  2. For some reason I'm not nearly as interested in this season as I was the last.
  3. This past Saturday, July 7th. We teed off before 8AM and by 11:30AM, it was 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. I picked her to win. Too bad... I think Marcela has this in the bag now.
  5. I think I smoked one the course once or twice years and years ago. I'm a bad golfer now, back then I was just digging holes around the course, enjoying my golf cart ride. I don't smoke weed now, only because I reached a point where I was abusing every drug, legal or not. I just stopped the abuse and dropped the illegal drug use completely. If weed is ever made legal, I'll fire up again. I don't get drug tested, and I wouldn't excuse myself if anyone I was playing with lit up, but I would not partake. I would however, pay close attention to see if it affected their golf game, God knows how much beer can affect someones game!
  6. I have an app that tracks putts, fairways, sand and penalty strokes. I also write out my score as I go along, on the traditional scorecard, and there I only track total strokes and putts.
  7. Thread title took me back in time!
  8. I sure didn't want to come off cynical or bitchy, but it was pretty funny to me that the gay marriage thing just got lost along the way, twice :)
  9. Good luck, hope you find someone to golf with! I'm just up the road from you, in Enon. But I'm golfing Friday in West Liberty and Saturday in Cincinnati :(
  10. THE very first post in this thread. It's not really a segue, since it's in the very first post of this thread and it's at least the 2nd time that someone asked basically the same thing. I know it's 5 pages back but it's the post that got the thread started. Zip and his escapades stole the show for a page or 2, but it's not that hard to remember how the thread got started. :)
  11. On my local course, one hole has a wasteland area running along the right of the fairway, it used to have a drainage pond and lots of trees, if you hit there, you were dead. They started cleaning it up, moving out dead trees, clearing out the area. It looks nice now but it's still just as bad to hit there. One day we had just teed off, I hit right there, and then I noticed the stakes and cord marking the area off, they had replanted some grass in the area where the trees and deadfall were removed. At that moment, the course owners son (The course PGA pro) came up on us and asked if we would check in when we made the turn, I assumed they just wanted to know because there was no one behind us. He asked how I was hitting, I was having a good start, bogey, par, bogey...then this crappy tee shot into the crap. He said "That's ground under repair, you get relief. Anyone asks, you just tell them a PGA pro told you!" We laughed, he drove off and I proceeded to take my relief! So what that tells me, at least at my course, if there is anything planted new, and it's staked off, then it's ground under repair!
  12. I would have never thought about it...I'm not a great golfer but I've been able to get rid of my 3 hybrid and 52degree, I just never seem to use them and carrying clubs, I wanna get it light! I'm down to 11 clubs now but I love the idea of adding a left handed club for that bizarre situation! Driver 5 Wood 4 Hybrid 5 Iron 6 Iron 7 Iron 8 Iron 9 Iron PW 60 Degree Putter
  13. Welcome fellow Buckeye-State-Person!
  14. Lol, The very first post in this thread mentions such a rant :)
  15. I normally golf in the mornings so my routine is: Instant Oatmeal at home, maybe a Greek Yogurt before I leave or on the road. I usually have a banana and granola bar somewhere on the front 9, and a peanut butter sandwich on the back nine. Sometimes I bring Cuties (little tangerines) for the back nine as well. I take bottle water and sometimes diet green tea. Today I had some Vita CoCo with me, but didn't drink it until after the round. I would most likely drink that during the round on really really hot days where I'm sweating. I'm still hungry after the round, but I usually don't have issues with energy. I'm 45 years old and in fairly decent shape. I walk the course, usually pulling the clubs, sometimes carrying.
