  2. Hello and Happy New Year. If you picked up some new hardware this past holiday and are looking to get rid of one of the following three styles of golf gps watches (Garmin S1/S2 or Golf Buddy WT3), please let me know your asking price. Thanks.
  3. Indeed. All the watches I've looked at are quite light. I did golf with a guy no too long ago that said he couldn't play with a watch in his wrist because it interferes with wrist cocking; he said he's popped the band on a watch during a round before he realized he just needed to leave it in the bag while on the course. I guess in his case, dropping a couple hundred dollars on a watch style GPS wouldn't be worth it.
  4. Three wedges in the bag: 52, 56 and 60. I'm a shorter guy, so they are all cut down 1 inch from standard, as is the case with the rest of my clubs.
  5. When winter sets in, I normally increase the misc tinkering in the garage. If I can dream something up and actually bring it to fruition, I'm a happy guy.
  6. Thanks for the info, but I'm a bit reluctant to classify a watch as a swing speed killer based on a research sample size of one. I can see how someone that typically doesn't golf with a watch could feel uncomfortable when swing with one on and lose swing speed; however, the first comment following the post proves significant distance can be attained while wearing a watch (Bubba Watson); I'm not convinced his swing speed and/or distance would increase simply by taking off his watch. It's definitely a valid research question, but it needs to be conducted with a sizable group of golfers of differing abilities to reach a valid conclusion.
  7. Nice one!
  8. Office, Parks and Rec, House of Card, Game of Thrones, Tremè, Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife (don't judge me
  9. Murs, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Phonte, Lupe; Kem when I'm looking to mellow out.
  10. Schick Xtreme 3 with Gillette (Sensitive Skin) gel on head and electric clippers on face. I'll have bumps and ingrown hairs all over my face if I shave with a manual. Both my dad and I wear shaved heads, but he has to use electric clipper for his head as well.
  11. I think black shoes are fine with shorts, as long as they're worn with black ankle socks.
  12. Have you experienced any issues with the S2?
  13. As a golfer on a budget, I've never played PV1s or PV1xs. I'm a UT Vol fan and was given some orange Be6s as a gift...my favorite ball, but the price tag is still a bit steep for me. Lately, I've play three different budget balls to see if any compare to the Be6s (Noodle L&S;, Wilson 50 Elite and TF Gamer V2). All three are great balls for the price. The Noodle is a good all around ball; the Wilson is great for feel around the greens and distance off the tee for lower swing speeds; the Gamer plays very similar to the Noodle to me, so I can't say one is better than the other. My wife bought me a box of orange Wilson 50 Elites for Christmas, so that's what I'll be playing. I try to keep things in perspective; if I was playing a PV1/PV1x and Zach Johnson (one of the shorter hitters on tour) was playing a TFD2, he would likely still out hit me by a mile. Until companies start sending me free balls through sponsorship, I'm going to play what allows me to shoot a good score rather than what allows tour players to go low. I'm not discrediting the big name balls, I'm just saying a "good" ball and solid swing will likely yield the better result than the perfect ball. I'm no pro, so that's just my two cents.
  14. While I'm currently a smartphone Golf Logix user (free version), I've been considering a watch gps unit. From what I've researched, people really like the Garmin watches; I like what I've read as well. There's been some recent complaints about the S3 having to be rebooted from time to time...the assumption is that Garmin tried to pack a bit too much technology into a small platform and it's caused some problems with that model (touch screen, text messages, etc.). People seem to worship the S1, but the lack of score keeping capability and dog-leg/hazard info causes some to lean towards the S2...which is also a solid watch, according to customer reviews. For someone like me, that doesn't really need to know the distance to the green on par 4/5 tee shots, the S1 should work. I've also had my eye on the Golf Buddy GB-WT3. I like that watch because it gives a reading to FCB, as well as an actual outline of the green from the location in which you are standing on the course. While the S2 and above gives you an outline of the green as well, the GB has it all on the same screen...if I'm not mistaken at least one button has to be pushed on the Garmins to get that view. Not really a big deal. The GB is a little more expensive than the S1, but less than the S2. If anyone has any additional info on the GB-WT3, I'd appreciate hearing your take. I hope this helps.

  17. Wow! I just turned on TGC and saw Chamblee's make-up job. Whoever his artist was, could have done a better job of covering up the significant sunburn he obviously received while there in HI. The visible burns on his neck causes the make-up on his face look like silly putty. You would think he would insist on a better job.
  18. Great point.
  19. ...did anyone catch that a lot of the products are "vintage faux leather"?
  20. I've never considered it before, but thanks for the great info...I'll be heading to my local thrift to see what's available, as I definitely fall within the category of "fiscally conscious golfer". Again, great tip.
  21. Anyone know of a shoe with an alternative closure system other that BOA? Due to the rave reviews, I've been considering getting a pair of FJs with the BOA closure system for some time. Before moving forward, I wanted to know if any other companies have similar products on the market. I haven't been able to find any. Thanks.
  22. Shorts were a must for me a couple years back; I was living in Guam. However, I'm now back in MD and pants are a required part of my early and late season wardrobe. I normally shop for sales on my golf attire. I recommend Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Kohls and Target. I've also scored quite a few deals at a couple of the outlet malls in the area; Champion makes fairly decent, and affordable, golf wear.
