I start to slice the ball and my swing speed is getting faster. Should I use a stiff shaft? Thanks.

Depends. The most common reason behind a slice is when someone comes across the ball (outside-in). Do you have a swing video anywhere we can have a look at? I've heard of cases where someone tries to swing harder, pulls it to the inside, producing the outside-in path, and slicing the ball.

With due respect, slice is a problem for most 36-handicapper. Then no, you don't need stiff shaft. I think you need a lesson.

most likely you are swinging outside-in and or leaving the clubface open at impact. but thats normal for 36 handicapers or people taking up the game. most peoples backswings are fine but on the downswing is where things go wrong.

i agree. i wouldn't worry about the shaft until you've let someone see your swing.

It's been said. Look to a good pro for lessons... And before you go looking at x shafts, get a little experience, and get fitted properly. They say fitting is for everyone - including and especially for new/high hcp players, but I find that could be a dual edge sword. (If you can't make a decent swing, doesn't really matter what is is you are holding) But if you are "satisfied" that the swing you have is what you want to work with, then get to a fitter, and let them evaluate what flex shaft suits you.

Good luck with the game!
