Hi All,
Just wondering what sort of features a camcorder needs to be good for videoing my swing. I have seen some can do 60 fps but they all seem to pretty expensive. I would be looking to get one for less then $(Australian)1000 so about $USD 800. Any recommendations.
Cheers

Wow Sonicblue. Really nice detail on the swing. I wish mine had that sharp a pic. Mine's only a year old too.

You don't really need the high FPS. With an ordinary camera you can see 95% of your swing. What you may be missing out on is the clubface, but that is not the first thing you should worry about.

With any camera you can capture the most important stuff, adress position, backswing, hips, knees, arms, spine. The club will travel so fast that you only get a few frames with it on the downswing, but it doesn't really matter, as I said, other stuff is more important.

When you are recording, always make sure you got good lightning and set the camera up properly in angle towards your body. A HD-camera gives you higher resolution, but not necessarily any more details. The video Sonicblue posted looked really good, you can even see the clubface.

Whatever camera you get, using the proper settings on it is important.

Yeah it took me a year to figure out that there's actually a fast moving setting on my camcorder. The icon is even a symbol of a golfer.

Aiptek GO-HD, $200 USD, small, light, writes to a SD card in *.mov format (QuickTime)[/url]

Interesting - they have one that does 60 FPS at 720p. I'm going to Best Buy right now to check it out. The Aiptek A-HD+ 1080P High Definition Camcorder. And it's $149. Might be worth getting that and retiring my SD550 (i.e. not borrowing it from the wife all the time).
