i had a thread earlier on trying to find a golf shaft to replace my wilson smooth drivers fuji 360 efit.

loomis golf shafts? the one thing some were as unsure about as i am. But literally just seconds ago as i was signing on i saw these shafts on golf channel's *champions tour learning center". custom collegiate sponsored shafts in driver, fairway, and putter shafts. Still curious if anybody has used it? tried it? they apparently had a successful history and recently have had success winning 2 fedex cup tournaments or something. (not mentioned which tournaments, which made me skeptical)

anybody know anything?

~+~just cause im young doesnt mean im a "this era tiger, phil, etc." fan.

flashback to the 09' open. To Watson, i thank you. playin golf ever since.~+~

wouldn't surprise me as Loomis makes some of the finest (and prohibitively expensive) graphite fishing rods - getting into golf club shafts would make sense.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

G Loomis used to make golf shafts, at the time they were considered pretty high end shafts. I still have one laying around in an old golfsmith driver head I built.  I think I assembled that club in 1997, and have no clue when they stopped making golf shafts.  They were used extensively on tour, and for pros who used graphite in their irons, it was almost always G Loomis.

A Google search reveals Aldila bought the golf part of "G Loomis" and is using "Loomis" to sell shafts with the names of football teams on them.

"G Loomis" still makes fishing rods with a much nicer looking website then the golf shafts.

Dear Brad,

Just replying to your old message about Loomis Golf Shafts. GLoomis was a very successful golf shaft brand back in the 90's and they were popular with their composite iron shafts. Aldila bought them back in the 90's and had 5 years to use the brand name and they decided to kill the brand. These "collegiate" shafts are a start in bringing the brand back to the marketplace. The composite wood shaft was designed as a "high Launch", mid spin product. Many golfers that have tested the shaft see an increase in ball speed when testing on launch monitors compared to other shafts. Their steel decorated products are a True Temper Dynamic Gold wedge shaft and a True Temper step-less steel putter shaft.

    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
