I'm very, very passionate about the game and believe that I know a great deal of things about club design and what not and am curious if anyone here on the board is involved in the industry whether it be for a small company or a major manufacturer. Just throwing this out to see how people went about breaking into the industry and the experiences they've had. I currently work for a financial firm and am extremely unhappy with my professional life. I have come to realize in the last few months that I am just really unhappy and am looking to make the change. Whether it be a rep or anything I'm looking to make the move and thank anyone here for any advice they can offer.

At least you are living in the right place: Titleist is located in Fairhaven.

Don't know how close it is but it won't hurt to contact their Human Resources rep and request an informal interview. This way, you get some ins and outs of the company, get a feel for what you are seeing and have a face-to-face contact.

At the very least, you are taking the first step in putting yourself in a position to succeed.

The question you may also want to think is (and probably do a reserach), does a rep job gives you the same job security as your current one in financial firm? If you have a family to raise and it can bring home at least the same amount of bacon, then all power to you.

Anyway, I wish you good luck!

Actually, if I may interject...

Titleist is in Fairhaven, yes, but the club division (R&D;/Manufacturing) is in San Diego. Carlsbad to be specific. Callaway is in Carlsbad as well. A number of other golf companies make home in San Diego - Ben Hogan, the Scotty Cameron Studio, Taylormade/Adidas Golf, Aldida (shafts), Mitsubishi Rayon (shafts), True Temper.

I'm sure there's more I've missed, but I can't recall at the moment.

Anyway, my point is that if you want to get into club R&D;/development/manufacture.. then San Diego is the place to be.
