hey,

Just stumbled across the forum a couple days ago and love the interaction.

I live in Illinois and it's been a very cold winter with at least another month of agony (if not two), so I've been spending time hitting balls in my basement and dreaming about hitting the course.

So far I've spent most of my time in the equipment sub forum, because I'm a bit of a fanatic, however, I firmly believe that most people (including myself) use the wrong equipment and would greatly benefit from custom fitting (which I have).

My goals this year are to play at least 27 holes a week, which is tough with two kids (4 and 1.5) as well as some other hobbies, but I have a flexible job so I'm hoping to make it work.

anyway, enough about me. I should go hit some balls.

IL is fun. I go to Geneso and its nice to have a $20 dollar 18 that is in good condition, and a 11$ 9 hole. When I was there for my two weeks last summer I got a nice 27 in summer. but thats vacation...I just wish I could pay $20 for something here.

yes, yes, yes... I am suffering from the same boredom in the Chicago Area. I go to Golfsmith a couple times a week to hit balls and try out different clubs. It is supposed to be in the mid-high 40's in the next week so I am going to a covered/heated outdoor driving range and hit balls til I pass out. lol

I've been accumulating equipment all winter so now I need to decide which I want to keep and which I wan to re-sell

Welcome and good luck with the 27 per week.

Ever play Deere Run ?

I went to a wedding reception at the deer run clubhouse. Beautiful place. I've wanted to play there ever since. Maybe this summer I'll actually make it up there.

If you need a playing partner, I'd be happy to join you.

Im suffering from the winter no-golf blues too. I recently found a driving range not too far from home that is open all year long (Vitense Golf Land in Madison) and that helps, but it still sucks not being able to play golf.
Snowmobiling helps to pass the time, but it could never replace golf.

Haven't played it yet myself, but want to.

Here's a couple of links http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses...?course=325545 http://www.golfmaplebluffgeneseo.com/ We should try to arrange an outing of Sandtrap members this year sometime. Put some faces with the avitars :)

Yea I am lucky enough to have a couple of indoor golf domes up here in the west chicago suberbs. I at least can swing a club once in while until the weather heats up. Chicago winter has been awful so far....but yay 6 more weeks of it.

How are you people managing to play in Chicagoland?! There's still like a foot of snow on the ground lol. There's a heated range by my house but I was just wondering if they're even open right now? I remember seeing that it's open all year but snow on the ground will give no bounce and roll! lol

IDK, my bff Jill?
