  1. Yeaaaa, it was a letdown last night. Doesn't help we've seen two blowouts so far. Additionally, I have no idea why Tiger went with Kevin Kisner on his squad. The guy's game has really fallen off the last couple years. And lastly, I do wonder about those Full Swing simulators. Those are considered not-so-great, right? I'm not in the industry, so I don't know, but I seem to recall people not loving their accuracy.
  2. They should announce just before a match that in no way shape or form will we see any LIV involvement in TGL only to have a LIV team of Bryson, Brooks and Patrick Reed show up mid-broadcast NWO style, mic in hand, talking shit to the PGA Tour guys and the booing crowd, then leaving. Then a week later they play a TGL event.
  3. I wouldn't mind getting a Jupiter hat since I live down here, plus it's Tiger's team. I enjoyed how much faster it was, as well as the grass tees. I'm looking forward to Tiger's first match next week. Shame, it looks like the entire season's sold out. I live right down the road from it. Oh well.
  4. We got a new one, guys. LGLG!
  5. John Cale and Brian Eno -- Spinning Away (1990)
  6. My driver is slower, relatively, at only like 103 mph when I play. I know it should be higher than that with an 88 mph 8-iron, but I have to slow down to find the middle of the face. I'm hoping to get it closer to where it should be, at some point in the next year. I just noticed my embedded swing removed frames of 6 and 7, so if anyone want to see them you can click the video to watch on YouTube directly. Here are those missing frames though: The LiveView camera gives me just enough frames I think to help me during these range sessions. It helps the most in between swings, where it's easy for me to review the previous swing, position the camera well for the next one, make rehearsal swings as if I was looking at a mirror and then seeing my setup and takeaway. It's hard for me to observe more than that during the swing itself, but if I go half speed, I can observe 4 and my transition quite a bit and work on that with it too.
  7. Thank you! Here in the video I'm going slower than normal. Maybe like 80mph only at best. On the course it's probably like 90ish mph. The last time I measured my 8-iron going full it was going 88mph and that was in late August.
  8. I'm getting in only two range sessions per week at most these days. I prioritize four gym days per week, mirror work, plus an option day for rest or the gym. It's more important for me to be fit than it is for me to be good at golf right now. That being said, each rep I make on the range is about as efficient as ever. My swing is working the best it ever has in my entire life. This is a slower 7-iron swing for me, but the sequencing is looking really good here. That is reflected in my scores too, which are low 80s these days, despite not playing as much as I know I need to to really progress. Working on: early extension stuff, Penick's magic move, widening the right arm, pushing up with the lead leg, and finally, right side bending an appropriate amount post impact. The last six, seven month or so of core and leg training with my DPT, with a lot of dry needling, has really helped me swing this way. He's TPI certified too and I do the same routine he gives his tour players. Training with him is also training my golf swing IMO. It's insane the amount of work we've done on my left hip and lower back and I'm reaping the rewards now. I re-upped for another year at PGA National too, so hopefully I can have some fun rounds this winter. Fingers crossed! The Foreplay Good Good stuff was still up a day later. Pretty funny. I didn't go because I was watching football all day, but it would've been kinda cool to catch the opening tee shots. I still do rehab twice a week and currently we're doing some work on minor neck and left wrist pain I've been having. Neither I consider serious, but these are just a couple of examples of the weekly grind I face in keeping myself in good shape and why I don't play a ton of golf, which for me, always makes my body weaker in various ways. Golf is exercise too, for twisting related stuff, but it also takes a toll on me in a negative way. Therefore, I always make a point to treat golf like the gym, with highly efficient reps at the appropriate "weight" with appropriate rest and reflection in between. My distances are solid tho. My median driver is probably 260 without trying. My slow 7-iron swing goes like 170. I'm much more concerned with sequencing, and anything that compromises that is a failure in my book, in terms of my long term development. Anyway, clearly the swing isn't perfect. Bit too shallow going back, with a steepening move in transition, but I'm hitting the middle of the face at by far the highest rate I ever have. I get better every month it seems. It would not shock me at all if I hit like a 3.0 handicap or better at some point in the next year or two or three. Fingers crossed, guys. I know I need to get out there more in order to achieve that. Some future pieces I know I need to focus on more are arms/wrist related. My hackmotion sensor tells me to bow the wrist slightly from P5 onward. I know that's a big reason why I have a bleeder fade miss. Otherwise I keep the face square until that point. The only reason I don't really focus on this one is because it's simply too many thoughts to juggle and I want to get to P5 better with my body and arms first. I have to spend too much bandwidth on not early extending and throwing my arms out in the transition, especially with the longer clubs like 3-wood and driver. Pretty darn excited though about my game these days. This is the lowest amount of dread I've ever felt over the ball, ever.
