  1. I've only hit it off the turf so far, and haven't messed with the hosel yet, so I can't say for sure. I have a Baffler T hybrid in 19° coming on Friday so I can compare the two. Last time I hit the AMP 4H was this past Friday, it was about 35°, with range balls. And they were going straight and LOOOOOOONG..... just over the 200 yard flag.
  2. Damn, I paid $19k for my 10 acres. Guess I got a pretty decent deal!
  3. The AMP Hybrids are kicking the R11 hybrids out of my bag. How's that 3 wood? It's either the AMP or the Baffler 3 wood next for me.
  4. Spend the money on good lessons before spending it on another driver. A slice is the result of a swing fault (face open to the path at impact). Fix that, and you will fix your slice.
  5. Great explanation Mike. This has been one of the best drills my instructor has had me do over the summer, in particular, the connection of the left bicep to the left pec. Or "staying connected" says Mr. Jimmy Ballard. That, along with keeping my right elbow close to the body on the downswing has all together improved my driver and for the most part, has taken the right side out of my driver shots. My slice is all but gone! (It gets lonely and shows up once in a while, but otherwise, it seems happier wherever it went to. )
  6. If you haven't yet, give the Cobra AMP a try.
  7. I've been having some hand issues lately too. I started by switching from the PURE Pro (which is a firm grip) to the PURE P2 Wrap (which is their softest). That was a noticeable improvement. On my last round, I also tried playing with two gloves. Another improvement! Then, after chatting with Wes of PURE Grips, he recommended I try to build up the grips with a few extra wraps. They have a mid size P2, but mine are new, so I'll just try to build them up for now. I'll be seeing Wes in a couple weeks, I'm going to see if he can make a set of the midsize P2 wraps with orange paint. That would go well with my set, yet not be too loud! I never got along with the overlap grip, but I did find out I was getting my right hand too deep into the grip, if that makes sense. I had the shaft too far into my palm and not in the fingers, and my fingers were interlocking all the way down to the joints. Once we figured that out (my instructor, that is), and got the shaft more in the fingers of the right hand, that almost eliminated the soreness I had in my right pinky.
  8. I have the 2012 Cobra AMP driver and wouldn't think of getting rid of it..... BUT, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the AMP Cell driver. One driver head, and it is adjustable for lofts of 8.5°, 9.5°, 9.5° draw, 10.5°, 10.5° draw, and 11.5°. The AMP Cell Pro can be adjusted to 7.5°, 8.5°, 8.5° fade, 9.5°, 9.5° fade, and 10.5°. And the loft adjustments are decoupled from face angle. I do love my AMP driver, but can't wait to try one of these. I really like the one with the silver head and sole. I'm sure after they have been out awhile and the prices have came down, I'll pick one up.
  9. Wow, great comparison pictures Mike! I think you could almost overlay them onto one another and not see a lot of difference.
  10. Old WITB thread resurrection!
  11. My early Christmas presents arrived today.... the Cobra AMP irons.
  12. Resurrecting a 7 year old thread..... that might just be a record.
  13. Looks like you could probably use a fairway metal and/or a hybrid or two. Go to your local golf shop and hit several, find the one you like the best, then ask for that one.
  14. I have 4-GW on order. Probably won't use the 4 iron, and I have already have hybrids that I like that will fill in the gaps nicely. I actually like the orange. And since I use PURE Grips, i can just blow them off the old clubs and blow them on the new ones. So the only orange one sees on the driver is on the sole, and that's hardly ever seen anyhow. I pulled my 6 iron and put the AMP 7 iron I bought off eBay in my bag for this weekend (they are basically the same club). The difference in the feel was definitely noticeable! It is such a smooth feeling impact, on the good hits you don't really feel the contact with the ball, you just see it fly. A great ball flight is a beautiful sight, no matter which club hit it.
  15. I didn't have time to get out yesterday, but today and the rest of the weekend is mine! Heading to the range for a couple hours after I finish lunch. Then I have tee times for tomorrow and Sunday. High 50's to mid 60's the rest of the weekend. I love our Colorado Indian summer!
  16. inthehole - Yeah the prices are great right now. I got mine for $140. I love the sound, kind of a dull click, not the soup can ting. I keep saying it must have a gyro in it, because it is almost impossible to hit a bad shot with it. And I am really surprised that with the 45.75" length, I can hit the center of the face pretty consistently. I usually play my drivers at 43.5" to 44". But I'm not going to touch this one, it's too long and accurate just as it is. I liked the irons too, and have a set on order. The best thing I liked about them are the mishits were far less punishing than my current irons. And I can work them at will, something I can't easily do with the KE4's. Not a Rickie fanboy either, but these clubs simply work too good to ignore. Never thought I would have a Cobra in my bag.
  17. Yeah, this thing is a beast, I'm loving it. I didn't get the all orange one, but the standard one with the silver crown. Really a great looking club.
  18. Old school.... pencil and score card.
  19. In addition to what dak4n6 said, I noticed a couple things right away: 1] It's hard to tell from the angle, but the ball looks to be almost in the middle of your stance. If that's the case (or even if it's a touch further forward, but not forward enough), the club head might be coming through the ball with the face open to the path, and 2] right before you take the club back, you give a pretty big forward press. With the club head grounded, that will open the face. Try it with a 6 iron to see.... set up with the club head and shaft running right up the middle of your sternum. Then move your hands forward toward your forward pocket and watch the face of the club... it opens. And 3], again hard to be sure with the angle, but it almost looks like your shoulders are open as well.
  20. I use to fight a slice, but I finally have pretty much fixed that after a lot of instruction with a new coach (right elbow was also my main culprit). My new driver is the Cobra AMP that is adjustable for face angle (although I've left it at neutral). I swear that thing has a gyro in it! It's nearly impossible to hit it crooked. I am absolutely hitting the ball farther and straighter than I ever have. Overall weight is 299g, and the head is 190g, but it is very well balanced, and I can definitely feel the head throughout the swing. I have heard a lot of good things about the non-adjustable AMP driver. It is a draw-biased offset model, and that should definitely help out your slice. And with the new AMP Cell drivers due out in Feb 2013, the prices of the AMPs are dropping fast. I picked up my new AMP for $140, and the offset models were about $50 less when new. Here's one on eBay used 2 rounds for $75! Ends in a little over an hour though: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cobra-AMP-Offset-Driver-Golf-Club-/321026348244?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item4abea954d4
  21. My personal preference is the Bobby Jones wedges by Jesse Ortiz. I play the "older" models, and haven't tried the newer ones. Older model: New model:
