Hmmmm, there has to be a few interesting stories here.
Mine is a few days ago, I was on the 1st (par4) at my local, after already having played 18.
I was on the green with a friend, when i saw another friend at the tee about 300yards away. He drove it, and it bounced about 3m before the green on the uphill slope. It rolled to within 6ft of the hole. We waited for him at the green - we really wanted to see if he could make the eagle, and he did!
That drive was close to perfection -

Any Challengers to that?

Several years ago playing with friends at my then local course. On the 5th hole, a 350 par 4, Chuck (5 hdcp.) Pushed his drive hitting a tree and knocking the ball back into the fairway but only 100 or so yards from the tee. He was at least 230-240 from the green. Chuck pulled out his 3 wood and knocked it in for the Eagle. It was truly amazing. I have yet to hit a hole in one and have never been in a group when someone did hit an Ace. Chuck's shot was the longest hole out I've ever witnessed.

The best shot I have seen has to be my dads second shot on a par 4 from about 160 out, it was to a pin tucked in a valley behind a bunker on the left side and the shot was dead on, keep in mind we couldn't see where it was due to be lip on the bunkers high side but my dad started posing saying it was in the hole and I just told him to get back in the cart so I can go hit, well when we get to the green his ball is no where on it so I figured it was over, I was wrong...it was in the hole...

Tiger Woods at the Canadian Open in the fairway bunker hit a trememdous 6 iron cut over water just past the hole to keep his lead and win the tournament.

Tiger Woods 16th Hole and Augusta chip in for birdie that stop just before the hole and dropped in.

In person, the best shot I seen was by a friend of mine, Casey Crain, who currently plays on the Hooters tour. Par 5, dogleg left, 260 yds out, he hits a draw to within 3 feet to a tucked pin. Why so special? He told us what he was about to do before he did it.

Best shot I ever saw in person while playing with that person was Kevin King..great Am player and two years ago was on the Champ Tour. Anyway, match play event we were tied going into 18 at Belfair West course (hard hole) I was 186 out and stuck a 6i to about 6' and then he got up from 179 out and holed a 6i to win the match. It was amazing considering the green complexity and the fact that it is surrounded by marsh, water and bunkers.

I was playing with my wife who was on a course for only the 2nd time it was dark out the sun was set and was a dark orange sky and we could only see a shadow of the flag par 3 141yds I hit seen it go up but lost it as it came down into the tree line but heard it hit a tree my wife hits and puts it about 10yds from the hole and 2' from the green she was so happy when we drove up to the green and she seen where hers was she was jumping up and down. Not the best shot in the world but to have seen her excitement was priceless and now she gets why I want to go so much. for the record she lost count on the first hole and we didnt try and play the 18th and she shot a 129

David Branshaw on the Nationwide Tour a few years ago. He was 8 under thru 16 and in a fairway bunker about 200 yards from the hole. Hit a 4-iron to three feet and made the birdie. He then made birdie on 18 for a 10 under total. Best round I have ever witnessed in person from start to finish.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I have seen 2 hole-in-one shots on par 3's. The first was one of my golf buddies on an island green of about 160 yards. With that '1' on his scorecard he was able to shoot 110 for the day. The other hole in one was from the wife of my best friend on a short, downhill hole (maybe 90 yards or so from ladies tees, but it was probably a 30-40 ft. drop off from tee as well so it was playing shorter than 90. I don't remember what she shot that day but it was probably over 100. She has 2 hole-in-one's and her husband and I have a grand total of 0 between us.

Most great shots I see I don't remermber unless it's mine. Most of those I never forget...

A slight modification to the question - this is the best pair of shots that I have ever seen.

I was taking a playing lesson with a teaching pro (Mel Sole in Pawley's Island, SC). He had a shot of around 160 yards to an elevated green that was no big deal except for a skinny pine tree trunk directly in front of him. He proceeded to hit an 8i draw around the tree inside 20'. He then hit a 7i cut around the tree inside 20'.

That was nice.
