I would have to agree that the Ping Zings are pretty ugly. It's the pointy toe. I don't know, I think they look pretty cool. The name is still stupid though.

Yeah, same with me. DJ and Bubba Watson are two of my favourite golfers, but so is McDowell. If I have to pick an overall team to cheer for, it's going to be Europe... I think. Bah, I don't know. I guess I'll just have to see if I get all sentimental when DJ and Bubba are playing.

I'm going to be rooting for Europe. I don't know who is going to win though.

I'm pretty sure the reporter's question was just a joke. Also, I don't think Rory meant he wants to play Tiger because he would be the easiest to beat. I think Rory wants to play Tiger because it would be a challenge. I can't imagine Rory taking a cheap-shot at Tiger.

Worst Putting Day Ever and I snapped my 56* in half.....

Wow, look at Judge High and Mighty. -
I really like them. I would wear any of those uniforms, and pull them off well.

How do you know which putter type is right for you?
Koth replied to Koth's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have a Yes! Nicky putter that I used a lot at the beginning of the season. I would say that the SeeMore I picked up has a firmer feel than the Yes! putter. Are the C-Grooves on the Yes! putters considered an insert? It's kind of an insert, but not in the traditional sense. -

Well, one thing I discovered last night was that I don't like inserts. They all felt really soft to me. So I can count out any putter that has an insert. I like the firmer feel of a milled surface. -

I've never heard of that method before, but I'm going to have to try that out. Anyway, I just got back from Golf Town and I ended up getting a SeeMore FGP Original. I've looked at SeeMore putters before, but have never tested them out. I was certain I wouldn't like them because of the look. But at address this putter actually looks pretty decent, and it felt great. Plus, it was on sale for $100, so I grabbed it. I think I might have to go back to Golf Town and try bigoak's method though. That sounds interesting. Edit: I also liked the Ping Redwood Piper S mallet putter. It had a nice feel to it as well. But I think I'm more of a arc putter. I just like that method better. I may pick up a Piper for kicks though. It was pretty nice. -

Yeah, I started out with an Odyssey 2-Ball too, but then the insert broke, so I picked up a blade putter, and then I saw a nice deal on the Bettinardi so I bought that one. I've been all over the place with my putter types. -

Yeah, I guess my Bettinardi is right down the middle between blade and mallet, which makes it difficult to figure out which style I prefer. I'm going to head to Golf Town tonight though and try out every type of putter until they decide kick me out. But then after I find one, how do I know what length I need? Is a putter something you should get fitted at the store like a set of irons? -
I don't mean which specific putter is right for you, but which putter type is right for you? I know finding a putter is all about trying them out and getting a feel for whichever one you like the best. But how do you know what type of putters to look at? How do you know if you're a mallet putter or a blade putter? How do you know what size your putter should be? I've been practicing my putting a lot lately, but I'm not sure if I'm getting much better, and I have a hard time deciding which putter to use.

I've been using a cart since I started, and I never looked back.

Make sure you're using your shoulders to swing and not just your forearms or wrists. Using the bigger muscles in your shoulders instead of your arms or wrists will give you more consistent results.

Putters...Is it right for me or not?
Koth replied to chrisronline's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Plus, getting a new putter will make you want to get out and practice more with it, which is only a good thing. -
I'm pretty sure the sound they produce is almost all due to the mics that are set up on the ground. I was watching a tournament once, and one of the golfers did something on the ground, I don't exactly remember what it was, but it was something that doesn't produce a lot of sound, and yet it resonated clear as day on the television.

(3 slots) Driver - 3 hybrid - 3 wood (4 slots) 4 hybrid - 5 iron - 6 iron - 7 iron (4 slots) 8 iron - 9 iron - PW - 52° (2 slots) 54° - 58° (1 slot) putter

You could go with a #3 hybrid. Then it won't matter if it's the same as your iron set or not.

1. Flubbed chip shots that land 4 feet in front of you. 2. Topped chip shots that skim right across the green. 3. Lining up your putt for a break and then watching the ball roll straight... straight past the hole. WHY DIDN'T YOU BREAK?!?! 4. The 1 or 2 foot putt that you casually tap in, only to watch it lip out. Those make you feel like a fool. It's gotten to the point where I ALWAYS line up to give a proper putting stroke, no matter how close it is to the hole. 5. Those balls that you can't find even though you're SURE you saw it land right where you're standing.

I played Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita when I was down there this summer. $69 for 18 and a cart. The course was really nice, probably the nicest I've ever played on, but I haven't played on a lot of nice courses. If you don't keep it on the fairway, expect to lose your ball. The fescue is deadly there. I also played a course out towards Ventura, but I don't remember the name of it. It was very green, had a lot of large trees, a couple of ponds, and a couple of really neat elevation tees.

I agree with everything you said except for this line. Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but if the answer isn't "always", you shouldn't have to quit golf. Just practice your mental game more.

I don't know what impact tape is, but I've always just used plain masking tape.

Congratulations! I really want to join a league next year. Not so much for the competition but more so I have a game to play each week.

This is my first year golfing, so it's also going to be my first winter of golf withdrawl. There is an indoor driving range, but it's $30 for an hour, and it only extends 150 yards. There is also a driving range that has heated bunkers for hitting out of, and I'll probably end up going there, depending on how warm it stays in the bunkers when it's -30C outside. That range also has about five golf simulators and a fairly nice little complex with nice big leather couches. It's $24 for a round, so I'll probably end up playing that once a week or so. It's owned by an Asian family, and the mother and father make sushi to order. You wouldn't think sushi from a driving range would be good, but it's better than a few restaurants I've been to.

Just make sure that the next time there is a "How Far Can You Drive the Ball?" thread, you reply with, "I can hit it 380 yards. Seriously."
