Callaway x 460

I am playing the old GBB 415 callaway.. I normally play a fade to straight ball flight. Would you guys say the 2 degress closed face on the new Callaway x 460 would be the way to go instead of the tour version. I have heard the bigger heads are harder to square. Just need you guys opinions.. also which shaft do you think would be good..

I too use the Callaway GBB II 415 and am in the market for a new driver. I have tried the x 460, but needless to say I am getting the Titleist 905r. Anyway, if you are hitting fades with the GBB 415 I would suggest getting the regular version, only because the 415 sets up slightly closed as well. So if you already hit straight/fade shots with a slightly closed clubface, going to the tour model may take some getting used to. I suggesting hitting the tour model on the range to see what the ball flight looks like.

I just bought the X460 Tour.

I have been hitting a Ping ISI wood driver for the last several years. I never could hit a metal driver.

I decided I wanted to get me a new driver so I tried out several. Nike Sasquatch, Tietlest 905T &905R, X460 tour and the regular X460. I can't really remember the rest that I tried.

I hit the tour model 460 better than all of them. I am Finally hitting a drive straight instead of having to play my left to right slice/fade.

I had a real bad slice with the Sasquatch. Neither one of the Tietlest's felt very good when I hit them.

The X460 Tour had such a sweet spot that I didn't even feel the ball when I hit it. I have never hit a straight drive before and I hit maybe 100 balls or more between the clubs (swapping clubs every 5 or so hits) and the Tour model went straight pretty much every time (except when I pulled it, but it was still a straight ball flight).

The regular X460 had a slight right slice everytime. It was really more of a fade but it was consistant. That is why I went with the tour model instead of the regular.

As far as shafts,off the shelf the Tour comes with the Fujikira (spelling) 26.3 Tour and the regular X460 comes with a Calloway gravite shaft.

So far I love mine.

UHPilot: You went from the ISI wood driver to an X460 Tour? That's got to be the biggest jump in size I've ever seen someone make in a single driver change! The ISI was around 210cc, I believe. You're playing a driver more than double the size! How's it treating you?

I remember when I first got the ISI, I thought that it was big. Putting it up next to the X460 makes it look like an old fairway wood or something now.

The biggest change is adjusting to the height I have to tee the ball up. I've always used broken tees and barely had my ball above ground before with the Ping. I have never had a problem with ball height, most all of my shots have a high launch angle. Sometimes I wouldn't even use a tee (just to aggravate my friends I was playing with).

So learning exactly how high to tee it up now is what I'm working on. Plus I found out that I needed to back away from the ball more because I was hitting it on the hosel. I read somewhere that when you address a ball that is teed up that high you make your adjustments with the club in the air lined up behind the ball not on the ground behind it. So far it seems to work.

But coming from a wooden driver to the NEW metal drivers I can't believe the sweet spot/forgiveness of them. Technology is great. Plus I can swing slower and the ball just launches of the club.

The reason I emphisized "new metal drivers" is because over the years I have tried all kinds of metal drivers ever since they've been out hoping that I would finally find one I could hit but I never could. It was like they would take my little bit of slice and magnify it. So I finally gave up and this year is the first time I've looked at metal drivers in about 6-7 years.

Plus my launch angle has come down with the X460, which I'm glad for. It's probably because I'm not having to swing so hard.

I still have a few adjustments to make but so far I love it.
