New grips for 2011 and beyond...
hartattack52 replied to Copaman's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just sent my clubs into my pro shop to get new grips put on. I ended up with Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compounds. I also liked the VDRs though. The new decades were a little tackier though. The VDRs seem to be nice grips. -
I'm 16 and 6-2 155. My average drives this year are between 240-255. I'm getting fitted for a new driver at a demo day this weekend that will hopefully bring my launch angle down and allow me to get some more roll.

Need Help Selecting new Clubs
hartattack52 replied to kjkjkcjkcj's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My advice would be to test every club you can. Don't limit yourself to two options. As for the stiffness, you would have to get your swing speed measured. This will be the easiest way to determine what type of shafts you need. You mentioned the Callaway X22's. They are nice clubs. My brother has them and i like them a lot. You should still hit every set you can. Good luck. -
Hey guys, I need some help. I'v been playing golf for about 2 years now. I am down to a 12ish handicap. My ball striking is pretty good, but my misses are fat or left. I hit behind the ball and lose distance once and a while. The other thing i am working on is taking a divot, which i currently don't. I noticed in the video that i take the club to far side ways on the backswing and that my backswing is very long. I can't feel either one of these things and cannot seem to fix them. Are there any drills to fix this? And if you see anything else i should fix, i would appreciate it. Thanks.

Bushnell or Golf Buddy?
hartattack52 replied to golfer10's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I love my Golf Buddy. I have the World (just came out) and my dad has the World Platinum. They are both great. The touch screen is nice and it is very accurate. If you don't care about keeping score on it, i would suggest the world. It is the exact same as the world platinum, minus the score keeping. It is $100 less too. Every course i play on is already on it too. Good Luck -
Unfair Treatment??? Or am I being too sensitive?
hartattack52 replied to Jchuba03's topic in Golf Talk
This has happened to me before too. I am only 16, so obviously a little younger than the guys in their 20's. I consistently shoot in the mid to low 80's right now. No one ever says anything to me when i'm with my dad or any older guys that i play with. The most memorable time was last summer. My 13 year old brother and i went to play by ourselves. We played the front nine with no problem. When we were about to tee up on 10, 2 guys and their kids come from the clubhouse. One of the guys starts yelling at us and getting an attitude about how we better not think about teeing off when there are 2 older guys waiting to play. He says they are having a father son outing and how great their kids are. He goes on to say that we are crazy if we think they are going to wait for 2 kids that will slow them down. I told him that we wouldn't slow them down and that we could actually play. He continued to tell us to move out of the way before we had a problem. I had my little brother tee off and i went into the clubhouse. The guy at the desk had been standing outside and overheard the whole thing. He had also watched us on the first hole (week night after school and there was hardly anyone there), so he knew we didn't suck. He told them to start on another whole or leave. I also agree that many older people look down on younger guys, even with an adult with them. They make us feel like we don't deserve to play golf. -
Looking for a new putter
hartattack52 replied to randomman134's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My little brother has it and he loves his. I practiced with it until i got my nike method. The ghost has a very soft feel and rolls the ball nicely. It is rather light compared to other blade putters i have tried. That is the only thing i didnt like about it. I would try the nike method 001 if you can. It is my favorite by far. -
It was 73 in PA today. I shot an 83. Not too bad for my first time out.

$500 left in my budget. Help me spend it.

What everyone has said sounds good. The Nike sumo woods are a great idea. I got mine brand new at dicks last year for $80. Favorite club in my bag. -
Nike Method first impressions
hartattack52 replied to walfice's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I got my 001 last week. I love it. It really does get the ball rolling quicker. -
I have never used the R7, but the R9 460 shaft is a whippy piece of crap. I hate mine.
-
I use the r9 460, and i like it for the most part. Like ohiolefty said, it is kind of loud. I hit it straight, but sometimes it feels "dead." It doesn't always feel that great at impact. I know i am hitting the sweet spot, so it's not that. It just doesn't seem to go as far as it should. My dads new Diablo Octane goes at least 15 or 20 yards farther every time. The only other complaint i have is that the stock shaft is a piece of crap. If you like the r11, i say go for it.

I have nike Dri-Fit pants that i got for $32 from golf locker. I love them.
-
I know, it is horrible. I hit with the nike machspeed black with the stiff fubuki shaft today. I got much better numbers on the launch monitor than with my r9. The guy at dicks said it is the real fubuki shaft. Im deciding if i should get the nike or reshaft my r9.

need help with shoe selection
hartattack52 replied to mrprovisional's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I wear the FootJoy Sports. They are really comfortable and look awesome. -
I currently have a taylormade r9 460, but i need something with a stiffer shaft. I know the r9 has a "for taylormade" shaft. Does anyone know if the supertri has a "for taylormade" shaft or the real thing? Or am i better of getting the tp with a better shaft? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

It looks like you are swaying instead of rotating. This might be why you start your back swing with your hands. A good grip will help a lot too.
-
I hit the burner 2.0's, burner 09, and r9 before i bought my clubs. The 2.0 felt pretty nice. I got good distance on them (they are a little longer than normal clubs, about 1/4 of an inch if i remember correctly). They felt more forgiving than the R9s. I didn't really like them. If you want taylormade, i would go with the burner 2.0 or just the burner 09. Theres not that much of a difference in performance that i could feel.

This may be a dumb question, but how important or much would it help to get better shafts for my irons. I just got new ones this year, and plan on using them for a couple years. They are the callaway diablo edge with stock steel shafts. Would i get a noticeable improvement?

What is the flex on this shaft
hartattack52 replied to hartattack52's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is yellow not grey. And it isn't womens. Its too stiff to be a womens shaft. I got it checked at my pro shop and they said it was stiff. -
I was looking at my nike sq 3 wood today and noticed that the shaft said "W" I am trying to figure out if it is stiff or regular flex. It is the stock yellow mitsubishi shaft. Does anyone know what the W means and what the flex is?
