new irons

hey guys i got some new mizuno mx-100s and now i hit then like way high, like i lost a good 30 yards from my last irons.

i do love these irons all shots feel great but how can i hit them just a little lower?

and what would be causing this?

What irons were you using before? What shaft was in the old irons and what shaft are in the new irons? I think these questions would be important for anyone to be of any help.

I had this same problem when I switched drivers. I was used to hitting the ball on a low flight path that gradually rose. Then I switched to a stiff flex shaft. I started hitting ball just as high as I did long. I figured out that it was the shaft. As you make contact with a Reg flex shafted club, the club is trailing your hands just a little more, causing the clubface to be at a certain angle to the ball. If you don't change your hand positioning to compensate, the stiff flex shafted club will be slightly closer to your hand position, therefor increasing the amount of loft on the clubface in relation to the ball. Try moving your hands a little forward at your address, this may aid you in seeing what I am talking about, but you should really find out if you have a different shaft. That always screws people up. I verified this with my club pro, he said that because I am a strong hitter it dramatically increased the effect.

before this i had some Jack Nickalus iron i know that these ones were regular flex

im not sure about the mizunos i think are regular flex also, i will get back to you on that later today

With my experience, yes. I am not a pro by any means, but I do have a problem hitting the ball higher than I do far, so when I notice this I always see that my hands are too far back at address.

Not sure what you were playing before but it could just be the clubs themselves. MX 100's are more game improvement type clubs with a good amount of offset and deep cavities, designed to get the ball up in the air for those who struggle with that.

Yeah, this could be it...but really check what kind of shafts. You might need a stiffer flex if it's going WAY too high.

A high ball flight is good, though. I mean, you don't want to lose 30 yards though.
