, or the water sitting off to the left. If there is a professional golfer that swings somewhat like you, think about their rhythm and pendulum as you take your practice swing and try to emulate their speed and smoothness. All the great golf movies have something in them regarding mind games. Tin Cup had him throwing all his change into his left pocket with a tee in his ear to get rid of the shanks. Baggar Vance talked about the field, envisioning a shortened hole with no one around, searching for the one true swing. It's pretty fancy the way they describe it, but it gets the point across. The people who try to change their mechanics on every shot are the people who lose strokes. Concentrate on making the swing you know you can make, and work on changing your swing on the practice range.
  19. Myrtle is unreal for golf.. My two favourite courses are Rivers Edge (Arnold Palmer) http://www.river18.com/ and Carolina National (Fred Couples) http://www.carolinanationalgolf.com/ Totally different courses, but equally as entertaining to play. Rivers Edge runs along a marsh, and one green is basically on or hazard. Ridiculous!
  20. Shortly after college, I purchased a set of blades (Mizuno MP-32) and was sitting at a 1.2 index. For the time, they were unreal. Crisp on contact, lower ball flight, and looooong. That being said, if you aren't playing a lot of golf, it's an awfully hard thing to keep a set of blades in the bag. I recently switched away from them back to a set of game improvement irons, and I would argue that if swung correctly, the quality is still very much there. Yeah, I lost a bit of distance, and am back to hitting some of my higher degrees as far up as I do forward, but as long as there isn't a gale force wind, I get the same quality I would, with a bigger sweet spot and an easier swing. I probably won't go back, even if I do start playing more than twice a week again. They were a fun experience though!
  21. I got out on Sunday at a local course, which is an Arnold Palmer design. It has been a busy year for me, and was unfortunately only my third round of the year, thus, my putting was worthy of my carpet at home, but not the green. Ended with an 82, with four inexcusable misses from inside 10 feet, and not a single birdie on the round. Working in my j33 irons though (new to me anyways) and really enjoyed the forgiveness after playing the Mizuno MP-32 blades for 4 years!
  22. I swear by the Bridgestone e6 (27 bucks), however, I often use the Srixon ad333 (20 bucks). Everyone has a different swing, and I think matching yourself with the right ball is as simple as analyzing your tendencies and the common traits found on the back of each box of balls. I use the e6 to minimize spin, and it works great. Most balls have images like this on the back of the box... I can bet you'll find a box with your tendency as an example of what a ball will avoid haha
