Who do you think is going to win tonight?
I gotta go with Texas. Been rooting for them for the last 5 or so years.

That was a real good game.
Once the no huddle started by the Longhorns, I could tell it was going to be a close one and not a blowout like it seemed to be.

So, does this now cause some question about who's number 1? In your opinions what would have to happen in Oklahoma vs. Florida St game for Texas to get some votes for #1?

I think if Oklahoma were to win a close, ugly game, then some voters might look at the Texas defeat of Oklahoma and call Texas #1. Especially considering the nature of the Longhorns only loss being on a somewhat 'flukey' play at the end of the game with Texas Tech. I think if Florida State wins at all, then the Gators will be considered #1 by all voters (or close to it - I'm sure somebody in Utah will say they are number 1).

Personally, I miss the ambiguity of the 'National Champion' prior to the BCS system. It at least made it more fun than now.

I agree with you on if OU beats Flordia in a close game, I think Texas should be number 1, no doubt about it. They shouldnt have lose against TT but it happens. Either way, im hoping for Oklahoma to beat Florida.

Lets not leave Utah out of the BCS title talk. The put a beat down on Alabama who was ranked #1 for most of the season. They did not have the toughest schedule in football (playing in the Mountain West Conference) but they had quality wins against TCU (who beat undefeated Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl), BYU, and Michigan....

Being the only undefeated team in CF the 13-0 Utes deserve a smidgen of respect.

To promote some fun and comments...

Texas did beat a number of top rated teams -- amazing schedule and result for the year. Tech and Utah seem like teams that can get hot and beat anyone -- but not sure they would win a really physical final BSC game. USC seems the most talented on defense, but somehow manages to have bad games, Oklahoma dominates unless there is a little fear factor such as what happened in the Texas game when they fell behind and suddenly looked beatable and were beaten. Texas may not have the athletes, but McCoy is a brainy QB and finds ways to win -- he did not lose to Tech, the secondary lost that game and just barely. Tech played well and let it all hang out -- and won in an unlikely way. Say it is not true Joe... Penn State is coached by committee by all appearances. Alabama... modern offense needed. UF -- who knows, they certainly know how to do great blow outs. Don't know what will happpen with OU... so the fearless predictions:

If OU wins in a so so game: 1. Texas, 2. OU, 3. USC, 4. Utah
If OU wins a blow out: 1. OU, 2. Texas, 3. USC, 4. Utah
If UF wins: 1. UF, 2. USC, 3. Texas, 4. Utah

That is just a guess. Utah was the year's big surprise just like Boise State was in the past -- These two teams have proven they belong in higher cotton. The Big 10 seems to be down a little. A playoff seems the only way to declare a real national champion - JMHO.

I would agree with your 3 scenario rankings. I would probably put each in the same position as you, except I might put Texas before USC in scenario 3 just because USC (who many say might be the best team right now) lost 2 games to 1 'flukey' loss by Texas.

I also agree that a playoff may be the best way to decide it, but I heard on ESPN radio the other day someone (one of the so-called 'experts') saying that in 8 team playoff, it might be possible that Utah would get left out of that just because of the conference they are in. I'm an alumnus of Marshall University (who got screwed over one year they finished undefeated). They played in what used to be called 1-AA, which had a 16 team playoff and it was great. The playoff consisted of top 14 teams, plus 2 'wildcard' teams. The wildcard teams were supposed to be teams that may have had an injury to key player that cost team a game or 2 or team that got hot at the end (like USC this year) or the next teams in rankings. The difference between 1-AA back then and the division one is that, for the most part, 1-AA was somewhat even with teams very comparable across conferences. That's simply not the case in Division 1, though. A team with 3 losses in Big 12 might be as good (or better)as a 0 or 1 loss team in WAC (or whatever conference - I'm just throwing WAC out there as example). It's kind of like March Madness where 'mid-major conference' teams with just a few losses end up 15 or 16 seeds against teams from conferences that are at least 'percieved' as stronger. In many ways I like the old system. I say just go back to 15 bowls or so - each conference winner automatically gets into a particular bowl every year and then make a few wildcard bowls (for teams like Texas, Texas Tech, Alabama, Ohio St., etc. from this year). Who cares if anyone is the national champion. If everyone doesn't have an equal chance, then what does it matter?

    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
