Just moved areas, and found a driving range close by. To my amazement it was both grass and artificial turf for teeing off. Now for bucket size you could get a large $8 probably 100 balls so pretty good. Or a bucket (I mean one of those huge ones) for $16 and it held I would say 300-400 balls. Then the range was only 250 yards long where it had a 10 foot high wooden/tin fence. My first shot I hit it off the fence (large ping sound) so I was hopeful of clearing it, from then on out I hit 70% of my balls over the fence as did a couple of gentlemen beside me.

Now I was started thinking how economical this would be for the company. The balls were all callaways, so they weren't the super cheap yellow ones. So they would be paying a little for the balls, but I know many people would be clearing the fence, so wouldn't that cut deep into the profit they would be making?

If you are happy with those prices and hitting "nicer" balls, I would suggest not hitting the balls over the fence anymore.

It may come back and bite you in the butt.

Yeah, seriously. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

And what, they don't own property beyond the fence to retrieve the balls? Prediction:
People are going to doubt that you carry the ball over 260-ish yards 70% of the time.

Yeah, if you hit 70% of 400 balls over a 250 fence, then you're pretty good. But why would you want to. Ima guess those were with your driver, which you'll probably hit 12-14 times a round. You should work on your practice routine.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Yeah that's not a nice thing to do. Just because you can doesn't mean you should haha. I think hitting 5-6 balls over the fence would have been enough fun for me. Then I would spend that deal working on your irons, chips etc.

My range 80 balls is like 10$ :(, and they are pretty bad balls

I didn't get that big of a bucket, I just got the medium one. I noticed the 250 yard was marked from about 5-10 feet behind the green, so its actually a little shorter than a 260 yard carry.

Yeah I'll start just using my irons and woods at this place - at one of the courses (little further away) they have a full range. I don't know if they own the property behind the fence or not, I would imagine they wouldn't or they would move the fence back.

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
