Last night I bought another new Nickent Hybrid. Its a 26* 5 and what I like about it it has the V2 shaft. Oh it a christmas present. I have a Nickent 17 2 ironwood that I love and I have a 21* Nickent 7 wood. The new 26* will replace my 5 iron. Just curious if anyone here plays a 26 hybrid. Thanks for the info.

Can't hit a hybrid, tried a fair number. Two of my playing partners today hit just awful hybrid shots into trouble. I still play the classic fairway woods; I find the hybrids difficult to hit and no advantage to fairway woods.

I hit my 5 hybrid better than any other club above a PW. If you can hit your other hybrids, I imagine you'd be able to hit that one even better.

I carry a 26* Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK hybrid and I love it. It has replaced my 5 iron, but it's actually a little longer than my 5 iron. I also carry a 17* (2H) and 23* (4H). I have become a huge believer in them. I'm not a long hitter, but I'm not a short hitter either. I didn't add it because of length - I added it because it's so easy to hit.

Do you mean no advantage over fairway woods? If so I would disagree, in general hybrids are much more controllable and much more versatile out of the rough. It's simple physics.

I really like my other 2 hybrids. The are my easiest club to hit just as long as I dont over swing. I am not a great long iron player and plan to eliminate my 5 iron with the 26*, I think it will be good on some par 3's one thing I have noticed they land very softly when hitting into the greens.

I have the Adams A2 OS set, which comes with 3-6 hybrids, then 7iron-PW cavity backs. I can control the 4 hybrid and 6 hybrid at will, hitting draws, straights, and fades under pressure. I hit the 3hybrid great off the tee (including stinger shot into wind) and can draw it at practice tee. On the course, I can only hit fades with the 3 and five hybrids (ok, sometimes I'll hit a pull).

My favorite club from my old Golfsmith TGI irons (discontinued) was the 5 iron. However, the Adams A2 set cheats a bit by making every club 3-5* stronger than average (so the 6H is really the same loft as my old 5 iron). I bought the A2 set 3H-PW including Winn grips for $199 when the A3s were just coming out. Overall, I love the set. Hitting a 5H and 6H needs some getting used to, but the 6H is my favorite club in the bag.

Im still carrying an original Nike CPR 26* that I bought new in 2004 (I think). I've taken it in and out of the bag as my ego dictated. Ultimately I decided to leave it in. It doesn't match my other hybrid, a Cobra DWS 23*, but it has a shaft of 38.5" which makes it very controlable. If I needed the bag space I could drop it because I can feather my 23* or bang my 29* 6 iron to cover those distances in between. But the CPR 26 works so amazingly out of the rough. Plus it is my go to club if I need to pop one up over an obstacle from 140-170, some thing I cannot do with my low iron flight.

The 26* hybrid has probably saved me the most strokes as a fringe putter. That is one of the best uses for this club IMHO. The 26 is also great for nice high mid range shots that sit where they hit.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
