OK so right now i hit titleist 775.cb's and i can play them perfectly fine. i know they are pretty forgiving for forged irons though. however the groves are getting dull and the club heads are kind of rusty so im looking for some new irons.

i was wondering if someone could tell me if the mp57's are comparable to the 775's in terms of forgiveness. i can hit them off mats at stores but thats not the same as playing them on the course (which is not really an option for me)

thanks it's appreciated, opinions welcome

o..ps please dont judge off my handicap telling me i cant play which irons (18 was my best guess when i joined). im looking for comparisons to other irons...thanks!

MP-57's have good forgivability for the limited cavity they have. They are the complete package - great workability with good forgiveness.

so will the mp57s just play like normal cavity back irons? (like bridgestone j33's for example, i've played these before and they were fine)
i wasn't sure how the cut muscle affected the playability.

Tom Wishon (the guys with more golf club design patents than anyone else) says that and cavity at all makes a huge difference. From there you must have a gigantic cavity to get anymore forgiveness.

As far as mats go, if you are hitting the ball first like you are supposed to mats should not make a huge difference. However, if you are hitting the ground first- chunking the ball then mats will add forgiveness. I would say get the ones you like the best and forget about forgiveness. I doubt either will make a big enough difference to impact your scores.
