Question about a fence in a hazard that interferes with swing

I was wondering if any of you can help me determine what the correct thing to do is here.

On a par 3, I hit a tee shot that flew over the green and ended up about 6 inches from a red staked hazard area. There was a fence inside the hazard that the ball hit and bounced out of the hazard. The fence made it impossible for me to swing at the ball for the next shot.

So the situation is:
Ball just outside the Hazard (red stake)
Fence inside the Hazard interferes with swing.

Do I have to take an unplayable lie or am I entitled to relief from an immovable obstruction. The confusion came because the fence is in the Hazard.

If the fence is permanent you are not entitled to relief, so either take an unplayable lie or you can try richocetting off the fence

Not true. He IS entitled to relief from an immovable obstruction when his ball lies outside of the hazard. The location of the obstruction being in the hazard is irrelevant. If the BALL was in the hazard then you would be correct.

Relief is to locate the nearest point not closer to the hole that gives complete relief from the fence for stance and swing. Then you can measure off one clublength from that point (still not nearer to the hole) and drop within that semicircle.

Thanks! Appreciate it. Do you know if this situation is referenced in the rules of golf anywhere? Need to have a word with my playing partners today and would be great to reference the rules of golf.

Immovable obstruction. Rule 24-2.

      I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.

      Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
