  1. i have the same issue but its my pinky finger on my right hand. Im not going to say i have a light grip cause i dont. I hold on pretty good. It usually doesnt start until i play a few days in a row and then takes about a day to go away. Aleve works well to help it loosen up. Im going with an arthritic type condition. I am 23...used to do alot of working with my hands and in the morning after one of those days my hands would be super sore and somewhat numb. But if your wondering...it does go away.
  2. I realize this and do plan on working on it. It is definately an ego thing, mixed with me wanting to keep my current swing. I can take what i feel like it 25% out of my swing and still be in the 250yd range and im sure it is because of better contact. However those days when the driver is really on(days like what started this thread) make me really want to continue my currently comfortable 95-100% driver swing. I can feel my mishits and i know they happen fairly often but my ball is still always in play and still much longer than my playing partners. Most of my misses are more toward the toe but my ball still finds the fairway the majority of the time. Its all a work in progress. As far as my handicap, when i signed up on this board i took the avg of my last 20 rounds and simply subtracted 72 to get the 9.2 i was previously using. A few days ago i got on a free handicap calculator and put in my last 20 rounds and it said my index was a 4.8. Didnt realize it was the best 10 out of your last 20....Newb error.
  3. I have hole out twice. Once from about 125 out with a pw and the other about 75 our with a 60* wedge. The first time there was a bunch of anticipation as the ball flew the front fringe and rolled about 20ft in to the cup. The second time the ball bounced once slightly, hit again and went directly in. It is a great feeling, can imagine an ace or double eagle.
  4. "The machine said that my avg drive with the b330 was 295yds with a 269yd carry. The optimal carry for the spinrate, club head speed and launch angle was 298yds, but thats with the ball speed mentioned above." This is what i said. Meaning if i have optimal contact and my ball speed is what it should be I would have a 298yd carry. Not saying it will happen soon but it is something to strive for and something i will achieve in the future.
  5. Back from the dead.... No gps yet but i did a bridgestone ball fitting and got some swing data. With a ProV1x...avg clubhead speed over 5 swing(completely cold) 115.9, ballspeed average 156.x, launch angle 10.6*, backspin rate 1150rpms. with what he said was a 10yd draw. With tour b330(black box) avg club head speed 119.3mph(a little looser), ball speed average 163.x, launch angle 10.6*, backspin rate 2200rpms, with a 5yd draw. All that info can be used how ever you guys see fit. Main thing is that my club head is moving well enough to CARRY the ball probably 300yds but my ball speed is down approx 15mph from optimal and that is where my improvement will come from. I am guessing i am either hitting the ball slightly off center of the driver or something similar. This was also my 3rd time ever hitting indoors and i cant say i care for it. The machine said that my avg drive with the b330 was 295yds with a 269yd carry. The optimal carry for the spinrate, club head speed and launch angle was 298yds, but thats with the ball speed mentioned above. Also, I am still planning on getting a gps and doing an average over 3-4 rounds.
  6. Happens to me just like this. I usually shoot in the high 70s and low 80s at my home course and other local courses. I have played 2 courses this year for the first time and shot 96 and 94 on them. Recently went back to one of them and shot an 86. Better but not great. Just different things to get used to. DOnt worry about it, keep playing those courses and youll eventually be shooting great scores there too.
  7. I would say the majority of clubhead speed comes from the hips and thighs. Not really sure on this but i feel like that where my power comes from. I will also tell you that it wont happen over night. You have to slowly work at turning. If you try to turn a lot and you are not used to it you will be out of control and your timing will be way off. Slowly you will feel more comfortable and you will be able to turn more and your club head speed will increase. Oh...and accuracy>distance!!! thats my issue.
  8. I definately like cleveland clubs. It started with the driver, used it when a friend owned it and had to have one. next came the wedges, was using hand me downs and all this box groove stuff got me wanting them and they are amazing. Next came the irons...they are the most forgiving blade i have ever hit. Much easier to hit than a miura blade or titleist 695 blade. Then i added the hybrid and 3w to make it a set. Both of these clubs are long even with an easy smooth swing. However i am considering reshafting the 3w to something a little stiffer. It has the fit on gold(r)flex and isnt really stiff enough for me. I would recommend all these clubs to anyone. Has anyone switched to a new launcher dst driver to see if it makes a big difference.
  9. I have always been a 10 finger guy. I am slowly working on switching to a different grip because I can feel my right hand swinging the club on occaision. I just have to tell my self to let my left hand pull the club through impact rather than my right hand pushing. I will eventually switch but 10 finger works for now.
  10. I would use my driver, 7i, and 56* wedge. I can shape my 7 very well and choke down on a short par3. Or i can go after it and hit it 175+/-. On a long par 3 i could use my driver. I am actually pretty effective on partial swing with my driver. And i could putt with my driver. The reason i didnt pick a putter and picked a wedge is because i have a knack for being off the green to a short pin with no green to work with and i really doubt i would be hitting many GIR so sticking a wedge close and tapping in with the driver seems like a good strategy. Would love to try this one day but i am too concerned with scoring well.
