  1. Justin Rose is sneaky good. He's one I'd always have a hard time counting out. I'd love to see Day win it, but I'm not much of a DJ fan. Maybe he reminds me a little too much of Jeff Spicoli. "Duuuuude..."
  2. That's the most sense you've made so far in any of your posts.
  3. Just to maybe talk about something more relevant than a player who's currently T89 and likely to miss the cut.... * Dustin Johnson looks like he's choking a little earlier than usual. He probably thanked his lucky stars for the storm interrupting his round today, the way he was going. * David Lingmerth's name seems to be suddenly appearing atop leaderboards with more frequency lately. * Jason Day was on fire today - he probably didn't thank his lucky stars for the storm interrupting his round today, the way he was going. * Great recovery shot out of the water by Rory McIlroy. He isn't showing much in the way of his ankle bothering him. * Hiroshi Iwata ties the record for low score at a major championship, blistering the course with a 9-under 63.

Since then he's signed Richie Ingocnito , Karlos Williams , Ronald Darby , that coach who punched his neighbor's kid in the face, and now the LB who punched his QB in the face. As a Bills fan, I regret every one of these moves. IMO, Richie Incognito was the victim in the whole Miami scandal. He was victimized by an overgrown sissy who, if he truly didn't like what was going on (and that's not at all evident in the text messages between them that were released to the media), didn't have the balls to tell Incognito to knock it off. And Jonathan Martin has since "retired" from the NFL after two years because he couldn't hack it. There's no such thing as "bullying" between two full grown 300+ pound men who are NFL players. The stuff that was going on in the Miami locker room was not unique in any way and you can't tell me it doesn't go on in virtually every other NFL (and college, and high school) locker room. Not saying Incognito is an angel by any means, but the whole thing was grossly blown out of proportion and he got screwed in the deal. I'm glad to see that Buffalo gave him a second chance.
  5. Why bring something completely off-topic into another thread? It's bad enough that we've gone 13 pages just for somebody to try to convince a bunch of people on the internet that they can hit a 300-yard drive once in a while. Big deal. My average drive is around 230 yards, but occasionally I hit a 300-yarder too...on a downhill fairway with the wind behind me, when I catch it right on the sweet spot and the fairway is hard as asphalt. I don't see what difference it makes to anything that somebody can once in a while catch it on the screws and hit it 300 yards. I don't need launch monitors, Game Golf profiles, GPS screens or anything else to tell me that. I guess the only thing it has to do with the OP is the word "testosterone". None of this has anything to do with the original topic. Nor do ball flight laws, which are being discussed in another thread and you've been given links to research what Erik and Mike are saying.
  6. Well, that didn't take long. The Bills picked Enemkpali up today off the waiver wire.
  7. Try this with your putter: Aim the face left and make an outside to inside stroke at a ball. Make sure the face is to the left of the club path, not just left of perpendicular. Tell us which way the ball travels off your putter face. Clubface determines the initial direction of a ball, just as Erik said. Also, you do realize there's a difference between a pull slice and a push slice, right?
  8. With Breakable Bradford at the helm, the Eagles may want to maintain a little depth at the QB position. Besides, Sanchez was about as successful as Geno Smith during his time with the Jets.
  9. Definitely. I've never heard of "mirror neurons" before (interesting theory), but I do usually score better if I'm playing with better golfers.
  10. I try to pay as little attention as possible to the scorecard. I have a couple friends who are notorious "scorecard peepers" and I've told them that I don't want to hear anything about my score until we add it up after we're done. Nothing messes with your head like being told "You just need to par the next two holes to break ".
  11. From the news reports I've read, Enemkpali bought Geno a $600 plane ticket to come to his NFL combine (or some such thing) and Geno accepted the ticket but didn't show up. Enemkpali claimed that Smith owed him for the plane ticket and Geno had promised to repay him but hadn't done so yet. Enemkpali confronted him in the locker room about it, which was what led to the punch and Geno getting all his meals through a straw for the next 6-10 weeks. From the accounts of people who saw it, Smith never swung at him and didn't hit back after being punched. I wouldn't wish such an injury upon anybody, but it probably benefits the Jets in the long run. Geno hasn't shown much of an indication of being their QB of the future, so maybe now they can move on from this failed experiment.