  16. I've been joining some guys with regular tee times early in the morning, Up until today there were usually just 2 or 3 of them, plus me. Today I showed up and we were 5. I am usually the only one hitting off the Blue tees (regular), most of the guys are older and hit from the Silver (Middle), and one guy today, 80 years old...hit from the Gold tees (Forward). Today I felt very rushed on my tee shots, and I think we were slow. I don't think there is anything wrong with playing 5, as long as you keep up, but I think that many, teeing off from 3 different sets of tees was a bit uncomfortable for me. If that scenario comes up again, I will just go solo and tag behind the guys, creating a gap between them and anyone coming up on them. This was my first fivesome, and it was just strange all around, seeing 5 balls on the green threw me off, waiting on 4 other guys to putt threw me off, and of course feeling rushed on the tee box because 4 other guys were waiting on me. Not A Fan. :)
  17. Don't drink *too* much!
  18. I have no idea what a 'dickie' is in golf.
  19. I take bottled water, and sometimes diet green tea. I usually drink 3-4 bottles total during a round. I also generally have with me: A banana, fiber one bar, and peanut butter sandwich on wheat. I also usually golf in the morning and eat oatmeal at home, or get some at McDonalds on the way to the course. And I'm still usually hungry after the round :)
  20. Wow. I was kind of excited to click on this thread...now I'm not :(
  21. I watched that first episode, and my pick to win would be Anya (Thick Legged Girl) from PA.
  22. It's early in the year but: 1: I'm definitely in better shape now than just a couple months ago. 2: My course sent me a "previous members trial card" where I can golf from March 15 through May 15 for 3 bucks a round, I've been out more than a dozen times so far. 3: I've only shot over 100 a couple of times, I'm in the mid to high 90s now. 4: I've had NO alcohol on the course so far this year, and I plan on keeping it that way. 5: I haven't used a cart yet, every round has either been carrying or pulling, and I think it's helped my game as well. Next stop, low 90s, then breaking into the 80s. I may not get there before the summer is up, but by this time next year I can see it. I shot 89 once this year.
  23. I always thought Best Ball and Scramble were the same thing!
  24. I am the same way. I have played more than half my rounds this year alone, so it always seems like I am waiting on the group in front of me. I actually feel bad when I'm standing there watching them on the green, because that's when most people notice you waiting on them. I always think I'm rushing them. The last two times, when I came up on a group, they offered for me to join them at the next tee. The first group, three old guys, were on their front while I was on my back nine, so I played 6 holes with them and had a blast. The last time, it was a young husband and wife and I came up on them on #9. When we got to the green we saw all the carts (I've walked every round this year, the old guys and the young couple were walking as well) backed up at Hole #10 and the husband said "screw this I'll come back later tonight" (Our course has Daily Greens fees). I continued on. This weekend I went out with my two sons, aged 25 and 13. They rode together and I walked. The starter put us on the back nine and said the course should be wide open for us. He even came up on us at the 3rd tee and asked if we would stop in the clubhouse and let them know when we make the turn. I thought that was odd, but went back to golfing. When we made the turn, about 6pm, there were at least 7 carts lined up on Hole 1 waiting to tee off. My oldest son started whining, I calmed him down and said lets get in line! Sadly every hole on our back nine was like this, waiting 1-2 groups back to tee off. The oldest son threatened to leave several times, but he never did. I was surprised at how impatient he was. We were supposed to be having fun as Father and Sons. I didn't mind the slow play at all, in fact even with the huge backup on our back nine, our round took just under 5 hours, I was expecting worse when I saw the pile-up at Hole 1.
  25. I started with SbS on blackberry, but switched to SkyDroid when I went to an Android phone. Overall I like Skydroid better, but it does reset my phone from time to time on the course. It also seems to be a little better with the battery than Swing by Swing. I reinstalled SbS and tried it and over 2 rounds it crashed a few times, but I didn't lose any of my scores mid-round, I just had to restart the app. I'm keeping both installed (SbS has the scorecard module that I paid for back in the Blackberry days, and I paid for Skydroid when it was only $1.99) and I'll mess with them both for a while before deciding on which to stick with. I also just installed Easy ScoreCard Free Version to see how it is for adding scores on the fly, Skydroid doesn't do that yet. (Edit) Skydroid usually leaves me with around 30 percent battery life remaining after a 4 hour round, and SbS left me with around 25 percent. I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, regular battery, on Verizon.