  11. I would say average over 5 rounds would be in the 275-285 range. Rarely do i hit my driver less that 275 but on occaison it happens. I also hit over 300 yards probably 2-3 times on an average round. On a round where my driver is on, probably average right at 300. Doing a bridgestone ball fitting today so ill have some data and ill edit it into this post.
  12. rather than a towell use a ball or something your more affraid to hit. I would say something valuable but probably would be a good idea at first. I have the opposite problem. I hit down on the ball alot, take a deep and long divot. Sure it works but there are times where i would prefer to sweep the ball as i feel it would be easier to shape shots with a sweep. Anyway......you have to get your hands ahead of the ball before contact or atleast thats what i do.
  13. All depends on how my driver is working but I use all my clubs. The clubs i rarely use would be 3w,2h,4i,5i and 52* wedge with the latter of the list being more common. I really like using my 7-8-9-pw into greens so i usually set up accordingly.
  14. Rory McIlroy, very well rounded swing and perfect balance.
  15. Love my Cleveland CG1 tours. Not much to compare them to though. I will say they are a ton more forgiving that the miura irons i hit a week ago.
  16. ^^THIS. I was considering playing the ladies tees my next time out to practice my half wedge shots and my 3w from the tee. Also...why would this bother you as you were behind him, this definately made him faster....now if he was behind you and bombing you with shots i would understand.
  17. I think it is all mental. When your trying to break a number you are so concertrated on doing it. For example...."I can go bogey, bogey for an 89"....youll go bogey bogey. After the special number is broken for the first time you are trying to score better. So lets say you are going for 85.....and you have already taken 83 strokes prior to 18, you shoot your par or whatever for another high 80 round. When you start shooting in the low 80s and high 70s it begins to get much harder. A bad hole early in the round could be the difference.
  18. I play 100X better when i am moving quickly. My best rounds have came solo this year. My best was a 75 in just over 3hrs. Not the quickest i have ever got a round but pretty swift.
  19. the hole i am talking about is hole 12 at gibson bay. The tees go like this...black, blue, white, and gold/red(not sure) Any way on 12 when the blacks are all the way back it is 225, everytime i have played the blacks it has been at 215. I usually play the blues as it is where i play when Im in a tournament here. Also...the guys i play with are probably 20-30 handicaps and playing from the tips would be torture for me and them both. As far as having a short wedge in to a green 60yds and in.....i would personally rather hit from sand and would definately rather a greenside chip shot. To each his own.
  20. I havent ever layed up on a par 3. The longest one i have ever face that i can remember was a 215 yard par 3 slightly down hill. Hit my 5iron and was about a yard short of the fringe. Chipped it close and putted for par. I really cant think of any situation where i would lay up on a par 3. I hit every shot with purpose and the beliefe it will do what i need it to. I think this is how everyone should play.
  21. been hit into many times. Usually on blind tee shots never actually was hit until last weekend. Was setting up to my ball and i hear a ball bounce i stand up and turn toward my playing partner and the ball hits me in the shoulder. Had it been aa nice ball i would have kept it but it was a top flight and i was angry so i hit it with my 2h into the water hazard on the hole to our side. We had just tee'd off when they rolled up and my partner hit his ball and i was getting ready to hit mine. Probably 2-3 minutes after we left the tee box.
  22. Update: Bob at Golf etc is an awesome guy. Talked to him yesterday morning, they are going to take care of everything and he said he was waiting on a call back from clevelands tech dept about how to and if to bend these clubs. If they are unable to be bent he said he would help me out the best he could with a new set. He will be the only one touching my clubs when/if i get fitted.
  23. im not sure if they are forged or not. All i can find on them is that they have CMM technology. Carbon Metal Matrix. Says they are supposed to feel softer than a forged club. As far as whether that matters or not. He said they had been bending cast clubs all day, and really always have and that shouldnt matter. Should have had Bob do it i guess. They had what looked like a 15yr old kid doing it and he was bouncing to get the club to bend. I have never seen this done before(bending clubs) but im sure a smoother controlled bending process is ideal. Either way, hopefully they take car of it asap. I am going to call today and make sure they atleast called yesterday.
  24. thought i would post up here since my drive distance thread has gone to shit. Went to golf etc today and was going to get my clubs bent. They said i needed them 2* upright. So first up is my 6iron. Put it in the vice/machine and a kid who works there starts bending/lunging with a cheater bar and SNAP......breaks right at the hosel. They acted like they were going to get it taken care of with cleveland, i hope they do so in a timly fashion, i have a tournament next weekend.
  25. Is it possible i just swing my driver hard? I definately feel like i use alot more lower body on my driver swing. IDK, I will get back to this when i have more data
