Ordered my irons and shoes through them - both came within a couple days.

Only issue is that I live in TX so I had to pay sales tax.

I think if they have a store in your state, you pay tax. That would include most of us.

I bought my driver and woods from them. I also buy a lot of my componets from them also. They are very prompt and reliable. Best place to buy anything golf.

  • 3 years later...
The products that Golfsmith sells are awesome. They coming in the correct packaging and I have no problem with the product itself.
Now after saying that, I have no respect for the online staff or personnel that answer the phones. They are completely clueless to what they are predicting when it comes to the delivery of the purchased items from there company. I had no idea that they where the middleman for the company. I thought that they had the items in stock. I purchased almost $1300.00 in items from Nike on the 4th of January 2013. The receipt then showed that I was not getting some of the items sent to me until the 18th of January 2013. When I called and questioned the timing of the delivery of the things that I purchased, the first person from GolfSmith told me that she is sorry but she understands that I would not have known that most of my purchases would not come within a day or so until I get the invoice of what I purchased from them. She stated that this was a flaw and in there process and was sorry but did not want to loose my business.
Got a few items that came on January 10, 2013 and I called to see if all the items was coming. The GolfSmith person told me over the phone that they are bidding on the items through the vender and having problems with the process but let me put you on hold and I will call them directly. Boom, she comes back to tell me that she does not understand why I got some items from the Nike Vender but everything else has not shipped and she does not have any idea when it will. (4 Nike Shirts, Nike Belt, Nike Hat,)
January 18th 2013 comes and goes but I do not have my articles of purchase so I call again to GolfSmith, this time they tell me that they are sorry for the problems that they are having with the vender and it is still showing that it has not been shipped. SO now I find out that they are not just the middleman between what you are purchasing but a 3rd party in some of the products that they are selling at discount. I tell person from Golfsmith on the phone that I was very disappointed in this and this was not what I was expecting. Golfsmith rep stated that they are having a problem with the vender and are presently redoing there contractual obligations with them to settle the matter but at this time nothing is going to be shipped from them and all there customers will have to wait for this matter to be solved. SO he has no idea when the items are going out to paid customers. I then expressed my displeasure on the matter and explained to him that I will no longer be doing busy with GolfSmith and was canceling my other purchases that I did 7 days after my first one in the amount of $4759.00. He then stated that he would give me a discount on the first purchase order and said that he was sorry. January 20, 2013 got these items from my purchase (Nike Hat, Nike Golf Gloves,)
I did not get the complete purchase order until January 25th 2013.  As I am talking to the guy on the phone, GolfSmith Rep tells me that none of the rest of my items have shipped and he is sorry. Then the door bell rings as I am on the phone. Boxes from Nike (Nike Staff Golf Bag, Nike Towels, Nike Hat Pins, Nike Ball Markers and Nike Golf Shoes). I ask him as I have the boxes in the house when are these thing going to arrive and he says, I DO NOT KNOW SIR, I HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU THIS, IT IS OUT OF MY CONTROL AND THEY HAVE NOT SHIPPED YOUR PURCHASES!!!!!! So if you have the time to wait. And you want to wait for them to bid on items from your purchase through GolfSmith, then they are the company that you want. You are at the mercy of when you will get the products because Golfsmith is a 2nd or 3rd party vender of items at discount. You will have to deal with people that do not know what they are talking about or you will have to deal with major excuses on why you have not received your items of purchase but it is NEVER THERE FAULT. it is the vender that is letting them down, even though you made the purchase from them directly.
So I will never purchase anything again from GolfSmith. They are totally uninformed, rude, lie, and disrespectful. When they get your purchase, they are happy but when you start to ask when you are getting your items, they are clueless. Just remember, they do not have your items in stock, they are getting everything from a 2nd party or 3 party vender.

I have been ordering (mostly) components from Golfsmith for almost 30 years now - the first club I built was a persimmon 3 wood in 1986 (no jokes about age please!).  With one exception I've had prompt, accurate service.  The one time that we had an issue (I ordered shafts that were in stock so I could get some hybrids built before a trip) they quickly fixed and sent the right item in time (just - but in time).  I'd order from them with confidence.

Bought my i-20's from Golfsmith. No issues. Also bought my Cameron and Titleist in person from the Indy store and they were very helpful. The club tech re-gripped my wife's clubs and a putter of mine while we waited.

I asked the Golfsmith here in Michigan if they price match.  They said they do if they can see the price on the internet.   My local golf superstore (King Par) matched their price so I stayed closer to home to buy my new irons.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

My Father has had his clubs constructed from Golfsmith items for the last 15 years with out any problems. Quality is always there! I still have his first set of XPC irons and fairway woods from early 2000 and they look great! I can't say much about customer service as we had a friend who is a golfsmith do all the ordering.

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
