  1. That's about right. My swing speed is pretty much right in line with your and 190yds is my stock 4i shot w/little wind, good lie, etc.
  2. SHO is a lot of fun. I've been several times and always enjoyed it. The crowds aren't too bad so you have good access to see what's going on and can move around. The players will be less stressed since it's not a major. We spent about an hour one year chatting with VJ on the practice green after his round. Go and have a blast!
  3. I score better when I walk. I carry until it gets really hot, then I'll use a push cart. Fortunately walking is really encouraged at our club. If I have to ride when I'm out of town or with non-walkers I prefer to ride instead of drive. That way I can cheat and walk fairways. Something about walking helps me prepare for the next shot.
  4. I absolutely agree.
  5. It is very close to the finish of my studio select. I don't like the looks of the putter, but it makes the most putts. I had to do something to make it a bit more "mine"
  6. In the WITB Photo Edition thread I was asked about one of my putters so without junking that thread up with a different topic... I stripped the honey finish from a CA Series Sonoma using naval jelly from the hardware store. It was very easy to do and had no effect whatsoever on the paint fill. The process is fast... brush on the naval jelly with a brush to coat the entire putter head well let it sit for 10 min rinse off with warm water repeat This stuff has a strong rotten egg smell when it's working so you probably want to do it outside.
  7. Not necessarily. My 52* Vokey is a 252.08 model that's pre-spin milled. It's a great club for controlled shots under 100 when I need to keep the ball lower or full swings at 100-115yds. It will chew up the ball if you're a high spin guy though.
  8. Lot's of good info here. I recently went through this process myself hitting brand new range balls (we literally were opening boxes for me to hit them). I found the Trackman Pro results with range balls within reason. I took the best combination we came up with and played the demo club for 18 holes. I measured my drives with my GPS and compared to my old driver. At the end of my round I bought a new version of what we spec'd out and went through a quick fitting with it. Couldn't be happier with the results. I found that my on course results with a good ball were much better than Trackman predicted.
  9. I'll take a couple better pics this evening. The honey finish was already wearing on my putter in several places and it's only a few months old.
  10. Sean - I played Tour Action blades in college, about 1995. Loved those clubs and wish I still had them.
  11. All it took was a $7 can of naval jelly from the hardware store. Wipe it on with a good coating, let it sit for 10min then rinse with warm water. Dry it off and repeat. It was really easy and doesn't hurt the paint. I also put a custom shop grip on it b/c I didn't like the stock grip. I still think it's the ugliest of my putters, but it makes the most putts so it gets the most playing time.
  12. Nike bag Titleist 910D3 driver Titleist 909F3 15* 3W Mizuno FLI-HI 3i and sometimes 2i Mizuno MP63 4i-PW Vokey 52* 56* and 60* wedges (the 60* is dropped for the 2i) Scotty Cameron putter, usually a CA Series Sonoma or Mil-Spec. The custom SSL Newport 2.5 hasn't seen the course much Putters - I removed the honey finish on the CA series Headcovers removed Here's a shot from the SC custom shop when my putter was shown on their website
  13. I love Trackman. We have the Trackman Pro and Trackman gaming system at our club and so far both are a hit.
  14. Are you more worried about the stats for personal use or the technical definition by which pro stats are tracked? I track my FIR and GIR with my GPS. If I hit the fairway of the hole I'm playing I count it. If I'm in the first cut or all the way over to another fairway I count the miss as a right or left miss. If I hit a bunker right smack dab in the middle of the fairway I mark it as a missed fairway. If I hit too far through a fairway as in your scenario #2 I call it a missed fairway. The importance for the amateur in tracking these stats is consistent application so you know if you are progressing or not. There is one hole on my home course that is a hard dogleg left. I usually hit through the fairway into the adjoining fairway b/c I like the angle into the green better. When that happens I count it as a fairway hit b/c I hit it where I intended. Again, consistent application
  15. It will take a while before it's really grooved....and you'll hit some really crappy shots on the way there. I made a pretty major change in November. I've hit quite a few balls through the winter and the change is 90+% in place. Last week I had another lesson and we made another adjustment that I expect will take another few months to groove. Handicap over 6 months of scores only rose by .2 strokes, but if you look at Sept-Nov and compare Dec-today it would be up by 6 strokes. Hopefully it'll be worth it in a few more months
  16. Funny you mention this. I've been working on my fist pump with some slow-mo video. I've found that I'm pronating my wrist as I land when trying the "hold fist still and jump" style. I'm going back to stack and tilt fist pumps. The forearm center pivot of my body to the earth's single plain just isn't getting it done. Have you read the new fist pump laws? Blows away anything Johnny Miller ever said. When he critiques fist pumps now I cringe and hit the mute button.
  17. I ordered mine last week after seeing the deal on another forum. Ordered on Tuesday and received on Friday.
  18. I'm awful at this type of thing... http://sweeps.golfweek.com/bracket.asp?ID=1&Bracket;=775
  19. We've had way more snow than normal in middle TN....and I'm sick of it. Supposed to bump 50* this weekend, but if the snow doesn't all melt soon enough the course will still be closed. Winter sucks.
  20. I haven't seen this bag in person, but look at today's deal on the nailedit website... http://naileditgolf.com/
  21. I voted 5:1 also (before reading anyone's comments) just based on gut feel. I'm not a betting man, but I wouldn't bet against him. He has a lot to prove and his distractions should have really died down. I predict he goes on a tear in 2011.
  22. Stretch - great picture!
  23. Is Foley a tease or is he positioning to sell the next DVD with more info?
  24. I love it how he's come out of his shell....
  25. If you have a mixed set with 53s and 63s your loft gaps will line up, but if you put in 68s your loft gaps will change. The 53/63 design is stronger than the 68 design from 6i - PW. It's probably immaterial, but I figured you should know.
