I'm nervous about the gains I've made so far this year depreciating over the winter. This is the first winter where I will have a house. . . so I will have to shovel :-/ but also. . . I might be able to rig up something in the basement to practice my swing. I don't think the ceilings are high enough though. We have a large unfinished basement, I was thinking of maybe getting a turf putting green down there.

In the "golf talk" forum there was something about the dan plan, where dan planned on practicing 10,000 hours to go pro. When I read that yesterday I tried to add up my playing time since I started when I was maybe 8-9 and I think I may be at around 600 hours. Almost there!

When I lived in the badger state, I used to hit up Vitense in Madison a lot and use their heated range.  It wasnt exactly ideal as its still an open air range and some day, even with the heaters on full blast it still stung my hands and I couldnt really use my hybrids or woods but it was better than nothing.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Woods: :mizuno: JPX 850 9.5*, :mizuno: JPX 850 15*, :mizuno: JPX-850 19*, :mizuno: JPX Fli-Hi #4, :mizuno: JPX 800 Pro 5-PW, :mizuno: MP T-4 50-06, 54-09 58-10, :cleveland: Smart Square Blade and :bridgestone: B330-S

I had this thought earlier but it escaped me. I'm not old enough for that to start happening yet, but growing up in Wisconsin with all the consistent beer consumption it shouldn't surprise me. Anyway, the new house has a 2.5 stall garage so I will be able to swing away in there so long as I have a mat or something to protect the clubs from the concrete!

Man, that is dedication! I'm hoping I wouldn't have to go through those lengths, but we have a year round range similar to this maybe 30 minutes away and I have similar frozen finger range memories!

I suppose the garage isn't heated so I don't know how well it would work afterall. At least I'd be out of the wind and under a roof!

Work re-imburses my YMCA membership, but since summer started I've neglected the YMCA in favor of golf for my free time (free time seems to be more and more of a rare luxury these days!). This would just be awesome if it were the case for our local YMCA. I will have to investigate. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, it'll test your dedication.  There were many times where I was the only one using the range and I turned all the space heaters on full blast and used the middle hitting bay, just to soak up as much heat as I could.

Let me just say that as much as I love Wisconsin, I like winters in Ohio a lot better!

I live north of Chicago, but I sacrifice for the good of the game.

I go to Florida in November and come back May 1st.

Retirement is good and someone needs to help the Florida economy.

How much work was it installing the putting green? I would love to do that, we have a huge unfinished basement. Note - as an accountant, I'm not very handy at all unless it's a 10-key or a keyboard.

It was kind of cheaply made but it works, and rolls well.  Can't say it has helped my bad putting.  Haha!

So how are you going to charge me to show me the push draw?

Can't charge, I am an armateur. And not even a very good one. Haha!

Unless you fib about your scores Id say your a very good one but thats just my opinion. This month is busy for me but Id like to take you up on your offer to go to the range what day and time usually works for you.

PM me if you want when you are ready. Lunch time during the week probably works best for me. Otherwise a weekend would work as well.

Have not been there but played golf with the owner last year and a mutual friend from Oconomowoc Golf Club..  Really good guy.

This is a little closer range for me in the winter.

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
