hi - this may sound really weird but I am afraid to buy a titliest 907 D2 driver even though I have hit it on the launch monitor and liked the way it felt and the weight of the club etc.. I am 14 handicap and shot in the mid to high eighties. I used to have clubs with slightly closed faces and I really want a club with square face cuz i naturally hit a draw and am trying to learn to fade the ball for controls sake. anyways - I have always thought titliest driver were only for people who are single digit handicappers - can anyone offer their thoughts?? my swing speed is around 95 mph and I play at least twice a week and my handicap was a 19 last feb. so it seem to be falling and I am getting better - am i of the level to take the plunge on a titliest driver or am shooting myself in the foot with a hard to hit driver ?? don't know why i fear the titliest- someone tell me its ok ;)

Why are they hard to hit?
I'm sorry that the MOI isn't infinity but they're still not hard to hit.
They're easy, like all drivers now.

IMHO: If you have to talk yourself into liking the club, pick another brand. Those doubts won't disappear because of anything I say.

SW,

Have no fear. The Titleist drivers are excellent. I'm an 11 HC, not much different from yours and have no complaints. I own, two, the D1 and 905T. I demoed the D2 and while I liked it, it did not feel much better than my 905T. Therefore, I did not see a reason to upgrade. If you want to be able to work the ball, I'd go with the D2.

Go to the main page. The driver was reviewed by TST.

Go ahead an buy it if you like the brand, the look and the feel.

As others have said, just about all of the titanium drivers are good and relatively easy to hit. I can't think of much that is just for 0-9s - except a standard blade 2 iron. I think I have a Cleveland in the bag because the Titleist 9xx series was unjustifiably higher in price at the time.

The noticeable difference is size. The 905T is 400CC and the 907D2 is 460CC. In terms of forgiveness, I did not feel much of a difference. Neither driver is going to reward you for hitting a bad shot and you will feel the mis-hit. However, you will be able to work the ball and they both have a nice, pear shape.

FWIW, I paid $70 for the driver head on Ebay. I purchased the shaft, separately, too and had it installed and pured. I paid $250-$260, total. Something you might want to look into.

well i took the plunge and got it. At golfsmith they fitted me - my swing speed varies from a low of 90 mph and a high of 98. The shop fitter had me hit both a d2 reg flex graphite design y-6 shaft and a stiff - i seemed to hit the stiff better - i have never had a stiff shaft in my driver - but I figured heck the numbers are there and my misses were still in the fairway at least so says the monitor. anyone else made a switch like this from reg to stiff based on accuracy?? I seemed to get more or less the same distance out of both but I really hope I made the right decision - but I can always trade her up on their 90/90 play garuntee i have to .

Congrats, SW. I hope you enjoy the driver. Did you take it out on the range, yet?

FWIW, if you find that you are having trouble with the stiff, you can always switch back to a regular and cut down the shaft. This will provide you with more control. BTW, did you happen to record what the CPM of the shaft was when you were getting the best results? A good fitter can set your driver to play at that number. Just an FYI.

hey thanks man - but whats cpm???

i havent taken it to the range yet - but my thoughts witha stiffer flex were that since I am on the line between reg and stiff and many of my shots even when struck dead center balloon a bit iw as hoping for a lower launch and less severe flight - so we will see i guess

CPM is what determines flex in a driver. Based on the data, the fitter can optimize this for you.

For example, let's say your optimal numbers were: 96 MPH SS, 13* Launch, 2800 Spin Rate, 147MPH Ball Speed and the CPM for this was 253. The fitter can then set your shaft to that rate, pure it, so that the kickpoint and playability is constant. You can get this done at any point in time.

cool 96 mph is about my average and the spin stays under 3000 at this speed - so does stiff sound good with those numbers?? also i think the graphite design y-6 is supposed to have a more flexible tip- it is def. looser feeling than the V-2 stiff shaft i tired- that felt like a stiff board

Yes, I think you will be fine. Last question for you. What ball did you use? The ones you play with or whatever GS had?

Spin Variance. You use the NXT Tour which is not the most spinning ball. I think you'll be okay. I'm almost positive that you will gain some distance, too.

Best of luck, though. I think you'll really love the 907D2.

    • Why should SuperSpeed get 3x of Stack's profits? I get the part about SuperSpeed wanting damages sustained as a result of Stack, but I don't get why SuperSpeed feels that they're entitled to both Stack's profits and damages.   Does anyone know/think SuperSpeed actually has a case here?
    • https://static1.squarespace.com/static/603d222df4a6a57df7ef3e29/t/663cdba5d89e3a1848dab8d1/1715264422455/US_DIS_ILND_1_24cv3749_d34676497e293_COMPLAINT_filed_by_SuperSpeed_Golf_LLC_Jury_Demand.pdf The full complaint is there, but  basically, SuperSpeed (SS*) is claiming the Stack System (SS*) Stack System’s [sic] produces inflated metrics later used to, [sic] mislead and deceive consumers. Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
