Hey guys. I've been searching for an answer to this question for a while now and all I can find are tips on club selection based on an already known elevation change. My question is, does anyone have a method for determining roughly how many feet up or down a flag or other target is? I'm hoping for something that just involves your eyes and maybe an outstretched arm and/or fingers.

How about minimum change no club difference, intermediate change +\- 1 club, extreme change +\- 2 club difference? Keeping it simple.

Welcome to the forum @adam2594 ,

The best way to do it is using Google Earth. If I am playing a new course, I use Google Earth to look at the course layout, distances to hazards off the tee and elevation changes. It's pretty easy to do.

Using your hands can be a challenge because you need to know distance. The link below shows a method that you could adapt.
