What is my Blister trying to tell me?

This picture shows where I developed a blister from being out and playing yesterday. What is it trying to tell me? Am I gripping the club too tight? Too loose? I'm trying not to hold the club with my hand, but to hold it with my fingers. Is this right? wrong? Or is this kind of a normal "newbie" blister that will go away once my hands start to develop callosouses?

PS: I didn't have a glove yesterday, so I was playing everything bare-handed.

the no glove is probably the culprit. I also don't see why you wouldnt want to protect against callousing. I have two small callouses on my left hand because i take off my glove from 30 yards and in...but in general, i'd prefer to take measure to avoid callouses.

My first instinct was why is the club moving around in your hand? If you are truly gripping the club in the fingers and correctly I don't think you are going to get a blister there. Do you choke up on all of your clubs?

gripping a club just now, It looks as if almost you can be gripping a little too tight, and that hand is moving around more than it should on the swing, causing wear on that part of the hand. You may be twisting that hand a little bit.

I would say that you are gripping too high on the club, and you should choke down just slightly. I used to wear holes in my gloves like crazy in that position because I held the club so high in my grip. Now I've choked down, only like 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch and I no longer see the wear on my glove.

That is my two cents, take it as you will.

Do you mean that I'm too high on the grip, too close to the club head? Or too far from the club head?

This could make sense. I've been told that I "tense up" when I play. The best advice given to me came when I was told to "RELAX" and it helps. Maybe I'm just gripping too hard.

That blister location tells me you're gripping the club too much in the palm.
This inhibits a good release which is so important if you want clubhead speed.

The grip should run from the base of the left pointer to just below the base of the pinky (the exact location varies by instructor), then wrap your fingers around the grip - do not collapse the hand onto the grip and squeeze. Use light grip pressure as others mentioned.

I'm going to hit the driving range after work (only $4 !!!

) and double check on this. I do the first half correct, laying the club across my fingers and not my palm. The more I think about it, though, I'm really sure that I "collapse" my grip and sqeeze the butt of my palm into the club. I'll work on this today and see how I do.

Be patient with it. Changing your golf grip can be challenging (even frustrating). Alotta people just go back to the old (wrong) way because they're comfortable with it. Good Luck.