  12. Congrats and good purchase. The G10s should serve you well, they're very "friendly" irons. If you can find a used Ping K15 driver, it would be worth considering - a very forgiving driver. I also like the K15 fairway woods. Putter is a very personal choice and recommendations won't do anywhere near as much good as going to stores and hitting them yourself, finding one that looks good to you at address and feels comfortable. There aren't a lot of long putters out there for us tall guys - I bought a Ping belly putter and had it cut down a bit so I could use it as a normal putter without having to bend over like Michelle Wie!
  13. Too late to edit my above post, but I found the thread I was talking about: http://thesandtrap.com/t/7771/mini-tour-play Definitely worth a read if you want an inside look at playing the mini tours and trying to make the big time. I don't know what ever happened to Ben, but I sure enjoyed the thread!
  14. I can't find the thread now, but there was a great one a few years ago by a guy who was trying to make the PGA Tour. It's a long thread, but a great read and offered a lot of insight into how hard it is to make the "big show". He couldn't make the Tour here, so he went over and tried to qualify for the PGA Asian Tour a couple times, missing it at least once by only 1 or 2 strokes. He talked about a number of times when he spent a lot of money traveling and playing in qualifiers, only to go home empty-handed (and with an empty wallet to boot). Definitely a tough road and it's becoming more and more apparent that Dan doesn't have what it takes.
  15. If I consciously think about rotating my hips during my swing, I over-rotate and end up hitting dead pulls. As you said, they'll rotate through the swing if I just stay loose and let it happen. Thinking too much during the swing gets me in a lot of trouble!
  16. A friend of mine went off with an 8-iron on a 155 yard par 3. It's downhill and we had about a 30 mph wind at our back. He flushed it, got it up in the wind and carried it 180 yards, so now anytime he's facing a 180-yard shot I ask him if he's hitting 8-iron. since it's obviously his 180 club.
  17. The problem is that Bradford seems to be made out of glass. I'd have a hard time putting a team's season on his shoulders, especially with Sanchez as his backup. FWIW, I've read a couple pieces by NFL analysts who say that Tebow stands a good chance of making the team. They say his throwing action is much improved and there's talk that Chip Kelly may have some wildcat/goal line packages in mind for him. Personally, I think I'd feel just as comfortable (maybe even more comfortable) with Tebow taking snaps as I would Sanchez, especially if the former is showing improvement as they say. Kelly has made a lot of bold changes in the offseason. It will be interesting to see how it pans out for the Eagles this year, and whether Chip ends up being considered a genius or a nut case.
  18. I use the SuperStroke 3.0 also and haven't found another grip I like better.
  19. Acknowledged. What I was getting at was a follow-on to the previous post - he holds all 5 Keys and consistently executes them. His swing may be unorthodox, but it's effective.
  20. ...and his swing is consistent/repeatable for him.
  21. 200 yards out and 100 yards to the right = 300 yard drive. Boom!
  22. Not only that, but if you watch his head and upper body, there is absolutely no backward sway whatsoever in his backswing. Watch the position of his head in relation to the bright palm frond behind it. Perhaps gtaj is mistaking the decrease in flexion of his right leg/knee as "sway".
  23. There's not a doubt in my mind that there are people who can drive it 300 yards. The issue I have is that there seems to be a much larger number of golfers on the internet who claim 300+ yard average drives than I've encountered in real life.
  24. I wouldn't rule out the thought of him doing exactly that. But he and the Republicans both know that by doing so, he'll probably screw them worse than Ross Perot did in '92. Whether he's qualified to serve as POTUS or not, he's saying things that a lot of people want to hear and regardless of how much he offends some people, he would probably garner a considerable number of votes.
  25. IMO, the Repubs letting Trump play in the sandbox has been both comedic relief and a strategic move. I don't think they would ever give him serious consideration as their candidate regardless of his poll results because he's a loose cannon and they have absolutely no control over him. Politicians have to be good little puppets that talk and move when their masters pull the strings (this goes for both parties, so I'm not throwing stones at Republicans only here) and toe the party line. Trump is only for Trump's agenda and doesn't answer to anybody else (as he's repeatedly shown). The comedic relief part of it is letting him run his mouth and put out all kinds of ridiculous (and occasionally funny) quotes; the strategic part is that when they've finally had enough and kick him to the curb, any of their other candidates will look good by comparison.
