  1. Ok so I have GolfGPS for the Iphone and its probably the best thing out there as far as a scorekeeper/statistics/GPS all in one. I have been playing really well lately. The issue that I am having is that my Driving accuracy has been decreasing while my scores have been becoming better at the same time. My question is; When keeping Statistics and trying to evaluate them I feel like i should be working on my long game even though my scores are getting better. I am only missing fairways by like 5 feet and there is very little difference in fairway and first cut of rough on most florida courses. Is the statistic simply hitting the actual fairway no matter how good the actual shot is? I guess the same question would be for greens vs. the fringe? feedback?
  2. 5 birdies and i shot a 73 my best round ever....
  3. Every one that i got a par or birdie on.....
  4. I cant agree more with this thread, Distance is highly over rated. I keep my driver and in the bag and hit 3 wood on 90 percent of all holes. an Extra 20 yards and a 40% higher chance of missing the fairway even more just isnt worth it to me.....in my typical round i tend to take about 33-36 putts and score in the mid 80's. I shot a 73 (my best ever) and only had 28 putts...thats at least 5 less strokes just in putting. I did play well and hit a few more greens but its not only putting is just around the greens. Practice i think is the only to fix it...
  5. As far as courses go I currently have a hookup with three of them in the area, I play Eagle Harbor the most then probably North and South Hampton are the other two that I play...
  6. As disgusting as that is....I too find that hilarious...I can't imagine what it would feel like to sink 14 foot poopie putt.....
  7. Yeah have been to the beaches once, my neighbor has a board unfortunately he had it custom made and at the time he weighed 140 pounds and I currently weigh 230...hasnt worked out for me so well....haha
  8. Just moved down to Jacksonville, FL from Northern Indiana about a month and am playing a ton of golf. I am about a ten handicap. Loving the weather down. I like hot weather so i guess it suits me....
  9. from northern Indiana originally but played baseball against Rose Hulman many many times in College....
  10. Don't take any offense to this but it sounds like your spending way too much on equipment. I don't really know why anyone would need two new pairs of golf shoes...or why anyone would need that many clubs. All clubs do the same thing, they hit the ball....sounds to me like if you want get back into the game and make it fun again, you should probably spend more of your money on lessons or just more time practicing. I have been playing for three years and went from about a 20 handicap to a current handicap to 9.8 all with same clubs....its called practice. Now I don't have the money that you probably do and if you don't mind spending a bunch of money on equipment thats your choice. Just play a lot and spend a decent amount of time practicing and that will pay off in the end. Golf is a sport of habit and comfort, get comfortable with the clubs you have and just remember its not the club that hits the ball its the swing....
  11. I work for a Golf course management company. I set tee times all day and play all the free golf I want. Have about 4 courses in the area to choose from. Used to be in finance, this is a much better lifestyle... That includes cart as well.....
  12. By far broke my personal best today. Played Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Florida. I will preface this post with a notice that I have never broken 80 in my life before. Today I shot a 73. A huge accomplishment for me and gives me some major confidence to become a good player in the very near future. I have been playing for three and half years and have always been an athlete but never a golfer. This is the greatest and worst game at the same time. Because my next time out I will probably shoot a 92....either way it was definately the round of my life....My handicap is calculated by Golfshot Software for the iphone...so i have no idea if its completely accurate but i have shot numerous 80-82's but just never gotten over the hump....threw that in there just so you guys did not think i was BS's yall.... 123456789OUT101112131415161718INTOTAL WHITE393355497165395152527366380323035249334815040218636838052332026432 HANDICAP717131151591318121416286410 PAR445343544364543434453672 SCORE436253454365642434453773 ROUND SCOREE-1E-1EE-1EEE+1+2+2+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 NET SCORE436253454365642434453773 TEE CLUB1W1W1W7i1W7i1W1W1W1W1W1W7i1W7i1W1W1W FAIRWAYS29%29%29% GIR56%56%56% PUTTS11212212214222121221151.6/29 SAND SHOTS PENALTIES111123
  13. Just hopping on kpaulhus reply.... He is right here in Florida we do have a ton of "Golf Communities" meaning that people drive their golf carts to everywhere in the community. You see 12 year olds driving golf carts around all the time. This is definitely sad but thats the risk you take.
  14. Keep in mind that spin is not all based on the ball you use. A lot of what spin has to do with is swing especially close around the greens, like you mentioned trouble stopping balls inside 30 yards. Spin around the greens is more indicative of soft hands and hitting down on the ball (without chunking it of course). Myself for example, I opt to play more of a lofted shot around the greens as oposed to the pitch and stop becuase i struggle with stopping the ball with my current swing, no matter if its a proV or a RockFlite (ok so there is a difference there but)....You might want to try working on your pitch shot swing as opposed to finding a cure-all ball...cause there isn't one...
  15. Tigers...that poor city needs something to be happy about....
  16. I am also a self taught golfer and played baseball my whole life all the way through golf. For a baseball player its probably twice as hard becuase I have a baseball swing engrained in my muscle memory. But im doing well for no lessons thus far.