  9. Dang... in the realm of things that probably don't matter all that much, golf slumps are the worst. Yes definitely consult a pro ASAP. Get back to hitting it solid again. Hitting the sweet spot solves a lot of problems. For me it's always the latter. My confidence grows as I hit more and more solid shots, which are the result of continuing to improve my swing thru better concepts, better practice, etc. Yea, this for sure. And also, without a professional there to let you know you "did it better this time" it can be unnecessarily frustrating and confounding working alone. It's not that you can't work alone; clearly, you can. But during rough patches, it's always smart to consult professionals. Lessons are an amazing place to take new concepts and turn them into feels that you are confident will work. It's still really cool you consider this your best ever season. Congrats on hitting 7.8 this year!
  10. Definitely better. Keep doing it more. More wall drill. Right glute stays on the glass in transition as it shifts laterally 3 inches or so. Then the left glute back and up on the downswing. You're almost there. Yea, I hear you. Old habits die hard. It looks like you have about 8 degrees of early extension with the upper body from where you were at address. If you can somehow maintain your address angle at impact while finger printing the glass, you'd probably get some pretty quality strikes. Getting the glutes/pelvis stuff working better is the more important of the two, but they are related for sure. You can work on both when you do the wall drill. You will have to try to adapt to hitting the ball with lower hands/a lower handle than you're used to and that can be pretty challenging. Hopefully your mobility/core stuff is good too. That'll help.
  11. Better at setup yea. Keep pushing that right glute back into the glass on the backswing. You know you need a 2-3 inch lateral hip slide in the transition/re-centering phase, then finally, the part you're clearly struggling with the most, you need to fire the left glute up and back thru the glass again. It's called "finger printing the glass" I think? You completely lose connection to it. The amount you have to do this, feel wise, is gonna be like at least an 8 out of 10, maybe more. Because you're not doing it at all. The pelvis tracking towards the ball removes space for the arms and hands. Think of how much a tour level player uses his glutes. Athletic Motion Golf has a lot of videos on this topic. It's really common to quad load. You want to use your posterior chain tho, NOT the quads. Try to think of this in 3D in order to properly visualize this, but you need to use your glutes and hamstrings way more. This isn't gonna be about necessarily placing yourself in positions, but understanding which muscles are used in order to get there. Does this make sense? If you have a swing speed monitor, you should see a pretty good spike in speed if you do this right. In order to get your left glute to push back against the wall on the downswing, you will need to apply a lot of force into the ground with the lead foot, in addition to firing the glute. It could be really helpful to take your setup 1 inch from a wall in your living room, feeling the right glute push into it on the backswing, feeling the right glute slide against the wall in the transition 2-3 inches, then feeling the left glute push into the wall on the downswing, with mostly hip rotation at this point. Reference the above AMG video to see the pro pattern if you feel confused or lost. It's fairly dramatic how much you have to do this relative to where you are now, downswing wise.
  12. I voted top ten all time season. Scottie trying to help Tiger with his struggling game:
  13. I think Erik's gonna say you have too much weight in your heels again. IIRC, this is part of why people move the pelvis towards the ball in the backswing, as part of a rebalancing move.
  14. My first thought is "oh wow, that's the back of the Fazio range at PGA National." Interesting comment about their range balls, which are definitely built for volume and nothing else. I don't have a problem with them at all, but other private courses around here have better range balls. PGA National just gets so many people coming thru there week after week I kinda get why they chose the range balls that they did. I thought it was a very informative lesson. Like Grant, I'm a solid bunker player... and I understand why now after hearing this. I could definitely use a longer flat spot thru impact for pretty much every shot outside 45 yards. Grant has complained about his driver in recent videos, and I wish they worked on that some. That would've been cool to see too. I remember seeing this vid in my recommended a couple weeks ago, and I just skipped over it. Thanks for sharing and letting us know you thought this was good. I enjoyed observing this lesson.
